Welcome back Connor. In Canada it’s federally mandated that maternity leave can be taken for up to one year (52 weeks) by one parent with no loss of job or the mat leave can be split between parents (ie. 6 months can go to mom and 6 months can be used by dad) Glad to see you two back together as you work well together and make the videos entertaining

I understand that 3 month of maternity/parental leave is considered _long_ in the US, so I'm happy you did get this much. As a european, I can't help but also feel a bit sorry for you and your baby as in my country the mother gets a flat 14 weeks - and then on top of it either parent can go another 52 weeks on 67% of previous pay and 104 *more* weeks unpaid (but with legal protection against being fired). I'm sure you'll make do anyway with such a strong brother- and sisterhood as SMFR seems to be, though. Stay safe out there - and please don't feel pressured by people to show off your kid on the internet. I know those comments will come, but ultimately it's not our (as in "the viewers") kid, is it? ;) All the best to all of you, my firefighting family :)

That is a very generous amount of time off, and impressive. In the states it depends on the company you work for, some are pretty generous with maternity/parental leave, others do the minimum. I have a friend who works for a major tech company, and he got more time off then his wife who works else where.

So happy for you Connor glad you and the newest member of your family is doing well:) im sure you guys are very busy but I hope you start posting videos more often again....so I have a theory I figure the more ride alongs that get recorded the more calls you'll see and the more exposure we'll get...so my suggestion....more ride alongs in general, "Full Shift Mondays" or something😂😂😂 where every week or month you do a shift with a different Engine or Aerial company....im sure thats a tall order but hey just a suggestion....the ride alongs are great!!!!

@South Metro Fire Rescue can you do a Fleet Friday on a reserve apparatus
@corycollier3 жыл бұрын
love this idea! Reserves don't tend to get enough attention.
@robertross76663 жыл бұрын
Would be a pretty boring fleet Friday. Crews transfer equipment from the down frontline apparatus to the reserve. So a fleet Friday on a reserve apparatus would be opening a bunch of doors and finding empty lockers, since the reserve typically doesn’t carry much equipment.

Your maternity leave in the USA sounds very good. In the Netherlands you can get 16 weeks off as a woman and 6 weeks as a male. And the paternity leave has only been passed by parliament in 2019, before that companies weren't obliged to arrange paid paternity leave.
