Just a quick thank you; I decided last night to start stripping the car out with the intention of doing the job today--after about 15 minutes I could see the 2 x green wires in their connector, stupidly tried left handed to get out=no chance. Swapped to right hand and after a few choice words the connector was off & sensor was out !! Fed new one in awkwardly but it literally threw itself into the clips, wiring connected and start re-assembly. I started the car up and the aircon works, ice cold. So I have woken up feeling like I fell out of a tree, bending backwards over the sill is not good for me! today I will rebuild under the dash and have now found water leaking into drivers footwell, so I will still be crippled while pottering about with the car. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO, IT WORKED FOR ME.

Excellent video, I have a problem with my AC does not cool if the car is not at 2000 RPM, I live in Bogotá, Colombia at 2600 meters of altitude and on the Internet I investigated and found that the car does not cool because of the height. That's right? I always follow your videos, they are excellent !!

Good question, I'm no expert, but I believe the AC is a sealed pressurised system so the only effect of altitude would be external air temperature tranfer from the evaperator to the cabin. If there is less refrigerant due to leakage there will be less pressure and less evaperation. Your car engine will loose greater efficiency in the combustion of air/fuel. ;-)

You're very welcome and yes doing this is a pain. Check fuse 3 and 12 and check wires in engine bay from pump.The pumps on these can fail and new ones are too expensive. I fitted a second hand unit a number of years ago which is quite envolved and has to be done right with the refridgerant needing to be evacuated first by AC garage to save the planet. hope you can get it working again :-)

What about the LHD version? Is it still on the right side of the evaporator?

I am not sure. I believe the HVAC units are the same for LHD as RHD, so it would be behind your glove box presumably. Is your fan control switch on the left or right?

First you need to check if the flapper motor is working or stuck on cold. This is under the left side of the hvac unit. The heater matrix maybe clogged/failed, check if coolant has always been in good condition.

@@HatBoyHarvey I passed the water through the heater matrix and the water was coming out easily, but there is some rust on it, when I increase the throttle of the fuel, the heat increases slightly But when I move my feet back it does not give hot air and the same think happened when I turn on the AC it gives cold air for half hour and suddenly gives a hot air (I didn't know what the flapper motor is , If you have a photo for it , is it near the heater fan?)

flapper motor on left. Evaperator sensor needs replaceing kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqGzcqKMrZaqgM0 I believe (but low gas could also be issue). If Coolant level is correct then check fan, thermostat and maybe the water pump impeller has failed. uncommon but not to be ruled out is the control unit itself which OBD2 software would be able to diagnose (use first if you have access). Do the simplest and cheapest things first. Hope this helps :-)

Thank for the demonstration. A few days ago my 2003 Fabia suddenly started blowing extremely hot hair from the vents. The A/C was turned on and the temperature regulator was in cold position. Has it started it stopped in few seconds. Do you think the chauffage valve has problems? How that works in Fabia? Thanks for the reply.

It will be the flapper valve most likely that controls the hot/cold. It gets stuck on hot sometimes, which is a common fault on these as you may know and I am yet to do a video on it, but intend doing that one :-)

Did oyu have any dtc. Almost every fabia mk1 I have worked on has a code for an ac pressure sensor or ac control system.

When I replaced this I didn't have an OBVIOUSLY device so No diagnostics were used, just symptoms deductions. Wish I had though as it would have been interesting and a good diagnostics reference. Thanks for pointing this out :-)

Can you do me a favour please. If you know the issue, could you make a video on possible ignition switch fault. When it's cold out and I first atart the car, my fan, windows and rear wiper don't work for atleast a few minutes then they all work together.

