seems like they all have some type of factory defect, i had to take the blue piece on the left hip apart and flip in order to get the leg to slide in and face the right direction, stressful at first but really was no biggie once i figured out what the problem was, other than that, this is one of the sweetest transformers ever made, $100 brand new too so i can’t complain, he’s twice the size of my g1 trypticon and the details are amazing, full tilt with the necro headmaster make this set even better, full tilt is like a combiner mixed with a titan, a must have for every collector 😎👍

bsav 2 You are quite welcome and thank you for watching :) Yes it is true that in some episodes Metroplex was taller but I think that was due to the artists errors lol. I remember an episode where Ultra Magnus was holding one of the constructions like if they were rumble. Ha ha ha. Oh the good ol 80s!

So many complains abou the height, size also includes width, a good chunk of Trypticon's size and mass is in the tail, for that reason it is not as tall as Metroplex but it is considered the same size.

Probably the best review of Trypticon so far. I don't have him preordered but I'll likely grab him on sight at my closest TRU, Walmart or Target. I do believe he's too small in Dino mode but here's to 3rd party giving us "Brunt", some bigger legs, arms and a longer tail.

Nice review, compare two transformers titan class is really difficult, well done. Trypticon looks good but Full-Tilt as a head (titan) master was disappointing for me. I really was expecting this updated version of him.

Ramon Vargas Thank you very much. And yes, it was difficult to compare these two because of their size. Thank you for acknowledging that :) I see your point on Fulltilt but then again, their desire was to fit in with the Titans Return line which has given us many "new" headmaster figures that should never have been done. Galvatron, Astrotrain, Blitzwing, Prime, Soundwave, Blaster and the list goes on. It would have been nice if they skipped the "headmaster" gimmick on fulltilt and gave him better detail. I need to work for Hasbro! lol.

I have mine on pre-order. I think the Titanmaster should have been called Brunt instead of Necro since the G1 version came with Full-Tilt and Brunt. I'm still hoping for Scorponok in the future since he qualifies as a Titan. Also for the price the stickers should have come pre-applied or just painted on. The figure still looks great without them, though.

Hmmm, well I am only guessing they went with Necro since that was his Titan Master's name. However they should have included Brunt since he was the little tank dude. Like you, I am hoping for a Scorponok release and I am hoping he is better than the other titans they have released to date. if you straighten up his legs and bend his tail close to the tip it would make him taller. it would get him to Metroplex shoulder. if you bend the tail in between it would make him even closer to Metroplex's height. also if you tilt his head up.

4:20 - Comments about how some people are complaining that the leg is breaking on that ratchet joint 9:00 - Comments on how the leg doesn't stay in place properly because the ratchet joint is popping out I'm pretty sure that's the breakage that people have been complaining about.

That's not at all the issue people have been complaining about. The issue people have had is the internal ratchet joints in his hips which allow for forward and backward movement being too tight and/or breaking. The issue he shows off around 9:00 is a totally different joint in the hip that allows the legs to move out into an A stance when he's in dino mode.

Frankly - it's almost more concerning. That means it's possible that there are TWO issues with the hip joints and not just one. I was already nervous enough about taking a risk on this guy with just the one issue reported - adding yet another report of a whole different issue in the same damn area of the figure is just the cherry on top. Sigh.... maybe I will just wait for Takara after all..... :-| Well, either way - that's for the great review. :P

nakobass28 Honestly Thank you for your kind words :) I'm not sure if that'll correct it. I haven't pulled the legs apart to check. But as you could see from my handling in the review, mine didn't mess up.

I have the same problem with the left hip. It's off by almost half a click and when converting to base mode, it's always slanted. Very annoying and I thought it was just my figure. Also, the chest plate keeps coming off, and that's even when I've already removed Full Tilt and have stored him in his tail. It's just too loose. Since I don't use the gimmick function, I might actually just glue it shut. Lastly, I know that many would prefer to keep him in his G1 stance but you can get him to look real menacing by hunching his legs and spreading out his arms. It's hard to describe but if you play around with his thigh and ankle tilts, you can get some pretty menacing poses. The best way I can put this is if you could imagine Trypt with Grimlock's pose.

