I mean, it sort of makes sense for countries that have railways to not have trains researched. A lot of the smaller countries didn't have the heavy industrial capabilities needed to produce their own trains. And just because they could use railways to help their agrarian or light industrial sectors didn't mean that they could justify the investment of building heavy industry just to service a few local train lines. So, they would have imported stuff from the more heavily industrialized countries.

In all fairness, Greece absolutely kicked Italy's ass when they invaded through sheer unyielding will (both armies were equally terrible but Greek morale was insanely high while Italian morale was rock bottom despite them being the aggressors). If Germany hadn't stepped in and invaded from the north Greece could potentially have knocked Italy out of the war. As it was, when an actually competent army showed up Greek forces found themselves hopelessly outmatched. Poor bastards.

@@FuelDropforthewin They would not have knocked them out of the war, and while they were pushing in Albania I seriously doubt they would have pushed them out. The issue wasn't so much Italian morale at this stage, but terrain and Sebastiano Visconti Prasca (Viscount of Prasca) was too proud to ask for more troops before the campaign even began. The terrain was a rather narrow, mountaineous front, which was fortified to boot. Under NORMAL conditions with minimal fortification you need a 3 to 1 local advantage (easier to achieve if you don't have overall numerical superiority IRL on a longer front, but still tough as you need to weaken other parts, not doable in hoi unless you use too small width units to do it) to attack. The Italians attacked with 6 divisions (about 87 thousand man) vs the Greeks 4 divisions of about 50k men). The Greeks had MORE artillery than the Italians, making it even worse (940 vs 686 artillery pieces), although the Italians had more superiority in the air (negligible in such terrain). Prasca KNEW by all military convention, that he needed more troops to do this, but didn't want to ask Mussolini for more, thinking he could somehow pull this off anyway. He attacked, got stuck, the morale THEN dropped and the Greeks counterattacked and pushed. But by the time the Germans arrived to hasten Greece's end, they had already stopped gaining ground, but the Italians had launched their own spring offensive in turn. Which also didn't do much BUT: Greece was running out of ammunition and arms fast. They could mobilize another 300 thousand men, but only on paper, since they lacked any and all equipment for them. They were begging Britain for millions of rounds of ammo, and Britain at that point stated in internal documents, that Greece's logistics were about to collapse, whereas Italy had plenty of reserves. So while Italy's performance was an extremely poor showing, Greece was by no means in any position to knock them out of the war, let alone push them out of Albania.

Their supply lines were almost as bad as the Greeks, and the Greek supply lines had been on the verge of collapse since the very start of the war. They were quite literally fighting tooth and nail from the very beginning, with multiple accounts of Italian soldiers having bite wounds. The greek supply lines were basically "Whatever we can take from dead Italian soldiers" for the majority of the war. Italy's performance was a showcase of incompetence from top to bottom, from underestimating Greek numbers by an order of magnitude to not even bothering to set up functional supply lines before the start of an offensive which was, at least theoretically, planned. Yes the Greek counterattack stalled in winter, winter in the mountains tends to do that, but with commonwealth allies joining the fight they would have been able to knock Italy out of the war if not for, let's be real, the best army on the continent dropping everything to come bail Italy out of a mess they 100% made for themselves through structural incompetence at all levels. The Greek army was barely functional at the start of the war and didn't really have a chance to get their shit together throughout the entire conflict, but they still managed to curb stomp Italy hard enough to send them fleeing halfway across the next country and beg Hitler to halt preparations for invading Russia and come bail them out.

That is a problem. AI always builds AT guns in 1938 (most minor countries). And as another minor nation you have to really invest into armor which kinda excludes the concept of the division being cheap.

Hey Feedback, just wanted to let you know that there is an even more broken version of Greece. You dont want to pay off your your debt to anyone because later you get the option to cut it by 50% for 200pp or erase it for 300pp but that will piss off GB, France and Italy(who cares kekw). As soon as possible you need to get Papandreou for advisor. He boosts democracy and political power gain. (You will need the extra democracy support) Once you make the deal with EEE and start getting some events popping up, you can select whichever you want but democracy needs to stay above 60% When you flip to fascist, try to take out turkey asap. Once you are done with them form byzantium and because democracy support is 60% or more, you get the option to become democratic again. Now you are a democratic powerhouse that can truly be world police! Have fun!

