HUGE thanks to Warframe for asking us to take a look at The Duviri Paradox - if you've not played the game before I'd suggest giving it a try using our link wrfr.me/tw-preachgaming. If you have played the game before we'd love to know what you think of this new expansion since it seems so new player focused. Drop a comment and let us know.

Its weird how... mundane the sentients are these days considering how they were treated in the early days. Like them just showing up casually in a main quest is so bizarre when I think back to the eldritch horror angle they used to be treated as. I wonder if they feel completely different to a newer player who never had the years of whispered mentions and foreshadowing.

I played warframe for LITERAL YEARS and learned things in the intro I never knew lmao. as for modding, the issue is it's really complicated. You have things like going over 100% status and crit chance, learning what statuses are and actually do, learning how abilities work, god forbid I even mention arcanes because that shit is exceedingly complicated. I had to look up a guide on how mods work. Another thing about the story is it also spoils very very very key quests that for some are the reason why they're into warframe. The big reveal of the tenno that two quests lead up to in the later stages of the star chart? Yeah that dosen't exist. It's just gonna feel like "oh hey, I know have access to that thing from the first three hours of game play" instead of "holy shit, this is what the tenno actually are...."

"It's just gonna feel like "oh hey, I know have access to that thing from the first three hours of game play" instead of "holy shit, this is what the tenno actually are...."" Not really tbh. Having restarted the game on a fresh account, they didn't so much spoil the Operator as much as they set them up to be a long-term mystery character related to your player character, set up to pay off in Second Dream. They've turned an unexpected plot twist into a foreshadowed storytelling. Whether that's a good thing or not depends on whether you prefer foreshadowed plot twist or unexpected plot twist. Operator became a mystery character to the player character, as much as Wally was a mystery character to the Operator.

I feel they will probably add alot more Frame-specific and Weapon-specific power upgrades in the future of the gamemode, after making sure the base is functional enough. Mods and the Helminth already allow you to do nutty stuff, so it would make sense if they let people mess around with a similliar temp system here. Or just, copy/paste it for testing and as a preview of those full systems later in the game.

Having played Warframe extensively in sporadic bursts over the years, the game has consistently had the problem that the most efficient way to play is often the least fun way to play. Combine that with the fact that grinding is a huge part of the game, and you quickly find yourself doing whatever you can to increase efficiency, despite the fact doing so is often in direct contradiction to actually having fun. It's been a few years since I touched Warframe, but I somehow doubt they've managed to get over that hurdle.

My issue with Warframe is that it's just a grinding game. There's no reason to grind other than to grind in more ways. There's nothing super hard to cut your teeth on. No high level raids or really long Survival goals. It's just unlocking more ways to grind. And even then everyone just grinds the same couple of stages for fast EXP.

I did not like Duviri personally and it's a very weird starting point. I can only imagine the confusion for a new player to get taught this Dark Souls sort of combat only to suddenly realize that's not in any other part of the game. Meanwhile, they still don't actually teach you about the actual mechanics used in 99% of the game, like modding, status, etc, they haven't even fixed incorrect ability descriptions even for starter frames like Volt's barricade. And to say the update was buggy is beyond an understatement. I want to like Warframe but it's like a million frustration points everywhere that don't need to exist and it's like my hype dies to death by 1000 cuts. Also spoilers is a thing because what is revealed is still made into a whole quest line with the big reveal as the main crux of it and finding out more about it continues for at least 2 more of the best quest lines in the game so this being the starting point is going to make those reveals confusing and obsolete. It would like FF14 showing the final boss of Endwalker and giving context to it but then playing the rest of the game as normal. The reveal is a main plot point, not like Kefka who's a spoiler for a totally different game unrelated to the narrative.