Check the wiring in the A pillar bellows for breaks, if ok then check earth lead before removing it and then the drivers door panel off and check all reconnection by removing/installing. unlikely to be the actual ignition switch. Wet weather/damp effect the electrics on these, so check if there is a water leak inside the car :-)

Thank you for this video! Always when I have problem with my car I watch your videos. But this time I have another problem and I couldn't find your video that will help me solve it. The button with the arrow next to the one for the air conditioner lights up constantly. I push it to stop because i don't want the air to circulate in the compartment but after 2 seconds it comes back on. Where could the problem be? In the valve that regulates the flow of air from outside and inside the passenger compartment? I can't hear any air movement when I press the button like before. The fan works, but in rainy weather the windows fog up because the interior air is rotating.

flapper motor for the recirculating air has stuck, so you need to get at it, on the right i think, sorry haven't done that yet, but these servo motors can get stuck. When I get time I will cover these, but it won't be soon I'm afraid. the other unlikely thing is that it is the actual button. You could use VAGCOM or good OBD2 scanner to see if there is a bad sensor or two if you have easy access to those. My guess is more likely the servo motor, which you could in theory dismantle and fix if money is short. Hope this helps :-)

Hi Harvey.. Thanks for the great videos! Keep it up.. You have helped me a lot with my fabia.. I have done many things without going to the service center. I have one request about the heating and cooling. Actually, when I want to set the heating to half, I get either max warm or max cold. Sometimes I have no control at all, so for example during the summer, the heating comes on, so I have to turn off the car, turn off the ignition, and only then does the cold air come on. What should I do to make the flap half way? A big thank you! Greetings from Serbia!

Thanks. The servo motor for the heat/cold is renowned to be temperamental on Mk1 fabias. It is hidden under at the back on the passenger side of the HVAC unit. The control for this comes from the head unit on the dash. I'm planning on doing a video of this, but can't say when as I am very busy with work ATM. tal vez lo diagnostiquen con la máquina obd2 para identificar qué sensor está defectuoso. También asegúrese de que haya suficiente gas en el sistema.

Hi thanks for your videos they have come in handy , I have a quick question incase you know, I've regassed my fabia and when I put AC on the radiator fan cuts in but cuts out again , should this be running constantly? If so do you have an idea as to why it cuts in and out ? It cuts in again but cuts out . Thanks Carl

Does the AC work/ cold enough? If so, no worries. Fan control depends on sensors temp reading and interior and exterior ambient etc. The fan coming on initially shows correct function. Happy days :-)

I'd say it's intermittent, it's great while driving along and really cold but not so good stationary, I've read on a forum that skodas suffer from low speed fan resistors blowing out and the fan is cutting in on high speed so I am going to bridge the pins in the connector when I next get the chance , I've seen people have added an external resistor on the low speed side , thanks for your reply

When I say it cuts in I mean it cuts in for about 5 seconds then cuts out then nothing for about 40 seconds then it repeats the process

Do you have anything to show how to replace the heater matrix? I've used your videos to remove the glove box, dash and console but looks like the rest of the dash still needs to come out (mk1 fabia vrs)

Not yet, but you don't need to take out the HVAC unit or more dash, just a bit of duct at the front. Drain the coolant, disconnected the matrix pips in engine bay, take out screw and blow coolant out (is a must, otherwise it will be all over the carpet and will stink and rot it). Drop the box down and swivel it out to the side and forwards with the matrix inside.

All done. Got code "B1000 front driver side airbag fire". Not sure where to go on this. Live has shown it connected. Will check fittings. No airbag has deployed.

No doubt connection issue somewhere IMHO. Maybe easily fixed or take some time. Rarely will be the airbag itself, but still can be. Watch my latest video as I had a similar issue. :-)

Hi Harvey, I have skoda fabia 2003 mk1, I am facing the same issue. AC light when turing on turn on and, when i start the car, ac works for some time but then off again. Sometimes it works longer, but when i switch off and then on again, it's not working. Even if I increase the temp and reduce again, then it is not working. I need to stop the car.. try again with ignition off on multiple times to start it again, but sometimes even it doesn't work.. Tried at multiple garages, but nobody knows how to fix this. Compressor replaced, new gas filled. Some garages ask too much money to check and fix this.. Any idea what is thw issue..

