The current upgrade characters have been free. There is also a limited time free spring activity that I will post a video about real soon for the hanami season for the first two characters. The next character should be Ayase later this month.

Is this available in the US or is it for just in Japan only for now??? By the way I think your room is too bright, judging from Gatebox reviews, interaction is faster when inside for darker rooms.

Currently they will only ship to the US and Japan. I think it's actually fine for bright rooms as well since the projector still leaves some light noise. The problem in the video is that I wave at her instead of showing her my face. I think they're using facial recognition to recognize a human face.