12:39 No having teshin and the drifter in the paradox isn't just you meet them in a different order it completely and utterly ruins two of the most important quest in the game, for years the warframe community has been able to mostly keep the fact that the warframes are not your character they are just weapons your character uses a secret to new players until they find out during the quests the existence of the drifter ruins the quest because now you already know its like watching the third movie of a trilogy then watching the first and second movie you know how it's going to end so now there's no suspense no impact because you know how things are going to turn out in the end this is something you will simply not understand because you haven't done those quests yet, the duviri paradox is absolutely garbage for new players the only thing it teaches new players that the game didn't already teach was some movement techniques, learning missions could have been done by de simply keeping matchmaking off until youve done most of the mission types, it still doesn't teach modding, it focuses way to hard on a part of the game that you can only do in duviri, and the story of duviri is confusing af even for me a 5 year veteran whos watched every lore video there is on warframe

People say this is good for new players, but I feel like teaching them a whole new combat system that doesn't exist outside of this bit of content might give them the wrong expectations for the rest of the game? And then when the game doesn't meet those expectations it might give them a lingering feeling of dissonance. Because its disconnected from everything else, I imagine it would just add to the confusion overload, make them feel like the Paradox is far more central and important than it is. The Duviri Paradox happens, and then when you leave it just...never comes up again. As a Veteran player it was alright to play through, but as a new player who knows nothing about the game? I just feel like it sets the wrong expectations. Sure, you still have to do Vor's Prize afterwards, but I imagine thats quite a bit of whiplash. You go from this rogue-like experience with, quite honestly janky, souls-like melee and a bit of Warframe gameplay thrown in, to the individual mission based gameplay where you're very restricted by what you own. I think its a good idea to introduce it early on, but not as a potential new player experience.

I wanna respond to this with a different perspective that... Think back, how veteran players also found the shift from Warframe Gameplay, which has been the primary "mode" of gameplay since nearly beginning...to a split between Warframe and Operator Gameplay to be very jarring. All they wanted to do was play as Warframes, and splitting their attention between Warframe and Operator, didn't exactly go over well. Even though, there are few games in the industry that provide such a unique dynamic. While introducing new players to the game via the Paradox Path's prologue can be a tad cofusing...it gets them in tune with the idea that there's going to be different gameplay mechanics early. We haven't seen it much yet, since the update's only been out a short while, but I want to see how new players feel reaching War Within after starting from the Paradox. Because again, veterans really didn't like the emphasis on Operators, mainly because of how jarring it was. Newer players experiencing more of a split may take to it easier.

I made a comment about the "spoiler" that Mike was talking about, I removed it in case someone sees it without knowing what the story is and they end up playing through the quests in original order. This isn't a case of meeting a character early. There's a main quest that answered a question that people hadn't really thought about, and a reveal that turns the entire understanding of the game upside down. When that quest was released, it would take a new player 20+ hours to reach that point, and one of the most shocking moments is when a new menu opens up. Having a "holy shit" moment that involves a list of menu elements is one of my favourite parts of Warframe's story. Now the big reveal of that quest makes literally no sense. A new player learns the twist within an hour of starting the game, and it just doesn't matter to them since there's no context to the information they're learning.
@uruson
@uruson Жыл бұрын
The spoiler issue isn't so much about the characters, but rather about the Warframes themselves, what they are, and what it means. I rather liked that 'reveal' but I feel like, well, it won't have any punch whatsoever now that the tutorial literally shows you piloting them. Before that point I didn't really think much of it, the changing of Warframes, et cetera. I just figured they were some manner of configurable biosuit/bioweapon, as per the name. So they've essentially replaced what I thought of as a truly great surprise, one ostensibly well-liked in 'the community', with, well, basic foreshadowing. I think that's a downgrade.

