Hasselblad Light Leak Fix

I apologize in advance that I don't have a better view or better step by step on fixing the light leak seal. I wanted to just share an overview of the process of replacing this part. I said it was difficult in the video, but really, it wasn't that bad. Glad you were able to fix it. It’s a bit nerve racking at first but once done, you’re happy to get back to taking pictures. The savings from doing it at home is a plus as well.

I totally agree! It works perfectly now with no light leak issues. The only problem I’ve had with this film back is when it’s super cold outside it doesn’t advance film properly. This has only occurred when it was like 30 degrees or below. The gears probably need to be oiled or something. Some basic TLC needed. But in warmer weather it has not had an issue

Hi Lance, did you get over the focus behind the subject? Once I did have the same problem and found out that the focusing screen was upside down. You only notice that in short distances and 2.8 to 4 apertures. Cheers mate.

One question; light seal leaks occur through the dark slide slot and thus usually affect the left side of the negative. But the left side of the negative records the right side of the image, given the way light travels through a lens. Are the images you are showing reversed as the light leak appears on the left?

Same hardened to me. Dependent on if light was directly on the light leak seal or if i was covering it with my hand sometimes.

Excellent. That will fix it up. I’ve heard that you should keep the dark slide out while the camera is stored with no film in it. That’ll help the light leak seal to decompress and supposedly last longer

there is a second seal on the underside of the plate that was removed, why not replace that as well, probably not supplied with the kit!

I'm wondering if all of the photos had leaks or just a few. I'm confused because I get light leaks on some but not others....

Thomas Cohen I bought it on eBay from a seller name blackbird711. He included a very helpful instruction sheet on replacing it. 😁
