I developed an allergy to a chemical in the dye, but still was willing to dye my hair because my husband looks younger than me. He started growing his beard because it has white in it, so that I would feel comfortable with letting my hair go natural. What a man!!! 😍❤

Nikol, I was just thinking- You have shared more than once that you had a struggle with and came to terms with infertility. I think in this work you are passionate about, God has given you this way of using your ‘mothering’ gifts in this world. You are a role model, an encourager, a fierce defender, a woman who affirms others. It’s beautiful.

Hi Nikol. You are truly inspirational. At 61, I am more or less completely grey now, after 2 years. I have a few darker streaks within the silver and have been asked have I dyed it. So far, comments have been positive and I'm so pleased with the end result, which has also made life so much easier, not to mention, less expensive. After having been a natural blonde all her life, my late mum decided to let the grey come through in her 60's, which also turned out a lovely shade. Thankfully my colour is similar to hers. As with many others, Covid lockdown led me to do it and I'm so glad I did. Yours looks stunning by the way..♥️

Thank you for showing women that you can be beautiful at any age. I stopped dyeing 3 years ago. I went the route of a short haircut after 6 months of grombre. I fell in love with my gray hair. I love the broad streaks of silver. I feel more confident than I ever felt before. I am no longer chasing how I looked at 30. It's been so empowering to own my age and my gray.

I never receive compliments . I had to change the colors that used to look good on me Had to wear extra make up bc it washed me out. I plan on dyeing my hair next week at a salon after 3 yrs of trying to.force myself into thinking I look great thru the grey community peer pressure. It's been a depressing experience Thanks for validating us women who can't pull.of grey/ white hair. Wish there was a FB group or something group for us!!

@@emydixon gray hair isn’t always because of age so don’t think of it that way, it’s a natural process for hair to eventually ditch the melanin and in return it makes up for the lack of melanin by being more resistant. Plus, silver/white/gray hair is very fashionable and different from just having a solid hair color. And you can literally dye it any fun color free of damage

So true. Dark eyes, gold blonde or copper hair (naturaly a hideous brown hair color) ,so I stuck to all sorts of warm shades of clothes and makeup. It took 2 1/2 years - totally didn’t care. Then people started telling me how much they liked it. In the end, I cut off the brown ends into a Bob. I loved that too. Then I found your volume video, and it totally worked - I love it. Thank you for the encouragement and the tips on how to make it work. Silver hair is the best!!!❤

I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU Nikol for the encouraging message this post sends out. I’ve only just discovered you recently and feel like I have finally found someone who understands the transition we go through when we choose to stop colouring and go natural. It took me a while to figure it out as I would stop colouring and let my natural hair grow through a bit, then I would get scared and colour again, then stop and start over and over. Maybe a special occasion or event would sway my thoughts and I would feel I have to get my hair coloured again. Then one random day I made the decision. No pressure from anyone else, no particular reason but I just knew it was time. I felt good that I had made the decision but in the back of my mind it was comforting to know l could always go back to a colour so there was no pressure. I started by trimming a little off the ends every week by myself at home to shorten the length and as the colour line grew out at the roots and became prominent I started cutting tiny little sections off at the colour line. With my hair slowly getting shorter but still having the colour over all, I now had some unnoticeable short strands that were completely natural not colour treated growing out and blending in. Maybe once a week I would cut off a few more at the colour line and progressively the colour was cut out and because my natural colour coming through was a mix of white, light and dark salt and pepper grey, the re-growth looked natural and because it was cut at different times the different regrowth length blended in well. I’m now 5 1/2 months in and there’s no chemical colour treated hair left, I’m all natural and loving it. My hair feels so much better, looks healthier and seems much fuller than the dry, thin and brittle colour treated mess I so desperately held on to. Once I made the decision I stopped worrying about opinions of others and I’m happy to say …… I’m figuring this out! 💖

When grays come through I have no idea how I’m going to manage such a long lengthy process of being someone I don’t know? Right? It’s a strong contrast from black to gray. I can see you have managed it successfully. Well done! 🤝😉 It will take a long time to grow through and with respect I will look older. On some people it just looks different and blends in with skin tone. One some people it washes out the skin tone and the person actually does look 10 years older.

Awesome motivational video! Thanks! I started my Gray hair Journey back in September of 2017, and for inspiration I would watch your channel Nikol, and Erica Henry Johnston’s channel as well, both your channels were so inspirational, you both got me through the rougher days! I’m sooo happy I did it. I decided to go gray as a gift to myself, it was for my 50th birthday, which was on November of 2019, I wanted to be fully gray on my 50th birthday, plus I wanted to see my real hair the way it was meant to be seen in my opinion. I wanted to see my pattern of grays and white evolving as it grew out. It was a process, but I’ll never go back to the dye again. I only dyed my hair from the age of 41 to 47. I’m sooo glad I did it, I feel more confident than I’ve ever felt and I don’t give a damn on what “other” people think or what their opinions are regarding my decision to go gray, nor if they approve or if they like it or not. I really recommend this to anyone that is ready to go gray, it’s such an empowering, beautiful journey of self approval and self determination that is well worth the sacrifice! Stay strong and young at heart! 💪. And Yes!! I definitely get “new attention” with my gray hair now, it’s an attention of all age spans and both male and female genders, which is quite nice, and in this process I’ve also inspired other women that have asked me about the process, I’ve inspired them to do the same, and I’ve gone back and seen those ladies with gray hair now, so it is very exciting and empowering to make a difference. Thank you!