I just played through "the new war" and you know what my favorite moment was? When it was over. From start to finish I had no idea what was going on, why I was doing what and worst of all: what the games wants from me. Playing something without a clear motivation, a comprehensible identity, and a definite goal is probably what put players off the most. Funny thing is, that Steve Sinclair once said: "The best stories are the players stories, not the stories we impose upon players". This has never been more true. And it is worst when you're for once being told - very vaguely - what is happening *while* you are fighting, trying to figure out what to do and how to do it, with no log to look it up afterwards when you have the time. Warframe is always best when it is just that: Warframe. It always falls short when it imposes things upon players, from stories to forced mechanics to unexplained systems and worst of all: lore. The only coherent thing is the "warfame" itself in the standard missions of the starchart. Weapons, customization, pure combat. Everything the player can decide. Duviri falls short in all those respects. Being forced to switch between multiple play styles, mechanics, warframes, even characters is the worst thing a player in any game can experience. In fact it introduces a lot of more of the things where Warfram is weak: Storytelling, unexplained systems and many things a new player can not do anything with, like the resources you collect in the circuit, because all the blueprints that need them are late game content. It is a lot of effort wasted which could have put in tons of QoL improvements throughout the existing game. Apart from that, I personally play Warframe because it is not a soulsike or roguelike. Why would I be interested in a new game mode that introduces everything that stand for the games I do not play?

the problem with Warframe's "it gets better after 100 hours" wasn't about reaching endgame, it was about reaching the old war/ second dream. This isn't a " I have went through all this so you're weak if you can't" token thing either. Many players, me included, can agree that that part of the story was the moment when everyone was like oh shi this game actually has a good story wait what this is getting interesting. The fact that they're giving you a headstart isn't bad, it's just about what point of the story that start is from. The real slog for new player experience is the large amount of pointless early game missions, clearing the gigantic starchart to reach the good parts etc. The drifter itself would not have been such a huge spoiler, they could have started from midgame where the story gets good, and when we meet drifter in the new war, it could have been like an "oh wait this is the guy we were playing as" thing. On top of that, duviri experience has most of the bad end game grindfest mechanics that are not new player friendly at all compared to story missions or the starchart
@NicholasBrakespear
@NicholasBrakespear Жыл бұрын
"The real slog for new player experience is the large amount of pointless early game missions," Speaking as someone who started playing in the earliest beta days... I think this actually demonstrates how badly wrong the gameplay changes went over the years. Because when the beta was around? There was almost no story. Half the game's assets were still taken from the old Dark Sector trailer - including Grineer voice lines and stuff. The reason we kept playing those "pointless" early game missions - which were the only ones available at the time - the reason the game built such popularity early on? The gameplay was SO good. The fundamental experience of leaping into a mission with 3 total strangers, and entering this dark, mysterious world, outnumbered, outgunned, but somehow overcoming it? Figuring out crazy parkour moves to flip your way up an elevator shaft, just to get a vantage point to snipe from during a defence mission? Oh, it was so compelling. People used to do defence missions and keep pushing them, not to grind the rewards... but to see how many waves they could last. It was intense. Now though... every map, every mission, every combat encounter is just crouch-slide-jump-spin, over and over. The tileset doesn't really matter. The enemy type doesn't really matter. You're so highly mobile, and the power creep is so intense, everything rapidly reaches a point of "slide, spin, and one-shot everything."

The only one is the steel path circuit which is very hit or miss because as a veteran player I have a LOT of weapons and frames, and if circuit draws some of my crap ones then I'm not going to progress or enjoy my steel path circuit experience. Also, if you think that's fast in Duvirir, I've played until I had every single decree and I ran so fast it was actually detrimental because it was TOO fast and I couldn't accurately gauge where I was going to stop.😅

While the duviri does teach some thing that apply outside, especially the forced movement tutorial which was always in the game, just tucked in the codex and never highlighted anywhere, the drifter melee combat is exclusive to them and does't work like that in normal warframe content. You just switch one of 4 combos or heavy slam or ground slam from air. There is parry but you would need to switch to melee mode, becaus gun mode is default in the origin system.