Poss fix 1: It could be the flapper motor on the hot/cold. These are known to become r temperamental and needs renewing. The AC only works on cold, but these actuators get stuck on hot when the knob on the control panel says cold. They have an override and temperature control. Getting to this is via the glovebox and further. I would visually check this is set to cold by the flap and then test the AC in all scenarios again checking the position is on cold every time. 2: clean the interior cabin temp sensor located behind the heater/ventilation control panel facia. 3: change the evap sensor. 4: wiring/connector issue somewhere (does it work better in dry weather/ worse in damp weather? ) Hope these help.

Hola soy de Ecuador , tengo un skoda fabia año 2006 , hace 3 meses le hice cambio de evaporador pero desde que uso el aire acondicionado la alfombra de lado del copiloto y del lado del conductor se pone humeda , lo lleve a un servicio técnico para qe puede ser pero no saben , el desfogue del agua del aire gotea normal asi qe no se que podrá ser , se lo agradecería mucho si usted me puede dar una solución

Gracias por la buena pregunta. El proceso de evaporación puede hacer que la humedad del aire ambiente dentro de la cabina del automóvil se condense en el evaporador y gotee sobre la alfombra. No estoy seguro de si hay un desagüe dentro del evaporador que tal vez esté bloqueado, lo siento, nunca tuve esto. Si este es el caso, entonces será necesario que salga el tablero y se arregle el bloqueo del drenaje. También debe eliminar la humedad del interior de la cabina, ya que esto seguirá condensándose y causando la falla. Encuentre por dónde entra el agua. Fabias sufre un problema común de fugas de agua en la parte inferior de las juntas de las puertas, tanto delanteras como traseras. Los paneles de soporte interiores deben retirarse y volverse a sellar en la parte inferior. Asegúrese de que el agua no llegue a otros lugares también. Espero que esto ayude.

Hola mateo Disculpa la pregunta de q parte de ecuador? Yo Soy de Guayaquil, como indica el amigo hatboyHarvey es por las puertas que se ingresa el agua; es por motivos de las lluvias fuertes que actualmente pasamos por el invierno, haz la prueba sube el vidrio de la ventana piloto (con la puerta abierta) y con una manguera de agua No mucha presión riega sobre la parte exterior de la ventana y veras que el agual sale por la parte interior de la puerta donde termina el tapizado.. la solución es hacer cambiar los cauchos exterior de la ventana para que el agua no pase y en caso llega a pasar que sea mínima. Por favor si llegaste a encontrar otra solución dime por que yo también estoy con el mismo problema. Te agradezco. Saludos

If the AC light comes on this is not an indicator that the AC is working. Do you hear a hissing sound when you press the AC button? The compressors do go wrong and can be expensive to fix. My suggestion is buy one from a reputable scrap yard that guarantees their pump works. Do not evacuate the system yourself if it holds refrigerant.

Fabia'mla yaptığım şey buydu. Tüm sistemi yeni bir pompa, kayış ve alıcı-kurutucu ile yeniden inşa ediyorum:-)

@@HatBoyHarvey 2 yıldır sorunlar hiç bitmedi. Ww grubu birdaha asla. Senin yayınladığın problemlerin neredeyse hepsine sahiptim. Hepsini düzelttim. Motor komple yaptırdım. Şu an kapılar su alıyor. Ve AC problemli. Birde frenler kaldı. 😀

@@HatBoyHarvey bir sorum daha. Pompanın kasnağı AC tuşuna basıncamı dönmeye başlıyor,yoksa sürekli dönüyormu. Benim pompa kasnağı araba çalışınca sürekli dönüyor. AC tuşu kapalı bile olsa dönüyor.

@@matetakacs3358 A vezetői oldalt található, de egyébként ugyanaz a folyamat mint a videón. Ha van központi zár a kocsiban az megnehezíti rendesen, mivel amögött található a sensor és azt el kell távolítani, hogy hozzá férj. Egyébként nekem az volt a probléma, hogy a légkondi csak akkor ment amikor hűvösben indítottam be, ha már felmelegedett a kocsi akkor nem működött. Mióta kicseréltem azóta jól működik.

