Hasport vs EBAY - K20 Motor Swap Mount Kit

There are several motor mount options out there when doing an engine swap into a Honda. In my case, I needed a mount kit that will work for my 2000 Honda Civic with K20. I knew that the Hasport EKK2 was the one for me, but then I found a much cheaper alternative. Now there's a dilemma as I'm not sure if it's an exact copy. Well, I decided to purchase both to compare so that I can make a decision for the future of this swap. Let me know what you think in the comments section below.

As a multiple certified welder I dont believe those are tig welds based on the quick shot in your video there are methods if mig welding that can give the appearance of a tig weld to the untrained eye especially when painted.

@@Repsol000 both but many only ever used the piping ones just prefer a tig torch over a stinger or gun.

Full disclosure, the Hasport brackets are MIG welded. The welders here are pretty skilled and that's why the welds look so uniform. The welds on the Chinese made brackets are definitely of less quality. The company that makes these knock-offs is in China and also makes copies with the old Hasport logo on them. They are then sold by certain people and companies as Hasport mounts. This is particularly prevalent another countries. We periodically get them in for warranty and have to tell the customer we can't help them. These products are made in factories that basically rip-off US product designs and in our case try to compete with inferior products at a cheaper price without supporting the industry and pushing it forward. Hasport pioneers new mount kit combinations constantly including solving wiring, cooling, emissions and other problems to insure the customer has success doing what we all love. Making our Hondas more fun to drive. Please support the originators and and tell the copiers to make decorative tissue box holders. It's a bigger market anyway.

From looking at Innovative and Avid mounts side by side with Hasport, I would be comfortable saying that those 2 companies did not copy your design. Yet they are still able to sell their similar-quality product for hundreds less. I know Hasport mounts are badass, but sometimes you have to look around and realize how much you're charging vs the competition, for effectively the same result to the end user.

20 month review of ebay mounts with 1 track day, 4k miles DD and a couple autocross events. Now keep in mind my ebay mounts might come from a different Chinese factory so similarity in quality cant be guaranteed. The mounts vibrated so bad during the first few hundred miles it was almost unbearable. If you are under the assumption the inserts might be too soft you are very wrong. The vibration has gotten better with more miles put on the car but i will definitely be investing in hasport inserts for the 2 side mounts. Drivetrain alignment and fitment was spot on. I have a k24 with P/S and didn't have to cut the hood. Axle alignment has been good through 2 separate setups; 4x100 with DSS axles and now 5x114 with DC5 left and FA5 right side axles. In conclusion i recommend buying the Chinese mounts and then purchasing the hasport inserts for $25 per mount.

They are solid mounts. Any solid mounts will make your car vibrate.

Here is what you guys don’t know in the racing industry. What we do as programmers are measurements of the parts. The most importing thing about programming is making sure the bolt holes are properly lined up. Everything else is identical to the original parts such as has ports. Now, material will differ. Our dirt suspension cars if running aluminum are 6061. It boils down to material strength and your fabrication side.

I've been running Ebay mounts for 5yrs on different cars. Ej1 civic originally was k20z1 and after a yr and a half the urethane was pretty soft so I used liquid urethane and refilled them been good since now it's at 275whp 205wtq k24a2/k20. So for now on I fill the mounts. Also running 2 sets filled on my twin engine civic making 421whp 351wtq awd and the motors(both stock k24a1/k20 swaps) do not move

Dang! Saving $400 bucks? I would go with the gold mounts too. And idk.. the black brackets on the eBay ones to me, had better fatter welds.. it’s all about experimenting.. you can always swap them out quick, it’s not like they’re going Insude The Engine..

I’ve purchased the eBay mount kit for eg and recently purchased the hasport inserts and they work just fine , the eBay inserts didn’t last to long but I’m finding out that the billet and steel brackets are pretty much the same

Ebay mounts are good for about a year hard driving then the driver bracket will tear dc2 with tax engine type r transmission. But at same time could save money and add traction bar. Ive done both mount kits.

3 years later how are they holding up I'm doing a b swap and going with their kit I've done plenty of cheap ebay mounts oe or performance and never had any issues if it last years and break ill just switch to the expensive at that point as I got my money's worth lol thanks for the video 🍻

I just order these mounts same ones in black, spent my extra cash on fuel rail and clutch where it matters, and as far as the rubber if these go bad I’ll order the replacements from Hasport and install them in these mounts lol, great video tho I love it!!!

Bushing last about a year on the Emusa, but use the hasport bushings on the cheaper mounts 🤙🏼

The mounts are both (billet) billet just means they started from one block and were cnc machined to there current form. Now they could most definitely. And probably are two different quality grades of aluminum. Aaaaand the brackets definitely both look mig welded.

Did you get to try the ebay motor mount, I go into the ebay, my say hasport on the billet mount, but I using a S1 T bracket, I doing a K20z1 with CRV transmission on a EG, on EK swap they say you need EG subframe for clearance. but my clearance is bad, I can't get the T bracket line up, I don't know if a issue with the ebay brackets. Thank O just start following you.

Go ebay, will be a interesting exsperiment either way, id say it will be fine even of there are any differences. Because saving $400 is alot. The china EM-USA/EMUSA looks well made enough to hold some power. Plus if u are getting the swap Barred its gonna have to be stock, and i think the china ones will do fine on a stock setup. But who knows lol, looking forward to vids!

Honestly if I where not going to race the car and just make it a show car I'd go for the "ebay" parts because you don't need them to be extremely good. But if you going to race and put them under pressure then go for the name brand because its better quality and will hold up a lot more than "ebay" parts.

Well, since you have both, why not use the cheap one & keep the expensive one as a spare for a while just in case? I would also try swapping mount rubbers, see if I can look to the expensive brand in the future for replacements... In any case, even if the welding of the cheap one fails - which can happen with the expensive one - I'm sure you can have someone repair it... So as long as the cheap one fits(& you can use the expensive one's rubbers etc), they're good to go... =]

I would test the emusa mounts but keep the hasports because I’m almost 100% certain hasport does not have a $400 mark up because of the name brand. If they do, well.... i wouldn’t want to support them lol

It may have to do with the fact machining your own parts like hasport does. Cost alot more. From what I recall hasport is a small shop with a few mills. Larger shops can produce this part much cheaper with faster machines such multi pallet cnc mills, lights out machining, robotic welding, etc,etc. Buying material in larger quantities can save on cost. From a machining/fabrication of this part isn't that hard to reverse engineer and reproduce.

As if hasport is producing the mounts in the USA. I once bought an fuel rail from AliExpress which looked exactly the same as the one from aem. On the package where to stickers overlaying. I gently scraped the top away and on the bottom sticker was written aem. Mostly they just let the stuff produce in China for cheap and add an extra amount of value when "reselling" the stuff