couple of problems i have with information in the video as a veteran player: *edit pertaining to his old new player impression video which i watched after this one, figured might as well have everything in one place 6:00 you learned things you didnt know from the original tutorial? like what? the warframe section of the duviri tutorial doesnt contain any more information than the original one already did. im genuinely confused what you learned that the other one didnt have. you bring up movement, the original has double jump, slide, wall run both vertical and horizontal and bullet jump sections in it, the only thing thats missing is jumping sideways of a wall, and thats missing because there are like two corridors in the entire game where its even applicable. also, pulling you into that cyberspace is really really jarring imo, no idea why they couldnt just have an obstacle course in the cave for you to learn these things or use the portal to have a movement tutorial in the undercroft. i agree, public should not be the default matchmaking setting, but the undercroft in duviri only contains 5 mission types, one of which you dont encounter until the very end of the main story line anyways. given the very slim selection of mission types you learn here, and the fact that vors prize also introduces several mission types in a controlled enviroment i find it hard to hold this as a plus point for duviri duviri doesnt introduce any modding because you have to play the original tutorial afterwards anyways to get into the main game. i dont think the main game modding tutorial is sufficient at all as it basically just tells you "lmao, use auto install if you dont get it", but this shouldnt be a knock to duviri. What i will point out though, the weapons you get in the undercroft sections of the quest have a full build of mods in them and deal really solid damage. you are not told this in any way, so when you get out of duviri and pick up that exact same weapon you might be really confused as to why this one only does 30 instead of several thousand damage per bullet. *the moment where you sit there and try to read how the mods console works and ordis goes "go to the arsenal and install your mods!!" every few seconds is unfortunately also still there. this is the one moment the player is actually sitting there trying to understand this extremely important system and they do their best to get you out of it. yikes. your reasoning on it not being a spoiler makes zero sense. yes, you dont know who these characters are, but the fact that you know the drifter exists, that you know that warframes are remote controlled when the main game up to a certain quest makes it a point to treat them like suits of armor the tenno is physically inside of, the fact that teshin outright tells you he dies at some point are all major spoilers. yes these are new characters to you that are interesting and you want to see their story, and thats great for the first few hours, but the problem veterans have that you completely missed is that simply being there saying the things they do detracts from the far superior main story of the game. i would hardly call the unlock paths in the circuit long term given that they cycle each week, and saying you can select a frame you really liked in the paradox and be guaranteed to get them is kind of misleading given you get to choose one of three per week where the possible options are entirely outside your control. As a endcap, i agree that its important to go back and freshen up the beginning of your game, not just hope players slog through the 10 year old content, but the thing is, they already did that a couple years back, and it was phenomenal. both new and old players loved to see it, every new player reaction i have seen since then was awed by the intro cutscene and fluid tutorial mission, though it didnt fix the problem that once that was over they were dropped in cold water just as much as with the old tutorial before that. Adding a whole seperate gamemode for people to start with is NOT how this should be done at all. a much better update for newer players would have been to add more or revamp existing old story quests that pertain to the early game, as those are still very basic and confusing, with a huge gap of nothing happening for three planets straight around saturn.

One thing to note that’s come out of Duviri that has been amazing for veteran players has been the end game weapon variation modifying items. The Incarnon mods have been super fun to use. The harder-mode (Steel Path) version of the Circuit (the endless Warframe mode in Duviri) has also been a lot of fun to do to farm those mods.

I've been playing Warframe since it was called dark sector. Warframe is a shit game for many reasons. Digital Extremes refuses to change anything about the game and to this day has one of the biggest issues of player retention. There's far too much available content for new players with nothing being locked. Endgame content should not be available to rank 8 players. From the very beginning the game is overwhelming with one of the worst "tutorials". There is absolutely zero in-game knowledge of how to use mods or some of the most important features of the game. You have to use third-party tools so that you can learn what to do and any game that doesn't teach you an important core mechanic is shit. I haven't actually played Warframe for a long time now and within 30 minutes of trying out Duviri I was bored. It's the same f*cking grind day in and day out.
@fenchellforelle

