this song is so special to me. i used to listen to it when i was way younger than i am now, maybe about six years ago. it always seemed like a song for only me, in a way. like i was the only person who listened to this song specifically. nobody around me listened to vocaloid at all, but for some reason this song stood out to me as one nobody knew about. in general, i loved vocaloid but didn’t really understand japanese at all, so i couldnt pick up any words or sing anything. but i could always sing this song. it just sort of stuck with me. i could always sing “ai wo” even if i didnt understand the rest of the song. there are lyrics for the full thing, obviously, but i couldn’t really pronounce them, so i rarely tried to sing the whole song. even if months or years would go by where i didn’t listen to vocaloid, this was one of the songs that i always remembered. “ai wo” would always get back into my head at some point or another, no matter what. i really do love starduster. i’m so glad that i found this song.

This is my second favorite Vocaloid/Miku related song of all time. I was gonna go on a long speech about how special Starduster as a song is to me and how much it impacted me when I heard it on a Miku concert for the very first time years ago. But as it turns out from reading the comments here, I wasn't and am not alone when it comes to how impactful this song is to people. A lot of you practically took most of the words out of my mouth. This song truly is an underrated beautiful work of musical art and deserves all the love and praise for being such. I can not stress enough how this song caused me to melt and fall in love with a damn voice synthesizer and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. Nobody asked, but hey: Out of all the songs 12 y/o me fixated on a decade ago, this one is a cute little number about feeling alone in the universe and wanting to reach out... and, probably because of the cat-related PVs, the one I still to this day strongly associate with losing my first pet, a rescue cat who passed while the family was on a roadtrip (to a funeral, no less). Back then we didn't know, but some of her behavior may have been signs of disease we could have treated or at least eased her through. I both did and didn't connect at the time (I'd wanted to do covers and was so excited about my really bad UTAU and that overshadowed "feeling things") why I can't listen to this song much or it feels too personal; I don't know for certain that she felt as much love as I, let alone we, had for her (and her sister, our other cat who has also passed, five years later in peace held by her favorite person) and I find myself reading the pleas to be loved as something I never heard until it was too late. Hope she's at peace now, mostly. I know the song isn't literally about a lonely cat, but I'm pretty sure I'll always read it that way.

I would argue that the best Miku songs can be found in the range of 50,000 to 500,000 views. Anything more than that and you end up with the archetypal songs (your 'Melt's, and your 'Rolling Girl's, etc.) In this sort of 'second tier' if you will, the best songs are found. I remember hearing this back in 2010 back when i didn't know what Vocaloid was until now. But still, i am coping with an huge depression i went through phase of life due to old-school acting very mean towards stuff and technology advance to the point i suffed so many low-self esteem throughout the 2010s. I ended skipping and missing out a lot of opprotunites not watcing so many anime and not getting internet during late-2000s owining to how my parents acted very restrictive towards stuff that beliefs it's bad for me to use these kinds of things. Even to this day, i still resent my parents for putting an misreable life and paved the way for me becoming an extreme nevous and concern about how i couldn't learn on how to use program to learn and improve in hopes that i can make a living for my future adult life. I still hate what i did during the 2010s, to the point i am going through neuropsychotherapy to talk about what i've did during the 2010s. This is song will always have special to me to this day.
