This way of combining religious & secular studies will alleviate poverty and help resolve divisions among Israelis. Kol Hakavod Rav Bombach!

I wish there was a yeshiva like this when I was in growing up in Israel at that age. Its about time we understand that having the tools to be able to successfully provide for the family is not against the Torah. This is amazing.

Thank you!!!! This makes me so happy! Hasidic boys should also get a chance to learn stuff other than the Talmud and go out and work! Well done and good luck!!!

This is terrific. The concept should spread. The idea of combining Torah studies and secular studies started with Rav SR Hirsch in Frankfort around 1860. This model was adopted in the U.S. when a few schools opened like this such as Torah V'Daas, YU, and others in the 1920s. When Torah U'mesorah was established in 1944, the concept began to take off all over the U.S. In E"Y, the Bene Akiva yeshivos adopted this model as well as the Horeb, Hirsch model (which did not spread). The HaYishuv HaChadash is the only Litvishe Yeshiva to adopt this model. The American model came to E"Y in Morasha. The ideal, in my opinion, is this model should be available to about 80-90% of chareidim and the other 10-20% should remain in the Torah only track. Someday the Chareidim will take control of E"Y, but they need a general studies background to do so successfully and to maintian a modern society.

Studying Torah all day with no breaks of other things to challenge the brain and body, could mean so many students brains shut off from the repetition, and thus don't learn well. When you break it up with other learning/activity like this Yeshiva, I'm sure Torah study has become more focused on the task at hand. I hope more Yeshiva's follow this route, it's good to be a well rounded person and you can be a very religious person and still have a knowledge of the outside world, and that broadened knowledge can help in your religious life even.

Wonderful! I myself went to Yeshiva in the same town of Beiter Ilit, however I was unfortunate that my parents sent me to the local Chabad Yeshiva there where playing sports and owning a musical instrument was forbidden, no Jewish history and of course no secular studies was taught. They had more of a passion banning freedom and bulling students than a value for an education.