"I've been playing Warframe since it was called dark sector." 1 - Warframe was never called Dark Sector, thats a different game not even set in the same universe. It was an inspiration for the warframes, the glaive and the infested faction, but thats where the connection ends. 2 - You cant start your comment saying you have been playing a game for 10 years then end it with "i havent played for a long time now and got bored after 30 minutes", thats contradictory in itself. I agree that there is too much emphasis on making all content available to all player, its not necessary and honestly makes the progression less fun when they already have access to everything, and i also agree that the game not explaining its many many intricate mechanics is a huge problem for newer players that STILL goes unadressed while they would rather make a worse intro quest for people to choose only to realize they still have to play the actual tutorial afterwards. Reworking some of the old quests that you play early in the game to have more flair and maybe involve some less explained systems more would have been a much more substantial improvement to the new player experience, since until you play Natah halfway through the starchart its basically all really old stiff quests players tend to run through rather begrudgingly - if at all

The game is fun if you have brains that is, modding stuff is easy af, and players always help each other, the tutorials explain enough, after that you master the system, the game isnt suppose to hold your hand with the tutorials, it should explain the basics and have you master them Also, you haven't played duvari or warframe if you haven't played the game for a long time. You probably just went to reddit and saw the first post complaining about the update and went with it. The game was never called dark sector. They are 2 different games If you played the game for 30 minutes, you would realize the diffrence, sure there is a grind, but this is an rpg, grind is a core part of any rpg, is like going to a vegetable store and getting mad for not being able to by meat, the game changes with every update and is getting better and better, you are just blind

"won't know who the characters are and its a bit of a spoiler" for the people who like the story, i'm happy for you, honestly. but gonna bit a bit negative here and say the setting/premise is the best thing about warframe, the actual story is hot dog water levels of bad. everything feels very superficial and at times full of bad choices/plot holes narrative wise. It feels like they're constantly trying to hit climatic moment after moment but with basically none of the set up for that kind of pay off. My investment in pretty much all of the main cast of characters has gone down the further I got through the story, with Ordis being the only character I like positively at the moment and that's only a little north of neutral. The recent cast of main villains were a fart in the wind, having an interesting premise like everything else in the game but failing in execution. Can't stand the player character in story quests. The shit they're doing with the void/paradoxes have dropped the stakes through the floor, if your character is ever in a bad spot, don't worry, time/paradox shenanigan's will bail them out. etc... gameplay/grind I find fun, but would never recommend someone the game based on its story

As a veteran Warframe player, I can certainly say the new content has nothing for me, as it is so bugged out, I can not play it all. Warframe just adds content island, after content island, never properly fixes the bugs on any of them, so there are dozens, if not hundreds, of layers of spaghetti code, and all these bugs and glitches stack and combine, and you get just crazy stuff that will just crash the client. Nothing that has come out, for over a year now, can I play. Duviri simply crashes the client. The Zariman missions are all bugged, I can not progress anything there, as at the end of every mission I lose all my progress. The new war content is totally bugged out also. The void storms but out and delete all progress about 80% of the time, so it is all but impossible to get the 'sister' weapons that you need to buy. The sisters themselves are still buggy too. I frequently get a but where the sister just keeps making more and more copies if themselves, At one point I was fighting over 100 copies of a sister, each with a tenet arca plasmor. The new player experience was always bad, and it just gets worse with every abandoned, 1/2 finished content island, and the additional crafting materials, and currencies that they all include. And now, they are just crapping all over the lore . . . the main thing that got me invested in the game in the first place. So much bad writing. So many lore contradictions. So many thoughtless retcons. It breaks my heart, and I totally understand why all my friends who used to play, many since the game's beta, are all abandoning the game. It is just so disrespectful to core players, when they pull this crap, and there is no reason for it, and they do it flagrantly.

It sounds like great content, but I'm really curious if they've done anything to fix the experience for returning players. Last time I logged in there was an incessant nagging voice and on-screen messages while I tried to make sense of my inventory. Trying to figure out what the hell it was and how to turn it off just resulted in me getting spoiled and finding out that no, I'm stuck with it. I could turn it off, but I'd lose all voiced comments that I'd still want to hear, and the on-screen nagging would persist. It's a shame, because it feels like there's a good game hidden behind the bad decisions.

