I always considered Converge to be a metal band. I've had a few people on the internet get mad at me for saying that for whatever reason. They have hardcore influences but screamed and growled vocals, blastbeats and heavy as fuck guitars.....sounds pretty fucking metal to me.

@@spiderjerusalem100 they regrettably made the only good "metalcore" (I'm cringing while using the term) album (petitioning the empty sky) and never went back. Jane Doe is most everyone's favourite, and that's their grindcore album. Love that they did the 20 year anniversary split with Dropdead more than the split itself. Seen Converge over a dozen times (from MA), usually with Bane. Still lose my shit if they play homewrecker and obliged to pile on for the saddest day (it's just mandatory even at my age).

Met Ben at an All Pigs Must Die show, he was selling the merch. I said "holy shit, you are Ben Koller from **insert a million bands**?!" He replied, yes I am, that same Ben. See you out there" Awesome dude, and unbelievably talented as a musician.

I forgot they did a fucking cover of Disintegration at this show. Unbelievably bold move at TIHC that not many people could pull off. This was the second hardcore show I ever went to - I went exclusively for Converge - and it was pretty transformative. I wasn't brave enough to get up close or in the pit yet, but I got to shake Jake's hand afterwards, which was really beautiful for me. Shout out to Dropdead, Slapshot, and All Else Failed as well. Feel blessed that I got to see them all on the same day.

I don't know. I listen to everything and I've always been into music that gives the listener something with meaning and comple honesty. King Tubby to Beastial Raids, but this band is for me once in a lifetime. The lyrics and music present such a vivid and instant impact. Sometimes they juxtapose like in A Glacial Pace creating this portrait of two people with the world burning (or drowning)all around them, and other times the two come together in straight forward, raw brutality like in Homewrecker. So glad to be around to see this
