Recently I had an assignment where the shooting was outdoors, and part of it was in the rain for almost half an hour. Both the X2D and the XCD 55v were free of any issue while shooting and no problem was shown afterwards. IMO the 907X CFV is more beautiful than the X2D, but the latter's got the enormous advantage of its in-body stabilization. Thank you for your video, it's always a pleasure to have a Saturday with a new one from your channel.

Excellent video - having had both, I agree with all of your points. I kept the X2D over the 907x purely for the IBIS since I shoot handheld most of the time and it makes a huge difference, and now with multishot it is very helpful for my studio tabletop/still life photography as well. That being said, I love the look and different ergonomics of the 907x too, and when you use the flip screen on the 907x and shoot at waist level, the top of the screen isn't blocked by the EVF like it is on the X2D. The 907x/28P is so small and fun to use. Now you've got me thinking about the 907x again as an adjunct to the X2D....

Yes, thank you. For me the 907 would only make sense if I also had the older bodies to switch the 907 back onto. And I do not. I just compared some test shots of the Q3 43 and the X2D and the X2D color is way better. This 100MP back/camera is just wonderful.

Interesting. As Pros we have 2 of the X2D's and one of the 907xCFV100c - we love them and won't be using anything else - special mention to the 907 though. It can be used 1 handed, and upside down, if you do it automatically orientates the shot - this is great for high shots when you angle the screen down towards you - it is also great for closeup work on a high studio stand looking down - it is just so compact - but its greatest benefit is on a tripod with people - the camera truly becomes invisible leaving you to concentrate on your subject - it is just wonderful and now of course you can add proper flash/strobe via the new adaptor - we use Profoto as their is a seamless integration between their on camera (A10) and OCF (A200) good stuff

What is the new adaptor for flash ? I have a 907x and havent seen anything new for flash, other than the hot shoe that came with it.
@nelsonclub77222 күн бұрын
@@superdave513 THe new 907xCFV100c - came with several updates over the 907xCFV50c - the dedicated flash bracket and connections was one, the update for the little side button was another - other things were internal 1Tb memory, removal of video and an updated secondary card - I don't know what that is as we don't use it. We love it but wish they would give it IBIs so we could take full advantage o f the update on our X2D's and grab 400MP - the X2D's are used on location so no need for it - and on a boom connected seamlessly to Pofoto and iPad is a dream come true
@superdave5132 күн бұрын
@nelsonclub7722 ah gotcha ! Thanks for the reply ! I have the flash bracket...and I agree with wishing IBIS would be put in the 907X...the main reason I bought it over the X2D is the ability to use it with my 503CW.

Thank you for a great video that is very informative. However, one key difference that persuaded me to get an X2D instead of the 907 CFV100C is the X2D’s viewfinder, which you did not emphasize. I also shoot film with a 503 utilizing the PME45 viewfinder. So as a viewfinder user, I feel that the 907 falls short. I would love to see Hasselblad develop an electronic viewfinder for the 907!!

Excellent video. I will say it also depends on the presence of absence of a primary shoot system. If you shoot Nikon, for example, you have multishot you have stabilization and fast focus. When you want to do a change to get your creative mind running the V system is a major change (what one is searching for). Also for fill aficionados, you can go with a MF film camera, and in case something extraordinary happens, you know you have your digital back with you.

I thank you for finally covering this comparison. Questions: is there any “cover” one could use to seal the CFV camera against rain, wind or dust. Something that covers the critical gaps but still allows you to access all the controls. Request: I’ve learned a lot from your videos on all kinds of cameras. Could you also add large format to the mix; like Linhof style. Cheers!
@mathphotographerКүн бұрын
Thanks for the positive feedback. As far as I know there is no cover to protect the 907X but as said in the video, in mild rain there will be highly likely no issue. Your suggestion for future videos: noted and many thanks :)

As an owner of both cameras, I realize that X2D would automatically choose a lower ISO and slower shutter speed and the 907X CFV 100C would choose a higher ISO and a faster shutter speed. The manufacturer compensates the lack of stabilization with a faster shutter speed. The difference in automatic ISO settings may alter image quality. Of course this difference would not be present in full manual mode.