Large debt repayment is much better. It takes more and is more expensive but a lot quicker and cheaper in pp. And the right hand side of the focus tree also gives you a lot more factories and helluva better companies… Also IMO until endgame when you have war economy or total mob, the chtatplaan is worth keeping…

Greece helped a lot in winning WW2 by delaying the germans invasion of the Soviet Union by two crucial months.Becuase the had to invade first the Yugaslavia and next greece to help Italy and those two invasions costs the germans those two crucial months of April and May thus the germans couldnt capture Moscow because they didnt had enought time because winter came. 1) yugoslavia was a separate issue not related to greece 2) the german invasion of greece did not use any troops or resources allocated to the invasion of barbarossa. the delay was caused by unrelated logistics and weather issues according to OKH records. greece did not delay barbarossa 3) the germans didn't have to help the italians, the greek army was falling apart to the italians by the time the germans invaded, with mass desertion and chronic lack of supplies which british aide did not help (due to useing different equipment AND not being in sufficient numbers) 4) it wasn't winter that stopped the germans taking moscow, but even if it was the germans would have been bogged down by mud during the initial invasion which would have slowed them down even if their logistics had allowed an earlier start date. 5) taking moscow wouldn't have won the germans the war

I love that this game works as an educational tool, too. Like, we're going to have an entire generation of young people who are experts on European politics between the years of 1936 and 1945. They know all the parties of each country, all the party leaders, the government policies, devaluation of currencies, civil wars, WW2 itself, the names of tanks and weapons, the generals, European boarders in the 40s etc etc… lol. Wish they had this game when I studied for my history exams in school. Id have got straight A's.

It doesn't matter nearly as much as it seems, especially for small quantities of equipment. Paradox wiki(which sometimes lies about stats, but seems accurate in this case) states that if reliability for some equipment is higher than 1-10/(amount of equipment in division) than only the base attrition loss is applied, which is 1.2*attrition units per day and can't be improved with just equipment. In our case the amount of tanks was 24, which results in 1-10/24 = ~58%, which means another formula applies. In this case equipment lost per day is (total equipment in division)*0.12*(1-reliability)*attrition = 24*0.12*(1-0.265)*attrition = ~2.1*attrition. And considering attrition is a number between 0 and 1 and always closer to 0, and the fact feedback was producing like 20+ tanks a day, it negates the low reliability entirely. In reality, it's feels even less than that.

I think I found sort of an exploit the other day. I was playing a Republican Spain and I wanted to join the axis, to go for some achievement (not important). I declared on Soviet Union in order that axis might invite me but they didn't but when they joined the war as well, they were willing to send me lend lease. I contributed 0 warscore and never actually killed any soviet soldier and axis countries sent me around 100k worth of infantry equipment + god knows how much support and artillery. I basically built half of my army out of axis equipment then I declared on Vichy France and completely stumped axis and anexed almost all of Germany and Italy as democratic nation while using German and Italian guns (most of them were in fact older Czechoslovak guns but who cares).

You dont need to join faction if you spam divisions and have +30 relations to any country they will send you equipment, if you ask for lend lease they sends even more. I got 300k inf. equipment as communist china

@@ZemanTheMighty I guess, the reason I consider it an exploit is that you are actually weaking axis if you are going to fight them and they don't have stockpiled equipment, it damages their ability to reinforce and thus you beat them more easily, which as China, might be hard to do since they are on different continent. But I guess you could do this as plenty other countries. You can also exploit spanish focus tree and attack alies as democratic nation - if you do focus to gain war goal on fascist majors after you are at war with them, it stays and you can use it to declare on supervised state inside Allies and sort of take over the world as democratic nation.

There is still a problem. AI always builds AT guns in 1938 (most minor countries). And as another minor nation you have to really invest into armor which kinda excludes the concept of the division being cheap. Also the AT gun division of the AI will have 25 piercing and even with maxed out light tanks your infantry division with light recon tanks will never have 25 armor.

Reliability is averaged across the entire division and then applied to the equipment afterward. Since it was only a recon company it made up such a small proportion of the division that the abysmal reliability of the tank barely affected the division reliability which is the only reliability that matters.

The simple fact of the matter is that one of the primary sources of game slowdown and lag is the number of divisions and all the calculations revolving around them. I dont care how good your graphics card is or what it can render, it wont save you from lag that has nothing to do with graphics.

A lot. They're much more impacted than planes. Something to consider though, the support goes by the reliability of the whole division, so I think something like 60 is fine for support recon tanks

There's several reasons A) they're (relatively) cheap B) you don't use that many per division C) it's averaged across the division. All this means reliability is a dump stat for support tanks. For frontline tanks it's different.
