Hastings - Tonbridge Railway Line Electrification - 1986

This video is footage in association with the electrification of the railway line between Hastings and Tonbridge on April 27th, 1986. It also shows some footage of the old Hastings Unit DEMUs. (Diesel Electric Multiple Units) on their final days.

Yes, British Rail knew how to market new train services. Chris Green was running Network SouthEast so no wonder it was an attractive offer. It got people using the new electric service in numbers from the start..
