I used a lighter to melt the cut-off ends of the flexo-pet sleeve. That really kept it from splaying out so bad. Thanks for the video, as I intend to take the motherboard off and do some mods as well. I'll be adding a 1/8" jack with wires going direct to the speaker wires for plugging into the aux jack on a bluetooth speaker. Very simple sound augmentation solution, with no alteration to the pack necessary.

Awesome video! I would just paint the nuts brass like you said. The ribbon cable, I would take off and use some paint thinner on a rag to gently remove some of the black paint so it won't look so dirty and replace it. If you put a list of the the replacement parts you used and where you found them, that would be really helpful. I look forward to your future videos. Subscribed!

This is why I don't recommend people buy the length of yellow FlexoPET they need from etsy. From wirecare you get 10ft for 90 cents per foot. You are supposed to singe the ends with a lighter to prevent fraying. You probably paid like 15$ for 1 ft.

You should be able to clean that ribbon off make it look new, with some chemicals just be careful it will easily eat the plastic insulation. I think it needs a auxiliary battery bank connector, maybe just a cable to stick in your pocket, or just to plug in the wall when it's sitting stand, or put it in the side compartment. I agree 💯% it needs a louder speaker... Like maybe a wireless BluetoothTirbit Pro Somehow wired in, or they do make mini amplifiers Amazon "200W Bluetooth Amplifier Board TPA3116,DAMGOO" and maybe Ebay - " 4 inches 100W Power Subwoofer Speaker Unit Bass Loudspeaker for Home Audio " jut some suggestions

Weathering is a gamble on these. I actually like the ribbon cable on the Haslab. I have Fincher cable on my custom pack, and find it to be very stiff and bulky. That said the ribbon cable on my Haslab is MUCH more weathered than yours. It is easily 3x the brown weathering. I am thinking about cleaning it back some, but am afraid that the colored wires may wipe off also.

I have decided to leave my ribbon how it is but if you do clean yours up a little some carb cleaner works great just wipe it off immediately cause it can damage the plastic.

My cable sleeve frayed when I put it on but I actually like it; stills from the movie show it with a little more splay then the reference images do so I'm happy with the look tbh.

Thanks! I actually watched it last night lol. Great idea! I would like to find a way to do what you did but have the speaker inside the proton pack somehow. I think yours was outside of the pack right? Maybe I could install one where that little door opens up where that cubby is.

@@ghostbusterspluscollector9624 there is a an unpopulated header on the pack electronics board marked SPK0, this is a duplicate of the speaker output and you can solder an AUX directly to it. The packs volume control adjusts this also.

Burn the end of the yellow wire wrap, should keep it from unraveling more

There's also something called Fray Check that works on fabric to keep it from fraying. Might work on this too.

Are you going to have a video on replacing the black cable that goes under the yellow cover? (I was thinking of painting it, but I would like your method more, what were the colored wires you used?)

I already did a video on that a few videos back on my channel. The original stock yellow sleeve slides right off and you can replace it with the correct one. I found it on eBay. To replace the black cable underneath you have to take the motherboard/ the back panel off the proton pack to disconnect it.

Do you have to remove the back of the pack to access and remove the fake rubber wires that the yellow sleeve goes onto?

Yeah they can, they are just nuts they sunk into the plastic. You can see them from the back when you take the motherboard off.

I plan on dampering the sound and or making the proton pack sound effects so much louder that you won’t even hear the rumble motor. Because I do like the feel the vibration it brings it more to life.

The ribbon is more stiff than a real one but you can still move it any way you need to. Everything is plastic and rubber so it’s pretty easy to mod but I totally understand not wanting to brake anything. Enjoy my friend!

Gbfan forums- gpstar is the username. He put a 2 channel 50w amp and two pioneer speakers in it. But that runs off of a 12v talencell lith ion batery. I already installed battery, now Im waiting for the speakers and amp!
