He couldn't even ask him real questions about his opinions because they would be too inflammatory to have on the internet next to his brand. I think (and hope) that communities with low standards (accountability, integrity, etc) will eventually just implode without much outside intervention. Situations like this force the hand of Amazon to discipline people in a position of power that abuse that power like Dan Clancy. Things like this that gain traction and become popular news events will help Twitch as a platform in the long run. Twitch is very clearly one of those companies that had an amazing product/idea with extremely weak leadership. Just look at how they’ve ran their site… they still don’t know how to manage their finances or manage their content creators or enforce a logical disciplinary system… Twitch only has themselves to blame with all the other competition in the marketplace now. Just look at the companies like Apple, Google, Nike, etc… these empires have stayed in power for so long because they run a tight ship with clear goals. They know how to make money, give good customer service, and manage their operations. A good idea (Twitch) will only succeed for so long… you have to be good at the other things I said above. Capitalism is a beautiful thing

3:54 As someone who used to watch Hasan(even though it was 2+ years ago) a lot of it is the strong sense of community, a decent amount of people are lying to themselves or others to stay in that community because it almost unlocks an immediate warmth from others(even though its completely fake.) It was easy over the pandemic to feel so lonely that if you were already a social democrat or more sensible leftst, you could fall into it. A thing that got me to take a step back from him was his geopolitics. I honestly think he also has fallen into this trap I don't see a lot of people talk about.. Most tankies are rich white americans or foreign people whose parents are directly connected to the USSR, and might even be a psyop(Hakim's father was an Iraqi diplomat to the USSR and he is on deprogrammed. Luna Oi's father is the same but vietnamese. Both big tankie creators.) So it sounds schizo, but I have been consuming online left leaning content for 4+ years, and its something I have noticed. A western socialist will befriend(or even marry) someone with ties to the USSR, and all of a sudden completely lose their belief in democracy, which is supposed to be a big part of being a socialist.
@johannarivers57Сағат бұрын
Interesting. I can sympathise with the loneliness aspect, esp during the pandemic, but this is a first for me hearing about the Soviet parents/ connections idea. Granted, I never really watched lefty content. In my experience, kids of soviet parents (esp those who escaped or were on the victim side) are staunchly against. But maybe that's the difference - whether they were in the power positions or not

54:20 I personally think that social media companies should require some form of identification such as a drivers license number to make an account. When applying for employment the employer should be able to send in a form / request to a government agency that links to accounts attached to said applicant and their public facing messages. Don't really see why people could complain because all the information is being posted publicly anyway.

I like how Ethan is a Sam Hyde sympathizer is Hamas Pikers universe. Those two hate each other over a comedy disagreement over Ethan’s old comedy being composed of some Hyde humor.

My issue with Ethan is that Hassan’s behavior was fine when he was on leftovers and Ethan engaged in it.
@P.Z.E.R.OСағат бұрын
That’s fair but I think most humans on the planet when pushed would admit that how they perceive things changes when it affects them. It’s a natural thing. This is also factoring in the fact they were supposed to be friends and Hasan let his chat go berserk on him and said it was his fault.
@exploretheewebb2193Сағат бұрын
@@P.Z.E.R.O that’s true, but the argument is typically leveraged against black people when we don’t fight for lgbtq agendas and only activate when it’s geared towards us

Tbf, Ethan gave pushback at times, and Hasan GREATLY "toned himself down" or even backtracked for a large part of the show. By toning himself down, I don't necessarily mean that he had less extreme opinions, but that he chose to express his views in very moderate ways that more or less hid his power level. It's easy to understand why Ethan would give him the benefit of the doubt, when Hasan would eventually end it with a "Yeah, yeah, of course. But XYZ, is all I'm saying."

As much as I want a Ethan and Destiny to collab to happen, he brings up a really good point about how Hasan and his audience are just going to twist that into an “I told you so”. Both Ethan and Destiny’s position is made way stronger by the fact that they got there independently, especially when you consider that they have been pretty critical of each other as well (at least Destiny has towards Ethan in the past I know Ethan hasn’t really talked about Destiny all that much before).

Ok just one thing. Let me preface this with some qualifications, I am a Christian conservative republican Michigander who absolutely hates the idea of Donald Trump being in office, voting blue straight down the line this November And I do understand Destiny’s qualms and grievances with conservatives as of right now, 80% of them are unhinged. One thing I just think is going to make it hard for him to battle the intellectual virus in my party is the fact he seems to categorize “Nazi” and “Racists” with “Conservatives” as if they are just as deplorable, and as though that may seem to be more often than not the case as of right now, I think that may cause the undecided voters to categorize him in the libcuck category immediately because of that display of partisanship, whether it’s justified or not. Not saying you cannot be partisan but it is that display in particular that just had me thinking for a second but I may be wrong, I just worry about it because I value Destiny the most as of right now in this political climate, he saved me from falling in the casual conservative pitfalls like not believing the moon landing or thinking the earth is flat or 9/11 conspiracies or qanon, I’ve never seen anyone display such a factual basis behind their stuff but at the same time still make it abundantly clear where he stands politically, so I don’t want this to seem harsh. He’s doing Gods work even though he may not believe or particularly be the most “holy” vehicle.
