Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X PS4 Versus PS Vita Comparison 2

Another comparison video between Project DIVA X on PS4 and PS Vita. Three short clips of songs, taken from the recent trailer, are compared here. The footage first alternates between the PS4 version and (an upscaled) PS Vita version of the game. Afterwards, we compare them side-by-side using a split screen.

the vita is just a tad bit more blurry to the ps4, but they both still look good, and you can really tell that the ps4 is running at 60fps

imo, the ps4 ver just added shadows, reflections, boosted up the vibrance, made it 60fps and removed the post processing effects.

I know it's late, but only Miku's default model uses actual HD textures. The rest uses Vita's models.

At some points I like the Vita version better than PS4 in Vita its more colourful where as in PS4 it seems the colour is too dark or just not there like in the vita version

i know right love trial was ok but straggers the light reflects from the white was to white and the hair was to shiny for a place thats some what dark,lol the clothes were more dull in color and also in lol and stragers the skin is like two shades darker i like my vocaloids to stay a no.21 in innisfree cushion foundation

Really? I feel like the PS vita has washed out colours compared to the ps4. The colours are well defined and vibrant in the ps4 version. And the 3d is a lot more defined as well.

I almost prefer the softer look of the vita. Kind of hides the jagged edges and looks more "cute" in a way. The framerate is definitely better on the PS4 though.

Good to see both versions look beautiful. I'm iffy on the ps4 version. The graphics are better, but at the same time the better graphics and darker/more solid colors make it look a little off. I'd buy both, but I'll get the vita version first so I can play it on the go. Looking forward to getting my miku pouch along with the game. ;)

It's on the PSVITA which has a small screen and they could not put that much HD details except for the PS4 which connects to a tv so HD, have enough space.

The Vita suffers a little bit because of the lower resolution and framerate. But if you were to upscale the Vita's rendering, you might actually almost compare it to the visuals of the PS4. The main difference is the resolution of the textures and added directional lighting of the PS4.

This may sound strange, but I prefer the vita version. The colors look better on ps4 at times, but sometimes ps4 just makes it look unnecessarily shiny/oily or too dark. But then again, that's the thing I don't like about some animation in games these days: They feel the need to overly add things to show off what a system can do, whether or not it makes the picture itself look strange. God Eater on ps4 vs vita is an exception

The thing that I felt was lost in the PS4 version is the way the lighting really impacted the entire stage. In this video, if you look at the song Strangers, in the Vita version everything has a blue glow to it. That's no longer the case in the PS4 version. In my other comparison video for the song Cyber Rock Jam, the difference is easier to notice. In the PS Vita version, as the stage lights change color it has a dramatic impact on the scene and it really captures the mood of the different parts of the medley. This is also far less pronounced in the PS4 version. It's one area where I feel they could have done things differently. On a side note, nice to see Kat in your avatar! Are you looking forward to Gravity Rush 2 as well?

Yeah, I am! haha A little disappointed it wasn't on the vita, but I think aside from it probably feeling less intuitive on ps4, it'll probably be a good thing for it overall in other aspects, mainly processing. (Also, we finally get to learn more about the things they teased all over the first game)

Looking at the game on PS4 and the apparently massive boss fights, I can see why this simply wouldn't work on PS Vita. While the different areas in Hekseville were on the same level, they're now on a vertical level as well in the new city. It's really impressive. I also hope more people will discover the franchise now that it's on PS4.

I think on the vita it looks more like pastel wash blur compared too the ps4 ...hd and shadow dark colors 🤔🤔 I have a vita but seeing these The ps4 focused more on Graphic Quality and made it looked sharper

That's correct, I mentioned this in the description. At the time the PS4 version was only available in Japan so I couldn't record the footage directly from a PS4 yet. The later comparisons do use footage I recorded directly from a PS4.

4 reasons why i choose the ps vita version. dont even care about 60 fps and both versions are pretty much the same 1. i can play it EVERYWHERE 2. have to insert cd,switch on the ps4 wait for loading time and play the game which takes time. 3. just click 1 button to switch on vita, swipe and click and immediately play the game and i dont have to close the game. i will just switch on back my vita and straight away continue where i last stop 4. much more suitable on a handeheld compared on a tv

i like the PS4 versions better in all of these except for LOL which looks much cuter vita ver. i like that its a lot more defined in the PS4 ver but i feel like softer images suit LOL better and the color palette is better too for that song. the saturation doesnt work in the vitas favor for the other ones though, esp in the second one where the blue tone on miku kinda washes her out and makes her blend in with the background almost.

The module changes don't actually look like this in the full release, this footage is taken from the pre-release trailers, not the actual game itself. In the actual game, you can set module changes in free play but they still have to be activated with Chance Time. You can set module change to activate while watching a PV, but it will still play the transformation animation

Mmhh, the ps4 version is clearer but it really ruins the color. While in vita version, the character perfectly fits in with the backround, in the ps4 version it seems like they just copied and pasted miku in it! It doesn't change the tone depending on the backround like vita does, and the shadows are too dark! That's why I prefer vita :3

Why do they make the buttons very little on ps4 but big in vita? It would be better if ps vita had smaller and ps4 bigger in a small screen it's hard to get lost so tiny things aren't hard to focus and big screens make smaller things harder to focus on so you can get lost easily on ps4

Framerate improve so much the gameplay, the upscale from vita's 544p (less than 720p) to 1080p looks nice and they have to increase texture detail nothing else.... It sucks that Sega charges you the whole game again to play on PS4, they don't have to do the game again from scratch... i know they add some features buy come on... Graphics and physics are nothing compared to Future Tone, even worst it seems they never going to release those songs on PS4's Future Tone...

The PS4 has higher quality of the video and is more saturated mostly due to it more likely to be projected on a larger screen. Since a ps Vita has a much smaller screen compared to tvs it can be in a lower resolution than the PS4 game. Though some may say the softer saturation of the colors on the ps Vita is more appealing, I usually perfer bolder colors.

bought future tone future sound on ps4 and got used to the 60 fps, then i played the demo to project x on ps vita and i kept missing buttons because it was looking slow and laggy to me O_O then played the demo on the ps4 and was hitting them XD

For the most part, yes. Aside from the higher resolution, the 60fps framerate is also a big selling point for the PS4 version. But in terms of content they're basically the same game.

The ps4 version runs at 60fps, looks sharper, and clean. But I don't like the brighter colors. I get sick of every ported game having either washed out colors or brighter colors. I prefer the color pallet on the vita

It's only called "Project Diva X HD" in Japan. Overseas it's simply known as "Project DIVA X", regardless of the platform. I imagine the reasoning was that in the West calling it "HD" would make it sound like the game is a remaster and less valuable than a new game.

That's correct, at the moment it's only been announced for Japan. But it doesn't really require knowing Japanese to play it, so plenty of fans overseas will probably end up getting the Japanese version.

+Anime Kun It's interesting that you point that out, because this has something to do with the lighting in the PS4 version. It's very evident in the "Cool Medley" video I posted before as well. In the PS Vita version, the lighting for the stage envelops everything, including the characters. In the PS4 version, the effect is far less pronounced.
