Nice. The explanation was very well done! It’s been years since I put in a placket. I would have had to go back to my notes with scraps of fabric to try and see what I meant. This is much nicer

Very pleased to find this tutorial. I am making little girls' clothes for donation and the instructions on the pattern were disastrous. I was ready to give up because the pictures were very hard to see and understand. Before I gave up, I found this visual tutorial and it will work for me. I imagine several of the patterns I use will have plackets and your instructions were enlightening. Thank you so much!

Thanks, Maggie. I came into a 1940's p.j. pattern. The instructions are sparse. The pants use a woven waistband, not elastic. There's no pattern piece for what they call the extension and facing. I suppose it is expected that a seamstress would automatically fashion these from small rectangle scraps of the fashion fabric. I suspect your continuous placket is the intended method. Your instructions are clear. 😃

Oh, wow! That's interesting! I think I probably would expected it to have been rectangular scraps of fabric as well, but it sounds like this is a good alternative! I'm glad you found this video helpful!

@@HattoHem It's a made up title. I am imagining that it's the sort of thing Mrs. Crocumbe might have taught. However, the Historical recreation show just models/teaches cooking. Annie, the Professor who started the show might be interested in branching into sewing & mending demonstrations, but, probably not. Bernadette, Cathy, Morgan & all do so well with historical sewing tutorials already. My joke was that your pacing & presentation was like the extant cooking show. There's some lovely recipes on it though, maybe treats or dishes to make for your own household.

Thank you for this! I'm making a simple circle skirt with side seams (with pockets!!). I don't want to give up a pocket for a "standard" placket, so I'm being crazy and will have a placket about 1" above each pocket on the sides. Am I crazy??

@@HattoHem I'm learning that I don't know as much as I think I do about sewing and seams. I saw you have a nifty seam gauge/guide thing.