If you could only own one which one would it be?
@Sniper53542 күн бұрын
@@GurmeetSingh-fr8uo I do not own old Hasselblad film camera bodies or lenses. If purely for photography I would definitely choose X2D. But if I have to attend events with formal dress codes, the elegant and classical looks of the 907X CFV100C makes it the only camera that I would pick, not even Leica M cameras. A 907X CFV100C with an Arte di mano long (120cm) black Boa strap worn cross-body matches perfectly with suits or black trench coats.

I can imagine they sealed the X2D better, because they are promoting it as a Street Photography Camera. So it should be more rugged. I think the biggest advantage for me would be the EVF. I like shooting using the EVF. What I dislike about the X2D is the strap system. You cannot use any strap you like. I like the compact form factor with the 907x CFV 100. It makes you less visible I think. I shot it in the past and it seems like people are less intrigued by it. Also. The compatibility with the "vintage" bodies is fenomnal. And they kept an eye on the design. It does actually fit the vintage bodies. What I dislike about the 907x CFV 100 is that you cannot replace the 907x easily. It is more or less just an adapter and should be available separately, but is not an asseccory you can buy at a dealer. I like that they removed the Video function. I think it is a smart move. Not every camera has to have a video mode. Like the Leica M Series. It is made for photography. Great video as always.

I own the Hasselblad 503cx film camera, with 4 of the matching Zeiss CF v-series lenses. I want to combine this with the 907X CFV 100C, just to see what images these older lenses can produce, with the new 100mp sensor.
@mathphotographerКүн бұрын

If I’m loosing an EVF, stabilization, a grip, smaller screen, and apparently firmware updates x2d100c I’m staying with 100c. I also have the 20-35. I would love to have a 907x100c it’s a fantastic tool because I do high fashion. But we also go outside and shoot in the outdoors with fast movement. X2D100C. Now how about add video to the 907x100C and we can use gimbals and things like that. Would be perfect. For its size. That’s why I’m considering picking up 907x50C just for video. Because the industry demands it. Also people shooting, it has face detection, joy stick is not a priority. It can get too sunny for waist level shooting, and once you turn it into portrait mode the screen adjusts digitally but not mechanically. Thus EVF would be preferred.
@mathphotographerКүн бұрын
Thanks Joshua, I should have also covered the EVF which indeed is a big advantage of the X2D. For the 907X you only have an LCD display or an Optical View Finder. Thanks for sharing and pointing out.

I think the DJI/"Hasselblad" cameras are too expensive. The one that makes best sense is the X2D. The Camera back is much too expensive, if DJI/"Hasselblad" makes a 55x55mm digital back and if they give a much better service, then I might get one.

From a practical reason, pick X2D. Choose 907X only if you own the old film camera and lenses. X2D is easier to use and does every that the 907X can do but better and easier. Thanks.

I dont get why the complaints about jo focus joystick. AE-D and recompose. Its blindingly quick and simple
@mathphotographerКүн бұрын
Guess you then have a better coordination on control wheels and/or touch screen than I have :) For me a joystick or four-directional control button is the most intuitive way to move my focus field.
@tobefree371822 сағат бұрын
@mathphotographer yep I agree. But I just leave the focus square where it last was and use the aeD button. Hold and recompose. Super fast. Back n forth with aeL. Lock both. For first couple of months of owning it I didn't get why they left those buttons there. But then realised using them regularly and building the habit, And it's much faster for both exposure and focusing than a joystick. It was another moment where I thought the design of this camera is fabulous. Those 2 buttons seem superfluous but they replace a joystick when handheld and using eyepiece. Otherwise just use touch screen