Hello. Well I am glad it isn't only my figure with the hip issue but I am sorry yours has it too. As far as the chest plate, I have heard that as being an issue on this figure but lucky for me, mine doesn't have that issue. I haven't really messed around with him in various poses like you mention but I will have to give it a go. I did play with him a lot though in his base mode after I shot the FansToys Omega review. Yeah! I got BraveMax too, I sold my Metroplex, because I was disapointed his transformations were just him sitting down as you said. I keeped my Brave, I still think he is the best Titan out there. I read about Trypicon´s height and saw he could scale with Brave. I want to get him as soon as I can.

I like the colors on Brave Max a alot. Even though that mold is old and from the 80s, it is still a great figure! I uploaded a video showing what Trypticon looks like next to Brave Max and well he looks about the same as he did next to Metroplex. Please let me know your thoughts. :)

If 3rd party make legs longer the tail will be shorter. I think if the tail will not touch the ground trypticon May tip over.

Jerome Lean I think as long as the legs have strong ratchets, it would be able to stand well. However like you mentioned the tail would look shorter and that may not look too good. I guess we shall have to wait and see if anyone comes up with anything. Maybe by the time you find him on clearance, someone will have a fix for his stunted growth lol.

Hey there. Well let me say this. If you like Dinosaurs and a large base where your smaller bots can hang out and fight on then yes pick him up. Now if you're not in a super rush to get him, you could always try and wait to see if he will be discounted. That may not be until December or next year. Even at his retail price, I think he is worth it. As far as the legs snapping off, I have been messing with mine a lot since this review and have not had any issues with them. Even if the gears inside the legs start to break, you can fix him rather easily. I hope that helps :)

The lack of electronics is disappointing. I've read that the reason this was left out was because they included Full Tilt, but that's a lame excuse since Fortress Maximus also has a smaller robot that's a headmaster, and he wasn't stripped of any of his electronics. Seems like the Decepticons get the short end of the stick once again. :(

Yea, I mean technically Godzilla is a Kaiju... but they're not mutually exclusive. That's like saying "Mothra's not a Kaiju, he's a MOTH!" Duh. He's a Moth Kaiju. Just like Godzilla is a Dinosaur Kaiju.... This guy's definately got more of a godzilla type body and posture than an "accurate" t-rex would, but that doesn't stop him from being a dinosaur. XD Haha I was totally kidding, but now that you mention it the local dino museum in Philly does have some pretty awesome giant robot dinosaurs. Too bad they don't transform. While it is true the removed that feature, I can only guess it was done to keep the price lower. I am guessing if they added that feature, he would have been close to if not over the $200 range. Or maybe they felt he was too big of a bot to add the feature?

I agree on that too, i mean he didnt have much mechanical wise goin for him in the had area other than that eating headmasters/ minicons thing, or the plug in headmasters and his horn lifts up and his mouth lazers dart out a bit, that woulda made it a LOT kooler your so right, even that woulda made it semi worth it, like coin toss at the very least!

Although i cant help but agree. i recall the projected listing for him to be relitively 250 to three hundred and if those were accurate i told myself if he could walk hes worth like 500 bucks to me for the sole purpose of seeing him stomp through Metroplex and Fortress Maximum, even a light up eyes and rroar like the guy below said would have made it worth the current price, but they just kinda botched him, the reason they removed it just engineering wise was to add that stupid leg raise/removal thing, which if the origional did not have the walking feature and they added that i woulda been like "Oh fuck that makes his other forms a lot better proportioned" and i kinda agree its a good placement in battle station and city mode but to put that over a walking feature was pure madness to me, like its such a small redundant feature, they even took out his tank decepticon and replaced him with some weird platform that locks in full tilt and also sorta looks like the tower/ lazer cannon but slimmer, which even that sucked because the origional had a button you'd press and full tilt goes shooting down the ramp which was fun to do cuz it actually gave the ramp a real use unlike now i suppose, and they took off all the small spinning attachments part which went with the walk, i wasent a huge fan of them cuz they never had storage but now trypticon has tons of storage but nothing to do with it in terms of his own parts other than the one headmaster full tilt had, ontop of aaaaall that they didnt even scale him to metroplex as high as i thought hed be, i mean even a trypticon head size shorter woulda been fine but they practically made him g1 size by comparisn, i know i know i sound like a wannabe critique but honestly ive had no one to tell this, and dont get me wrong im not suddenly making some random dude let alone you my go to guy for all this, but its like fuck man, he was the last titans return titan class and they gave him nothing but useless storage, a pair of wings, more storage, leg repositioning for transformation, those weird helipad things near his hips on both sides, more posable arms, and some intense "skin" detailing that kinda looks like framework and stuff, im sorry but he did not live up to the hype at all

