I've seen 2 in person, both in a 2nd hand shop for sale at nearly double what the actual console costs lol and these are the disc versions. They look cool, but even at proper price the series X is probably better to spend the money on instead. I have a ps4 slim GT edition, more than good enough for me, I even got rid of xbox one S. There isnt anything new that's appealing. Also I'm keeping it to her VR which I doubt ps5 will support.

As a PS4 owner, the issue for me is that I’ve begun moving on to pc, but I’ve bought so many games on Sony’s platform, and made so much progress that it’s making a full switch incredibly difficult. It doesn’t help that many of my friends are still using PlayStations

I mean it’s very clear that you can’t use Cyberpunk at all as an example, it’s extremely poorly optimized, even for PC. It’s basically impossible to get 60FPS at all high settings at higher than 1080p without using Nvidia’s DLSS. All of what you just said may be valid, but Cyberpunk is far from solid proof of it being the case. I do think we will start to see a higher emphasis of game mechanics this generation, taking full advantage of the CPU rather than trying to squeeze more out of the relatively tame GPU increase.

I don’t think you can judge the old systems based on one game. CDPR has a history of sub par releases and 1st party games will find ways to make their games shine on their machines. In saying that, I do agree that the old machines will hold back Series X/PS5 games short term. Having to develop for HDDs when you have SSDs definitely changes things from a game-development perspective.

Agreed 👍 it's better to wait for next year 2021 once this pandemic goes away soon and wait for the next games coming out because there isn't much games for the PS5 only like 4 or 3 games for the PS5. The only thing I should buy that is still on sale is buying a New Samsung LED UHD 4K Smart TV for only $349.99 for 43 inches on BestBuy or buy a $400 or more for a new TV but get the new generation UHD 4K or 8k Smart TV. Tbh i rather buy a new TV and enjoy playing my PS4 games for now or start playing my PS3 again like the old days.

Plus most PS5 games to be on PS4 console anyway. I got a 4KTV last year. In late 2022, I will be a new 4KTV with HDMI 2.0.

I had to upgrade and got lucky and got a direct preorder but I literally send messages to Sony requesting a preorder before it was even a think because my PS4 would brick constantly every time I would start it up and it was a hassle even to get it on to play games sometimes taking 20 minutes and a most times a reinitalization. Every time I sent an error report I requested to have a preorder instead of explaining what happened.

I don't really think that's the case. Right now last gen is the much larger player base sinc no one can even get the new gen consoles right now. The only ones interested in pushing everyone to the new consoles is Sony and Microsoft. The actual game developers just want as many people buying their game as possible, and right now 90% of those people are still on last gen and will be for a while still. So it's still in their best interest to make sure their games run ok on last gen too. Cyberpunk's problem is that they pushed the game out before it was done, not that they chose not to optimize it for last gen.

How about we revisit this in about a year, when consumers can actually get their hands on the console. This was especially true when this video was recorded. Who cares about the visual, and technological improvements on a console THAT NO ONE CAN GET? Who has actually seen the graphics up close? Who has held a PS5 controller in their hands? How could the PS5 have already killed the PS4 with little to no exclusives and little to no base of players actually playing it's games? When we can all play and enjoy the system, then we can all assess the system in comparison to the PS4.

Reasons I don't buy a PC 1. I have no clue what the PC lingo is. I don't know what a gtx is, I don't know anything about ram or who, why, what, where. 2. Playstation exclusives. 3. Expensive, I'll need to spend like 1000 dollars just for the tower, plus a monitor, desk, keyboard.

As others have said, it really just comes down to how fast Sony and Microsoft can get stock into consumer hands. I do hope they do it quickly, because I think the capabilities of these new machines are a much bigger leap than last gen, as you said. The faster they can saturate the market with next gen consoles, the faster scalpers lose interest, people can more easily get their hands on the next gen, and game developers feel comfortable pushing new capabilities with a next gen only game that isn't developed for the lcd.

Microsoft is planning to support the Xbox One all the way through the Xbox Series' lifespan somehow, lol. They are releasing all Series games on Xbox One as well, like Halo Infinite. Seems like a bad idea to me. Just gonna hold back games and give developer extra work/piss them off having to support so many hardware versions at once.
