Not a lot of ladies around here who actually don't mind to get their hands dirty. And since I'm a city slicker, I find it extremely interesting to see all the work that goes into dairy farming (or any farming for that matter). So thank you for showing all that, Taylor and Brent. :)

Hi Taylor. Your beautiful smile is a great way to start your video. Not much going on but that’s the way farming is. Some days you’re very busy and some days are not. In a way your videos bring back some great memories for me because I helped my dad a lot on our family dairy farm. Those values from growing up on a farm are still with me today. And one day you will be saying that same thing.🐄🚜🌽😉🍩

Brent sure is a lucky owner having a hard-working farm hand like you. You work hard and do everything that needs to be done. You never complain about how hard the work is. Farming is hard work. Putting ha lime down reminded me of the times I did that on my uncle's farm. We used straw instead of sawdust, so our messes were a little bit messier than yours. If I remember, we used to lime our barn down every week. We also had the inside of the barn whitewashed every 2 ti 3 months to help control the flies. I sure do miss farming. but 86 years young is not the time to get into farming. I hope your sandwich was good. Great seeing that road trip. You sure make an interesting trip. Have a great day and God Bless

My uncle sprinkled lime in his milking parlor, i think they used a broadcast lawn fertilizer spreader. They didn't have saw dust, just a little straw spread about. This was back in the 1940's to the 70's. They also sprayed the entire interior wall and ceiling with white wash. Traditional manure gutters running to the rear of the barn dropping into a parked manure spreader in a covered extension to the barm. This was Hammondsport, NY. My mothers birth farm. Please farm safe💚

Taylor I just wanted to make a suggestion for spreading the lime. If you use a push broadcast spreader it will be lot easier and it will go farther and be cheaper for Brent to use it. Push seed fertilizer broadcast spreaders are very useful for milk barns.

When you were liming the walks I could smell the lime, 20 some years liming the walk twice a day in our barn I guess leaves memories. If you squeeze the metal tab tight to your nose on the mask it will block dust better and you will be able to see better. Glad you did wear the mask, that lime is a powder, barn lime has some powder but is not all dust powder. I hope the new sawdust helps your cows. Stay safe and healthy.

Yes, spreading barn lime on the alley with a broadcast fertilizer spreader is an everyday thing in Wisconsin tie stall barns. Quick and easy. Of course, we all understand that liming the stalls themselves was a special "curative" for that lousy sawdust you had. It was definitely the right thing to do.

The sound of the old tractors is the best! Sounds great every time you climb on the 1066 and crank it over. I used to be able to tell if the tractor was a JD or IH by the sound of the engine without seeing it. I think the 66 series was the peak of the IH line. Unfortunately, union and financial troubles caught up with them when the 86 series came out and they couldn't survive it - like so many others. Do you ever whitewash the dairy barn inside?