But this Video had just given me the boost that I needed.Because for a moment I forgot why I was doing this... You reminded me, I'm doing it for myself. Not because I need to but because I want to,I want to see the authentic me. With healthy looking natural hair that iv not seen in 26 years. Thank you for giving me that little boost I so needed to stay on the journey of self love... Also your hair is absolutely stunning. Xxx

Nikol you were such a inspiration to me. You and I have very similar stories with IVF. I was diagnosed with severe PCOS. I was told I would never be able to have children on my own. LONG story short, after years of infertility drugs, shots, IVF I finally just gave up. But God had other plans for me. I was blessed with two beautiful children naturally. BUT one thing happened to me a few weeks after having my daughter, I developed alopecia (bald spot) in the back of my head. I was so embarrassed and ashamed. But when my hair finally grew out in that spot it was WHITE. Now it’s my favorite part of my hair. It’s a reminder of how far I have come. I also went “cold Turkey” and shaved 🪒 my entire head. Thank you Nikol!!!!

So glad this Silver Movement is growing. I was so done being a slave to dyes and coloring during the pandemic. I got my grays from my mother’s genes. She was a slave to hair coloring. Every single week she’d be in the bathroom touching up her roots. When she was in her death bed she begged for her hair to be dyed because her roots were showing. I had to find a balloon type of hair basin for her best friend to dye her head while laying in the bed. Then, she had us promise to touch her roots up when she died and was in the coffin before the funeral viewing. So we asked for special permission from the funeral home to let us go and do her hair in the coffin in the back while they prepared her. 😳 Yup, glad I chose to accept my grays now so my daughters won’t ever have to worry about that for me. Go Silver Movement! ✊🏼👩🏼‍🦳🧑🏼‍🦳

It is a day by day journey when you stop coloring your hair...some days are great and other days it seems like the “end result” is taking forever. I’ve been growing my gray hair out for 16 months now and I have the grombre going on and I get more women approaching me asking me, “Who does your hair?” “What color is that?” I just giggle and say I’m just letting my gray grow in naturally. I get more compliments now than I ever did with just my dark hair!

We all have different reasons... I tried not dying my hair and didn't care for it, I may try it again... I am 68! I do celebrate aging but I dont feel having gray hair contributes to that. I do like pampering myself, when you get to my age it's hard to make new friends, so going to a salon is one of my ways of socializing, but in the last 15 years, I've noticed people bury themselves in their cell phones. Thank you for sharing your videos, I've learned so much. 💞 I purchased your book " Beauty Reinvented" and I can't wait to read it.🤓

I was tired of being a slave to hair dye so after 35 plus years of colouring my hair I decided in March 2020 to ditch the dye. My hairdresser was still open during Covid so it was just coincidental of the time for my decision. I went cold turkey and I am now fully transitioned. It's funny how I get compliments on my hair colour now but never did when I was colouring. I will never go back to colouring! Great video!

I color my hair and I don’t feel I’m a slave to it. I’m fortunate that I’m able to do it myself. So, not spending a ton of money and do not have to keep setting appointments. I have seen a lot of channels on KZbin where women seem to have as much maintenance with silver/gray hair ~ specific shampoos and products for brassiness, texture, etc. As long as you feel your best, that’s what it is about. I feel my best coloring my hair. It’s as if women that go gray are trying to convince the rest of us we’re slaves to our hair. It’s a choice. Let’s embrace whatever our decision is.

I'm 31 and the gray hairs have started coming in. I *love* them. I have always thought of aging as a privilege (think of how many people in history never made it to their 30s). I was discussing going gray with my mom this weekend and explaining why I'd never dye it and all she could say was "Yes you will" or "you say that now". And when I tried to find articles or videos about why our culture seems to hate gray hair so much, all I could find was person after person telling me how to "stop the gray" (as if you can). Thank you for bringing some much-needed sanity back into a world that's so obsessed with the beauty of youth that it's blind to the beauty of age. 🙏

I’m loving my silver fox look! At 52, Covid time was great for me to embrace the grow out.I often get asked how I got my colour from young gals as they want it. It was a transformation period but it was worth it. No turning back, nor wanting to. Thanks Nicole. I will say that my makeup regime had to change as being light skinned and eyed, my light hair made me fade me. I enjoyed learning more about makeup and the colours that make my eyes and skin pop. Just took it as a challenge. Keep up this awesome channel.

Normally it does not matter, I need to deal with the head space instead of changing my glory. I chose to fully embrace my gray after my youngest daughter passed away at 26. She will never have the opportunity to embrace graying. I get so many amazing compliments as well. Thank you for reconfirming and bringing me back to my why…❤❤❤❤

Great video. I started going grey during Covid while all the salons were closed down. Once the salons were open I went back to my "natural" hair colour. Haha. I immediately regretted it. I had very dark hair and it has been quite a journey going grey. I went to salons to try and hurry the process. I have been blonde, blonder and then green. Going grey is not for sissies. I so enjoyed this video! This will help so many women who are thinking about making the change.

I beban my journey in march 2020 and, as you say, I receive more compliments now than when I wore my black hair .. and, as you say, there is a completely different woman at the end of the journey. At the beginning, we all think "ohhh looks terrible !! grey hair does not look good on me !" we need to let it grow ... I did the decision to cut my hair very short, that was so helpful ! I took the easy way out. I bleached it out and through some silver dye in. I have short hair so I wasn’t too worried about damaging my hair. It helped tremendously. When I first bleached it out it was closer to platinum blonde but it made it so much easier. Now it turned out to be more white than grey but I love it. No more chemicals seeping into my body.