I own Skoda fabia 2005. I have same problem. Additionally, when I turn on A/C I hear sound from fans. Sounds like some air leaks. If i would change sensor it will go away?

ciao , grazie per il tuo bel video . avevo pensato di intercettare i fili che vanno al sensore dell'evaporatore in un punto più accessibile e di conseguenza taglare i fili collegandogli un resistenza fissa da 2700 ohm circa , tu sai dove passano i fili del sensore ? grazie

grazie, prego. Non so dove vanno i fili, ma se prendi nota del colore del filo e guardi su uno schema elettrico può essere d'aiuto. Posso solo supporre che vada al controllo della tensione sotto il cruscotto di destra.

I have a problem many years now. When I am pressing the a/c button to start air conditioning , all venting board starts blinking its lights and the a/c starts and stops following the a/c light. I have to stop the car , remove the key 2-3 times and then the a/c board become in well function condition. Any ideas?

Sounds like a contact fault, intermittently turning on and off quickly. I would check the main earth first then check all the connections to the control module and switch

ciao , aggiornamento , ho seguito passo passo il tuo video fino alla centralina della chiusura centralizzata? , purtroppo ho dovuto rompere il supporto per rimuoverla , era in una posizione diversa dalla tua , subito dopo ho visto i fili del sensore , ho scollegato il connettore ma il sensore non sono riuscito ad estrarlo , non fa niente , ho collegato un potenziometro ai due fili e come pensavo funziona :-) grazie il tuo video è stato di grande aiuto

srry off topic. Central locking question MK1 basic model ! wich series of comfort modules i can use to program a keyfob ? wich one you have ? .. i've see you have a remote fitted key on your mk1. wanting to change central locking (from breakers or scrapyards) to add remote locking currently on: 6Q0 959 433 H thx.

You need the 6Q0 959 433 E model to use remote central locking. You also need VCDS or have access to it and the right key 1JO 959 753 DA. I've never done it so I'm really not the best to help with this one, but it is doable :-)

@@HatBoyHarvey got vcds, thanks for the quick answer. ok so if the info you provided is verified i'll order one and give this a shot. great already have the keyfob in my cart .. guees i just needed confirmation. i 've seen someone do it sucessfully but with a mk2 comfort module 5JO959433A.

J'ai une Skoda Fabia la clim fonctionne une fois sur deux. J'ai rechargé le gaz sa fonctionnait puis une fois redémarrer la voiture la clim ne fonctionne plus puis après un moment elle a fonctionnait. j'ai tester si j'avais une fuite mais j'ai toujours le plein du gaz

OK, vous pourriez avoir un défaut de capteur qui est facile à remplacer. Le capteur intérieur de la cabine se trouve derrière la petite grille avant de l'unité de commande. Ce capteur est souvent obstrué par la poussière, il est donc facile à nettoyer. Le capteur d'ambiance est derrière le feu antibrouillard. Changez-les d'abord. Vérifiez si la pompe AC s'enclenche ou non.

hello, in my skoda fabia 2004 model car, when the air conditioner is cold, when I press the ac button, the air conditioner motor does not work at all, what could be the reason? it doesn't cool at all, the air conditioner motor works. I tested it manually, but it doesn't come on automatically. Could this evaporator sensor be faulty, is it related to it in my vehicle?

For the AC to work the hot/cold flapper motor vent needs to be on cold. The motor often gets stuck on hot so the AC doesn't come on.

@@HatBoyHarvey i turned the cold hot button to cold position , i press ac , ac light is on , fan i turn it to 4 levels but air conditioner does not cool air conditioner compressor does not activate . When the compressor gives energy manually, the system starts to cool. but I don't have a hot cold engine, the previous owner has removed it, I manually turn the handle to the cold position, do you have a video about the hot cold engine, if you can help me please
