Brenda and I take Lady and Bill down to haul some round bales home.
Watch our videos to learn about draft horses- horse logging, horses farming, and horse training! Jim uses Belgian, Percheron, and Suffolk horses to do work on the farm and in the woods. He teaches about harnesses, horse-drawn logging and farming equipment, horse feeding and maintenance, and voice commands for horses. New videos uploaded every week. Keep watching to see how Jim trains his new Suffolk Punch colts as he has trained his full-grown teams!

Very peaceful way of living, farming. It's always a lot of work and hours but very rewarding to your entire family no doubt. Have said many times even if you didnt know someone from Adam,,if you were around their dog for a few hours you would know what their 'master' is like,,as a dogs personality always reflects its owners personality (providing the dog was with owner from being a pup). Can tell by your horses their personality is the same as your's Jim,,Very content and attentive, and willing to work. Thanks for the great colors God paints on the Earth,, through your camera. .

Love to watch those two teams work. I could watch all day. Love how they respond to Jim's voice commands. You can tell they love to work, and don't ask for much in return. Jim & Brenda are great stewards of their land. Too bad more people don't follow their example. Our son went to Clarkson University and we made lots (and I mean lots) of trips through that area, on Route 11. That is God's country, for sure. God bless you Jim & Brenda. You are living life the way God intended.

The way you and Brenda run your farm could be a role model for many farms -a combination of real horsepower and modern technology, in this case the skid steer. Bravo. I must confess that I am a little bit envious of those flat hay fields you have, mine are all sloping in different directions. Who is at the camera when both of you are in the picture? Whoever had the idea on your place to share your life with us needs to be commended !!!

Jim, with all that lumber you have lying around, it might be a good idea to make some drop in floor panels for the wagons, to support the rolled bales more evenly. You may even be able to sneak an extra bale or two on, if the horses can handle that. That skid steer is your best mate when it comes to lifting weights like floor sections.

I wonder if the horses' willingness to move more quickly was because of the horseflies. I noticed the horse nearer the camera when the bales were being loaded was getting quite agitated at insect activity on its flanks, legs and backside. Can horses tolerate mild insect repellent on their nether regions? Is Lady the larger of the two Belgians?
