Very interesting to see that the crayfish numbers are increasing. How delicate they are and rough all round.
@TLFarm4 жыл бұрын
That's a good question Yack because I keep telling Toon to be delicate with the babies. To date, as Toon says "I haven't bloody squashed any!" 😂

@@TLFarm ummm we started with crayfish after watching your video, then branched out into crickets, then Palm Weevils, then mealworms and finally rabbits... Yea its bloody additive...😂😂😂 Forgot to mention it, we use netting to allow the little one to hide from the big uns... The adults cannot venture into the netting...

Ahhhh rabbits. That's on toons list. What's your thoughts on them, any good?
@kom-bu-cha65074 жыл бұрын
@@TLFarm We are farming them indoors but "free range" not caged... I love the idea that 1 rabbit will produce 42 plus per year... They are easy to look after... The only downside is the harvesting... So we will have an agreement with an Aussie butcher who will come in and do that for us... We just have to catch them and put them in the holding pens for him... I think we will go out for the day... we will know a lot more in about 3 - 4 months time on whether we will carry on... We were looking at the rabbit meat to make jerky and the rest to feed our cats and dogs... we have 28 so it will help a lot with there food bill...

How do you guys know about water quality to keep redclaw. Are you checking ph levels or are you winging it ? Finally finished rendering tanks and let them sit for a while . Now am ready to order , but a little worried about temperature and quality. Always gone out to catch and eat never to keep and breed .
@TLFarm4 жыл бұрын
One of our viewers who worked in an aquarium shop put me onto using dried banana plants/leaves. After rinsing the tank a few times, refill it & add the dried banana matter. Leave for a few days, drain, rinse. We then refilled, let it stand for a few days, added plants, shrimp & snails. Nothing suffered so we added the crays. We don't measure the PH at all. The main thing is not to feed too much.

Thank you for this video, will Crayfish cannibalize each other if you keep full grown and small ones in the same fish tank? What do they eat? Why not crab?
@TLFarm4 жыл бұрын
All sizes can be cannibalistic after just a short time. Newly hatched crays only eat zooplankton initially but then it's every crustacean for itself. Toon wants to set aside one outside pond just for freshwater crabs . . . I suggested that there will soon be thousands in the lake. Salt crab is now expensive in Thailand. Even more so because of the prolonged drought.

Leigh what about the water in the tubs that you put mum and the babies in, does it not get to hot ?.. As it is not a lot of water so i would think it would get really hot and kill them.. I got lost.. why put mum in the small bucket after she has no young left on her or after toon pulled them all off the other one,, why not just chuck mum back in the big tank ?
@TLFarm4 жыл бұрын
Remember the CCT (Crayfish Cougar Tank) on a previous video? The stripped females are popped back in there with the male for more sexy time. Toon just popped them into the bucket until they had all been checked. The big tank next to the buckets is set up with the algae for all the babies once they've grown on a bit. There's already quite a few in there. The water temperature in the buckets is fine as they get little direct sunlight throughout the day.