Hey, you can vent to me anytime you want. I will listen lol. You have a TON of great points here. I mean you were spot on with the whole having him walk feature. While I never owned the G1 figure, I have seen it and liked the walking feature on him. Also leaving out the electronics was bad too. I liked the spinning detector dishes on the G1 Typs as well as the light up feature. As you and others mentioned, if they would have at least made some light up features and noises, it would have been fine. I mean they did it with Metroplex and FT. Max so why not Tryps? I am hopeful that a 3rd party company will give us some legs to make him taller and maybe even the tank he is missing. I mean when Metroplex was released they didn't include Sixgun and a few 3rd party companies made him so they're is hope for Tryps. I think something must be wrong with me, because I so love putting on the decals. I mean it sometimes seems like work at first, and sometimes I put off the bigger jobs (removing the decals on my G1 Jetfire and re-labeling him was a hell of a project. Really procrastinated on that one!). In the end it's a really cathartic activity for me, and I always feel like that really puts the final stamp on making the figure my own.

LOL, I don't think there is anything wrong with you. You seem to have more patience than I do. I think the last time I put stickers on one of my bots was removing my old G1 Megatron's stickers and applying a new set. That was like 12 years ago! Lol! But you are right in that it makes the figure look better. Too bad you aren't my neighbor because then maybe you'd be so kind as to apply the stickers for me :D

Toy Dojo I'm getting this just because 1 I like trypticon, 2 I have metroplex, Fort max and devastator, 3 metro needs to have a fight with trypticon

Just had a friend from "Down Under" send me one. I think he looks great in all three modes. I still have my G1 Trypt (as well as my Metro and Fort Maxx). If I had to complain about anything on this version, it'd be (obviously) the height in Dino mode (which isn't too noticeable unless you have him right next to Metro... and a 3p could easily fix that with new legs), in ship mode, for some reason I feel like he has a "head up his butt" syndrome (even though technically his butt is his front), AND them darn stickers (so many stickers!!!). Metro's stickers are still in his box... the only reason Fort Max has his is because I have the SDCC variant and they were already applied. But on a scale 1-10, good ol' Tryptzilla gets a pretty solid 8. Would have liked if he had some kind of lights or sounds feature (even if it was just his eyes lighting up and maybe a roaring sound). But yeah... I totally want a Titan class Scorpinok/Black Zarak next. Then maybe an Omega Supreme.

Ha ha ha yeah he does have that syndrome you spoke about indeed! You make a great point about the light up feature and maybe a roar. I mean they were able to do it with Metroplex and FT. Max so why skip the Tryps? I too want Scorponok to be next so he can go toe to toe with FT. Max. As far as Omega, even though he has a pretty hefty price tag, I am going to go with the FansToys version for sure! When Hasbro releases theirs, I will also pick him up just to keep sealed away. fryboylll That is who I hope for. I actually voted for Scorponok instead of Trypticon. Considering they had released Ft. Max and Scorponok is a headmaster, I thought it would be a no brainer. Oh well, hopefully he gets a release to go toe to toe with Ft. Max. Thanks for watching :)

They actually did make a 3rd party Trypticon, but was based on War for Cybertron, very expensive and comes in 2 ships.
