Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial! The level of detail you put into filming from every possible angle is truly impressive. I know how challenging it must be to capture all those shots while working on something so intricate. Your effort to make everything clear and accessible is greatly appreciated. I’ll definitely be using your guide to tackle this on my own car. Thanks again for sharing your expertise with us! 👍

A lot of work obviously went into this video and it shows. I enjoyed watching. Did they make any diesel fabias with a timing chain? I was told I've got a timing chain in mine but it's a petrol engine.

Thanks, I really appreciate that. Yes, a lot to cover with this one, but I didn't want to do it in 2 parts so it could be better used as a reference guide to doing it. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it. The petrol 1.2 dohc has one.

Love your no nonsense videos mate 👍 and a nice easy guide for anyone to follow. Did you find the alloy engine mount bracket (bolted to the block) is a bit of a pain to put back in place? 😂
@HatBoyHarvey5 күн бұрын
You have just got to lift the engine sufficiently enough to get it in. I also found the engine flops back toward the bulkhead a bit restricting the alloy block from going back in, so had to re-lift engine holding it forward to rise more centrally. A little bit of a fiddle, yes, but moving the engine squarely is the key. It's a big engine in a small space, worse than a mini engine was, back in the day, in many respects.

As long as the pin goes in it should be ok, that torsion value can matter so ive heard so it is good to check what it is before you start really, i never bothered and the car feels sprightly enough.
@HatBoyHarvey5 күн бұрын
@@Izzy111R I thought it was good to show these pins can be tight, even when correctly located. My personal thought is that the pins overall diameter has increased due to chrome plating. Microns thicker than 6mm as a drill bit goes in a bit better. I'm wondering if dirt gets into the hole and a quick jet spray of something would clear it. Didn't try that though, next time I'll try that. Cars running better now :-)

Excellent video, I'm glad you've posted this as we have to do this job on my son's Fabia VRS. That car has the 1.9 PD 130 engine - I think that's the same as yours but do you know if the INA kit you linked is the right one? Cheers and thanks for posting - I've been waiting for you to post this as you mentioned it in one of your earlier videos
@jackduckworth11005 күн бұрын
Your son’s VRS won’t have an ATD engine. Early VRS models had an ASZ engine, which switched to a BLT engine around 2005. The good news is that this INA kit should fit either of these. The Parts In Motion website shows this kit fits either. There are plenty of other websites that will allow you to put in your son’s reg number to cross check

Thanks, been wanting to get it done for a while, but couldn't find the time until now. The RS has a different engine number, but I think this kit fits the RS also, but don't hold me to that. The anomaly seems to be for very early standard models. There is a compatibility checker on Amazon. So start there, then check the parts next to the ones you take off. Easier said than done as that would mean you've committed with the car in bits in this case. Good luck, let me know how you get along :-)
