Yeah it doesn't really work as a vocaloid reference really. The entire dynamic of how vocaloids and vocaloid music gets made and published is pretty much entirely different.

Man, Miku English has gotten way better. I feel like an old fart for remembering the days when artists would basically have to strangle the program five different ways to make somewhat comprehensible English words from a japanese-rooted program. I've heard that Japanese is a lot easier to program phonemes for than English. Now... it sounds a lot closer to natural.

Well the Phonemes part is true because in Japanese Vowel sounds are always constant never deviating from the same 5 Vowel sounds after the base consonant sound, Where as in English we have close to 20+ Vowel sounds with only 5 Vowel letters unless you count "y" as our 6th Vowel (but the pint still remains).

The original game has at least three versions for every song, except for West songs, that are just two official, english and french (french sounds way more powerful imo) For Sayu, you have the normal, the vaporwave, the rock and the japanese version (the best one because of how she is depicted, if you ask me).

I remember having a visit to Metronomik. They wanted one of the boss design to look as much as a pop star as possible and Hatsune Miku came into mind in one of their draft. I imagine those ideas evolved into SAYU, given the fact that the artist is very good at drawing mermaids.