You gave me a new perspective on this. while I am no vet, I hated that they brought this to the front of the game. Similar to the plains of eidolon launch when they put Cetus on the first planet it confused so many new players as it wasn't new player content. But as you put it here, making sure the great new stuff in their 10 year old game doesn't take ages to discover made me think of Josh strife-hayes' video "it gets good after 100 hours" and that's certainly a real problem for Warframe. What I hate now though is new players are MORE confused starting because there's now 2 tutorials and different games to choose from, I know they did a good job reworking that old intro tutorial, but I believe they should completely remove the standard Path now, just start players in Duviri.

Hello preach first(ish) time on your videos i am a Warframe player who's mildly knowledgeable at 1.5k hours(rookie numbers for Warframe) kinda casual but consistent as a player and a long-term problem of Warframe is the endgame "builds" (Warframe, mod configs, weapon choices)fall to meta strategy witch only change in years long cycles and scale to somewhat absurd levels (my point of evidence we have level caps witch is the software/game scale limit not ours) that the end half of the video was pointing out as a lack of options to build in duviri. I theories that the lack of build options in duviri is a choice to curve easy of power scaleing, since an expirianced player can make a single shot of drifters gun in duviri free play reach 9.something MILLION damage. As for mod tutorial i agree but rather than having mods in duviri i suggest they make a wholy new tutorial quest for mods that goes over all the simple factors of a build that merges or replaces multiple early game quest because the new players often lack the patience to listen to the lady on the side of the screen talk. Witch makes them miss and forget the story there doing leading to a similar situation to "retrieve 5 thing from dead enemies" quest in mmos like wow witch i know you are a vet of. So for the actually interesting lore the early quests offer DE should make new cutsences after rewriting the story of say earth to Neptune in to one quest (because Neptune is where the story kicks in to high gear) that covers everything essential in it like say synthisis modinding of course and arcwing (massive redesign also suggested), the foundry/crafting and streamlins the quest requirement gates and leavs the rest as is or unexplained we don't need a progression stop for a tresure hunt thats not explained beyond a blerb ai cephelon fragments (like the fragment style collectible lore in duviri were not pointed to at all only left to be discovered)

You can always use the auto assign feature in the mods section and just let it populate your mods slots. As you level up and get new mods you can keep going back and auto assigning them and it will replace mods for better ones. It might not be the ideal selections that the pros would pick, but it does a decent job for those that don't want to waste time in there. They really should teach new users how to that at least and suggest over time they go in and start messing with it themselves. They really don't explain it at all. I watched youtube videos of new players and they just skip over that section completely. Just leaving the slots empty.

As one of the longtime warframe players (and apparently I'm far from the only one pointed at this video.) Its a bit weird how a reveal that warframe and the community(at the developer's request) held so close to their chest for so long is now right out at the start of the game. I utterly love the duviri open world as well as the circuit. Although I recognize a weakness in that the veterans are (rightly, based on *looping* rewards) obsessed with the hard mode version of the circuit, and new players are unlikely to see much of the veterans outside of that mode in the circuit. At least until some of the harder to get warframes like Saryn get into the regular circuit.

With regard to moding the devs tried by having preset mod builds in every piece of gear you use in the warframe parts of duviri so your gear feels good and they tell you if you own the mods in the build which is good. but it doesn't prompt the player to look at ot understanding of the build they are given or allow them to change it in duviri. This is probably intentional so players do not get overwhelmed. Veterans know they can check the mod build before selecting the gear and compare it to the mod build they have if they own that gear. They can also understand what the mods are on the preset builds. I'm not sure what a new player's experience will be using a warframe in duviri not checking the builds. Then going to the main game like "hey, this doesn't feel as good" since they don't know how mods work.

Veteran here, there IS information related to modding, you just have to go through the dated tips interface, read things as you scroll over them extremely thoroughly, and know what your looking for in terms of what mods go where and what goes with what. If there was an in game lexicon of this that you could read as well as a proper tutorial of how actually placing mods in the interface works, that would be a HUGE gain for new players. With duviri as well, they've started rewarding augments, aura mods, and nieche drops that are normally a pain to get with the normal circuit rewards. Yes, it has some issues in terms of what you can get out of it, but I see what they were trying to do in terms of making it more digestible and exposing you to more of the game.

