Agreed as an Outback owner he didn't quite get the whole package on why this vehicle is EVERYWHERE and I mean I'd believe they gave the car out at the DMV here in Colorado! You can adjust the tires on this outback and there is nothing it can't do, just about. Off road it does much much better than people want to believe! I rescued by brother in law on a closed/snow-packed trail in the mountains! I mean REALLY I was able to get to a jacked up F-150 Z74 or something like that. I even had guys on 4-wheelers remarking....wait you made it out here in THAT?! On jeep trails you get a LOT of looks when an outback comes strolling by but it does the job. Now there are places it cannot go! (Blackbear pass is an example) BUT it can do 99% of what I need it to and I have driven in a blizzard her w 65mph winds and 2in a min accumulation. Car handles FINE!!

@andy314195 жыл бұрын
Doug, I like watching your videos, but you missed some big things with this one. First, the car you had was the Onyx Edition which as others have mentioned have a dual X Mode in it. also you didn't highlight the Water resistant interior that is on that edition. I am assuming it was because you bounced back and forth between two different trim levels. Another thing you missed was the roof rack and rails. You have to pay a premium on most vehicles to get the rails and the outback tucks them away on the rack so they are there when you need them. We just lost our Honda Odyssey minivan and had to make the choice, now the kids are gone, do we become part of the SUV crowd. Well the outback fit the bill, we like wagon's /minivans and SUVs to us felt like trucks so this was a great fit. Look forward to watching more videos.

10:30 I'll tell you why, we have an Impreza so I am speaking from experience When using adaptice cruise control and the car comes to a complete stop I often find myself looking at the console just to re-assure myself that the car is actually on brakes and stopped. It is a rather useful little detail and I am glad to have it!! It also lights up when the car brakes to slow down so you know it is responding to traffic ahead. Again, it is difficult to explain but it is amazing!

The brake lights on the dash screen is pretty useful. When my car is slowing down in adaptive cruise control it lets me know if it's doing it's CVT equivalent of down braking or using actual brakes. It's nice because it lets me know if I'm showing my brake lights to a car behind me vs just slowing down. It's good for when I have to make a tight merge and adaptive cruise is on. The brake lights in the dash is even on my 2016 Ouback. It's funny though because in 2016 the picture of the car is a Subaru legacy regardless if you have a Legacy or an Outback.

@marksandstrom42485 жыл бұрын
@@T2roxT2 umm, remind me not to let you touch my phone camera, OK? I wasn't mentioning yet, what I think myself. I do wash the inside windows of my Subaru every month or two, being careful to avoid the EyeSight cameras, and that has worked fine both in terms of EyeSight working OK and my windows being clean, for 3 years. But I can also tell you from personal experience, EyeSight can become "blind" from one smashed insect in just the wrong place on the windshield - which does NOT turn on the dashboard "OFF" warning like frost/fog. This resolves of course once you wash the outside of the windshield, but surely it also indicates that a messy poking finger or rag on the inside could indeed mess up the system. I'm betting that Subaru corporate trusts dealer mechanics about as much as they trust owners, and that if you do touch the cameras enough to mess up the system and you "contact a Subaru dealer", their fix is to plug and play new expensive hardware, not any delicate cleaning operation. But I am just guessing.

The brake lights show on the mini-car in The gauge cluster to show when the brake lights are on during adaptive cruise. That way you know people behind you can see your brake lights if adaptive cruise is slowing you down. If its very very slowly decreasing your speed the brake lights aren’t turned on. Also the mirror lights are door handle/puddle lights and work extremely well! They automatically turn on when you get close and it senses the key. Plus the rear seats recline!

Doug no. THIS, not all the others you've labeled as such, is a "crossover". FFS

@@ge8198 no it technically is a wagon. In front of the b pillar it is almost identical to the legacy minus the bumper and grill which helps to define it as a wagon because it shares the legacy platform.

@@uzogsi the outback did not invent the crossover, it was always always a wagon which have been around for decades. The origins of the Crossover came about in the mid to late 90s with the releases of the Rav4, CRV, and Lexus RX300

It's still amazing that Subaru took a station wagon, which people mostly quit buying, and made the Outback from it.

It's still a mystery why people stopped buying station wagons. Anyone who owned a station wagon knows how useful they are.

@@shawn576People buy what they're sold. Wagons typically have a smaller wheelbase than SUVs, which means stricter fuel economy standards in the US. Selling bigger cars makes it easier for the manufacturers to hit CAFE numbers. So that's what they push. We're buying bigger cars because of environmental regs. It's ridiculous.

I like the way they integrated the large infotainment screen way better than the iPad thing in the upper trim Ford Explorers and a few other vehicles I’ve seen. It’s shows time and thought was put into designing it and it is a part of the car instead of just stuck to the dash.

I own the 2020 Subaru Outback Touring and I love it! I have to disagree with a lot of things he says about the car! It handles like a sports car and with the turbo it can be very exciting! I do agree with the AC controls being too small but they are not bad once you get used to it!

I think you should integrate fuel economy in the Doug Score since it has and will become more and more important.

You want to see a 2019 Outback, look at the 2020 Outback, biggest difference would be the available wheels.

I have a 2018 Outback. The new model and the facelift of the previous model look very similar. The biggest differences are the wheels and fog lights.

You needed to mention the great 4 wheel drive. I drive this car in Mammoth. They sometimes do not plow the roads and I end up driving thru un-plowed roads and driving down hills that are shear ice. Other cars and SUV's with 4 wheel drive are spinning out and my Subaru goes thru it. This car gets me to where I am going. The only way my Subaru is stuck is when the road is closed. Many skiers and people who live in places with snow and bad weather swear by Subaru's.
