The "Strawberry Issue" has to do with how AI use the info you feed it. They convert all text into token values with is just numbers. So it literally doesn't know what an "R" is. You would have to ref the token value and ask it in that way for the AI to get it. It's just one of those early AI issue that hasn't been worked out yet.

@@matthew_cahill Because it's ultimately just a statistical probability tool like predictive text, where it's attempting to string together a likely set of tokenized words as a response. It's not surprising that it can be right, it's surprising that it can be wrong about something extremely simple which should give you a better sense of how untrustworthy that output is.

As an AI researcher, it's always enlightening watching these guys talk about it. Like it's easy to think idiots don't understand it, because idiots don't understand anything. But these guys are reasonably intelligent and are basically wrong about AI in nearly every sentence they say

Never underestimate the low intelligence capacity of people who are not researchers (in any field). The inability of the average person to understand and apply the scientific method to any issue and society's failure to teach them is the primary reason for its ultimate decline, although given the many academic expansions of the past decades, in multiple countries, it feels wrong to hold the education systems accountable. Most people are simply too stupid by virtue of their superficial motivations to really care.
@_Wombat2 ай бұрын
@@TwilightLink293also it's impossible to be an expert in every field. You can take the smartest person you like and you'd find plenty of stuff they had absolutely no idea about. The real trick is knowing that you're an idiot, Socrates had that worked out millenia ago.
@TwilightLink2932 ай бұрын
@@_Wombat I wouldn't call understanding the scientific method being an expert. Neither would I call the ability to critically evaluate presented data on a basic level, as a consequence of such an understanding, being an expert. It should be considered general knowledge especially given the vast levels of knowledge we have access to as a modern society. If anything such knowledge should enable anyone to truthfully realise that they don't know anything (enough).

I think when it comes to games and fiction in general the only time where I start to really draw the line is when it tries to introduce real people into that equation but even then it's not a hard and fast rule. I personally think fiction is simply that and people need to mind their own business when it comes to made up scenarios and characters

Funny thing about taking the driver's license: When I took mine around 9 years ago (focking hell -_-) I was part of a row of 5 cars behind a turtle of a driver. I was in the middle, clearly looked in the mirrors to overtake, no one there, and in between the end of that moment and when I began to overtake, some madman had sped past and overtaken all 6 cars. Had to retake the exam because of that...
