Lived aboard for 7 years on our Catalina 470. Got rid of the accumulator and replaced the water pump with a quality variable speed pump...No accumulator necessary. One less potential leak and one less part to replace. It worked great. Love your channel BTW. Oh and the lack of a bow thruster will become less of an issue with your increased experience - It will actually make you a better yachtsman.

A new Aussie sailing channel. What a great find. Already in your first 3 vids, the quality of the filming and editing is obvious. Your background in television is an asset for that. I am a Master Electrician, anytime you need advise I will be more than happy to answer. I am not a Sailboat person, nor have I ever been on one. But, I have watched Pirates of the Caribbean.. lol. I have a large Motor Yacht we live on it 24/7. Electricity is Electricity. Watching you pull wire(s). Get a strong Jet Line or use a Fisch Tape, makes job alot easier. You need to be heading to the Caribbean where it is warm. Alot of work on the Boat huh? Consider this as your FIRST Adventure with alot more to come. Your 375watts is divided by your AC (Alternating Current) power which gives you the Amp load of the Panel. Keep in mind you will lose Amps if it is shady or cloud cover. Install a Volt Meter/Amp to see how much you are losing or gaining. Looks like you will only be able to use inhouse lighting when not running.

I don't know if you have this product in Oz but 'Liquid Wrench' or 'PB Blaster' will loosen seized fasteners much better than WD40. Use WD40 on things that you want to keep from getting stuck (it repels water i.e. Water Dispersant). But once it is stuck- forget about it. You need something with real penetrating power!

energy? 8:45 375Watts - in full sun, no shadows on all or part of the panel - at 24Volts, that is roughly 15.6amps - this will charge your phone in 2.4 minutes, though that would fry the phone! How long ago was this filmed? Hasn’t Melbourne been in lockdown for months? I think you might of been better off investing in a stern arch and fitting hard solar panels to reduce the shading effect on the solar panels. Which reduces the electrical output.
@KristinasTravels3 жыл бұрын
Hey Andrew, This was filmed about 3-4 weeks ago before Melbourne went into lockdown 4.0 actually! And yes, we agree with you on the arch and panels etc, but no one was able to fit them fast enough in Melbourne - everyone we spoke to had a lead time of 6 weeks - so we plan to get the dodger and bimini done up north with an arch down the track! 😃 We explored all options, but this was a compromise and the right option for us with winter fast approaching

@@KristinasTravels a modern iPhone has roughly 3000 mAh at 12V which translates to 36Watt hours… means in perfect conditions your panel with 375 watts delivers enough power in one hour to charge good 10 phones.