I feel that, in part, this was a means of doing a live-test of the type of combat we can expect in Soulframe (their new sister-developer's fantasy game). This will give them a platform to test and make changes to the base combat mechanics while working on Soulframe. While also doubling as a new game mode and introductory system for Warframe. Ultimately, I don't like the "maze-runner" style of the old base game content missions. Or the hyper fast and frenetic pace that the Warframes move and complete content at (I hate how "coptering" gave way to the super-fast and fluid movement mechanics in the game today). And so long as that's an aspect to the game by-and-large. I won't be diving back into Warframe. But this does give me hope on how Soulframe will play!

My warframe account was banned a couple of months after I quit for buying stuff from a 3rd party seller. I played when spin to win was king, but then they started changing it to nerf melee and make guns more important. It was not long after the first open world area came out with the eidelons that I quit.

Your audio is peaking quite a bit during this - it hurt to listen to for a fair bit. Had to turn it down to 30%.

I do think Duviri is a good entry point for new players despite all the bugs at launch.I also think its generally pretty fun to do although im underwhelmed by the oroworm "fights". And while it does create some weird issues with the story theres no way to really tell, i guess we'll have to wait and see for the new players that go the new story route. It avoids repeating the same issue with past mainline content, primarily, creating content islands with no or little impact in the rest of the game and its not a straight copy paste of a previous open world area with one or two things that is actually a new or change in idea.

Huh, never knew you played warframe, glad you play two of my fav games, 14 and warframe lol. I'm a relic when it comes to warframe as I've played since u7 and seeing the game grow over the years is an amazing journey on itself, I just wish they fleshed out the features and knickknacks they release instead of making newer ones.

That is my first thought as well. It is the most basic of movements.

From what I can gather, he knew that you could bullet jump, but not that it also worked in a vertical direction.

Yeah, you're right to point out that the mod system is very complex and overwhelming in Warframe. Too be honest as a veteran player I didn't pay too much attention to the re-introduction of the mission types as that is already old knowledge for me. Having said that the decree system is a simplified set of mods that do introduce you to the basic features: looking for synergy between two or more decrees/mods. Got a damage multiplier for an enemy afflicted with a frost proc? Ok, better get a decree that can proc frost damage. Warframe is running out of energy? Choose an efficiency decree. So there is some training for mods going on there. Armed with this knowledge of how the mod system is expected to synergise then you can start to look for it in the rest of warframe, where you will have more stats and mods that you can shake a stick at.

as a legacy player... the duviri pradox was not that good of a starting point. you learn duviri and then you need to do the other newplayer experience aswell. also condicering half of duviri makes no sense if you dont know previous lore quests.... and the other half makes no sense at all... and the little movment bit you included is the same as the one in the original new player experience tutorial.

part of the old warframe experience problem is that the devs assumes you have at least one friend that invites you or one mentor you met in the game that will kindly teach you how the game works. we (vets) are not meant to do pubs with total newbies.

duviri is spoyler for the second dream, thats kind of a big deal. All veterans know "THAT" moment, and it gets ruined if you play duviri first because it changes from a shocking reveal to a "oh, yeah I kinda get it"

Played Warframe since closed beta, almost 4k hours now. One of the biggest problems I find with new players is they get overwhelmed, frustrated and give up. This is because they take it on by themselves and don't ask. Warframe's community for most part is like no other. There is ALWAYS someone who will help out, explain or guide you. The community in the game is a point of pride. A good indicator of the community would be the general thoughts towards PVP. It exists, well it's dead body does. PVP brings toxic players and as a result it was introduced into the game DOA. So my advice to new players is 'just ask'

I loved the base game and found all their new open-world stuff horrible. They also made melee "better" by making me press more buttons. I stopped playing since then... maybe I'll give it a try again.
