Hasegawa 1/72 Type 94- FULL TIMELAPSE BUILD

Wow just started watching this build. I built this exact model in the 70's. I always thought the wings were so cool because of how long and thin they are, this must have been a rather large aircraft in the day! Anyway, I'm 66 years old now retired and trying to relive my childhood... Okay back to watching, just had to say that...

Very nice work indeed. I love all the extra details that you added inside the cockpit and the plane's interior, they really added a lot to the model and really made it come to life. That is a really lovely job, well done on taking on an older kit and making it shine. The painted Hinomaru and rigging especially stand out. Lovely looking plane as well.

Great video ! I had to subscribe. I've got a tip for you. I noticed that you are using tape to plug the cockpits. I've used good old toilet paper for decades. Here's why, tp is made to dissolve in water. Using a finger tip apply drops of water around the opening. You can get a perfect fit for the hole. Once it's dry again it will be hard and when finished, just pull it out! Best method I've seen for cockpits and wheel wells. This brings back memories of the one I had back in the 80's. I wanted the plane you've done with the catapult but my aircraft modeler buddies talked me into the other kit of the monoplane. I built the catapult but I ended selling it to a friend who wanted one.

Mano, you knocked this out. I have this with the catapult, bought it second hand. Green plastic on the plane. I don't think it has fit up to this point as well as the white plastic. I could be wrong. Your tail planes seemed to be a near drop fit. I'm still struggling to get them level. I thought the fit of the struts to the fuselage to be dodgy at best. Still not happy. Other than that, very cool and unusual kit. Love your interior scratch building. Great color selections too. I'm gonna' have to look at that Vallejo silver. I'm liking this. You did a great job on this.

Thanks! I've been really impressed with Vallejo's metal colors. This isn't even one of there actual branded metal colors- it's just normal vallejo air. It looks almost as good and is WAY easier to spray than Alclad, plus you can hand brush it for anything else youd need a siilver for.

Yeah the later release with the camo paint job and a catapult has more flash and probably some warping. Your box is in great condition. Usually they are a bit cut up.

Thanks for what I consider an OUTSTANDING building video. Normally I'll skip thru a video, but not this one. Subscribed in hopes of seeing more of your work. As to the black used on the few recessed lines, think I'd of gone for a darkened red/silver look because the black seems to kind of jump out at you. I've got this and the other 2 float planes Hasegawa produced, but never built them because of the rigging between the wings. Wish you had shown how it was done. Now all you need is either putting it on a catapult or on the trolley gear used when it was pulled from the water !-)

Welcome, and thanks! I had a very similar thought regarding the panel line wash, and I probably would have tried something else if there were more panel lines in the aircraft. I only had a bottle of Tamiya Black Panel Line Accent Color, and was ready for the build to be done. The short version of how I did the rigging: A dab of superglue went on to one point- I put one end of some black thread in it until it dried. Then, I carefully put a dab of superglue on the corner where a strut met the wing surface, and carefully pulled the string taut until it set, and cut off the excess. It's not scale, but it fills the space. The reason I didn't record it is because it ended up taking me a solid 45 minutes to rig, and it kept coming apart and getting glue everywhere. Good idea on the trolley gear- I might have to m ake a video about scratch building that. I really wish HAsegawa sold the catapult as a separate kit, but the only way for me to get one would be to buy another one of these.

Nice to see you taking the bull by the horns. Just looking at the box, I knew this kit wasn;t ideal, but you make the best of what you have. If you haven''t already, go sub PLASMO channel, he will give you some good ideas and is daring enough to do things that even I don't have the balls to do.
