A story came to mind whilst I was listening to this. Would mind if I told it? ~ "Piano Man." He was known far and wide for his musical talent. People would travel from all over to hear him play the piano, and so, to not displease a crowd, he played indeed. Oh, how the people loved his music. It reminded them of sweet Summer days, of young love and of great joy. Yes, they loved his music.... but they didn't necessarily love him. They didn't know the man creating the music, didn't bother to know him. They didn't care to know about his love of books and animals, his dreams of finding someone dear to love, his plans to change the world for the better. In a way, he'd already accomplished his last goal. His talent brought people together. Only, it wasn't he himself that others remembered. Only his music. He knew this, and he knew it well. He was an ambitious man, one who wasn't known for giving up easily, so he decided he would do something about it. His home was a grand, luxurious mansion that had been in his family for years. It was admired by all, and any opportunity a person could get to be invited inside was seized. On one night in Spring, he held one of his notorious concerts at his home and, just like any other time, people flocked to the mansion to hear his music. He played all through the night as people danced, a wonderful party ensuing. Laughter and chatter rang through the halls, as well as the glorious sounds of the piano. The night was perfect. Only at dawn did the event end, and people soon left the manor, the man's songs replaying in their heads. However, the man stopped a young woman on her way out, inviting her to stay a short while longer. If he was honest, he'd had his eye on her for a while now. Perhaps it was her eyes that shone like sapphires, or her wispy hair that rested on her shoulders like dark waterfalls. Perhaps it was her sweet laughter that always brought a smile to his face, or her own smile that radiated with joy. Whatever it was, he simply couldn't turn away from her. He promised her more music if she stayed. She agreed. In the hours to come, the sounds of the piano continued on, all played for the sweet girl. She laughed and sang and danced, and one time, even played alongside him. It was a perfect duet. He convinced her to stay for the rest of the day, continuing to promise her more music. Like everyone else, she was infatuated with his talent, so she had agreed almost immediately. This continued for days. She came to visit him, to listen to his songs.... to even get to know the man creating them. Soon enough, he didn't even have to ask her - she came to the manor willingly. "I love you." He heard the words after months of her visits. He smiled. Finally. He had done it. "I love you as well." They made a life for themselves at that mansion, their love growing stronger each day. Music filled their lives, surrounding them with joy. Rarely did they ever feel unhappy. But outside of their perfect little world, the people began to notice a change in the musician. He hadn't played for them in such a long time. They knew he was still alive, for they could faintly hear the sounds of the piano drifting down from the mansion and into the town. Perhaps.... he didn't care about them anymore? Ever since that girl had entered his life, and especially now with the addition of their new child, fewer and fewer of his concerts had been public. Oh, this made them angry. This infuriated them!! They would not settle for the snippets of music they could hear from the town. They wanted _all_ of it. But, it seemed as though he would not be hosting another concert for a long while now. So, if they could not have his music.... nobody could. There was only one way to guarantee this. One night in Spring, the people stormed the mansion. Driven to madness without his music, they found each of the manor's inhabitants, and promptly ended their lives. The home was broken and ransacked in the chaos. Nothing was left behind. Some say that, even to this day, if you listen close enough, you can still hear his music still playing up in the manor. You might also hear the creaking of doors and floorboards, and an infant's sweet, innocent laughter. Nobody has ever dared to venture inside, though.... but will you change that? ~ Oh, this was so much longer than I expected it to be. So sorry about that. ^^' Would any readers mind giving me some reviews and criticism, please? It'd be greatly appreciated!! :D

That was a neat story, short and concise, not too long at all. It's quite difficult to pack that much into so short a text but I think you pulled it off quite nicely. A couple things I thought about as a reader were the amount of spacing between paragraphs and the village people themselves seemed petty, jealous and vindictive. Was that intentional? If so, that works to create a cruel world around the main character that he ultimately fell victim to. A few questions I had were: Did these townsfolk make any attempts to persuade the pianist to perform for them more? If so, were they simply turned away? Those are my thoughts, consider them if you will.
@etps44445 жыл бұрын
@@williamerickson520 Thank you very much for reading my story and leaving your thoughts!! Here's what I have to say in regards to them: 1. Yes, the townsfolk are supposed to seem selfish and jealous. They adore the pianist's music, but don't care to actually know him ((With the exception of the girl)). When they are eventually without that music, they turn against him in their rage, showing how vindictive they are over something as simple as music. 2. I didn't give a whole lot of thought as to whether the townsfolk tried to persuade the pianist to play for them more, but I can imagine that they did. Thinking about this now, I think that they would have tried to persuade him and that things went on as usual at first, but because of the pianist's new life with the girl being his focus, he gradually would have denied them more and more, giving more of his attention to the girl. This is where the people's jealousy would come into play. I hope these answers are what you were looking for, and again I thank for reading my story and leaving your criticism!! :)

This mansion is the villa of the Duke Gaius Flavius Draconius, Duke of Colonia Aquila in Italy, and Chieftain of the Nosferatu Vampire Clan. Draconius was originally a Roman soldier, born in the Third Century AD; eventually (and sometimes through unscrupulous means), he climbed the ranks to become the personal bodyguard to the Emperor himself. It was during this time that he was attacked and turned by a vampire, and concluded that he had been granted a gift by the dark gods of Tartarus. As a vampire, Draconius survived to see the fall of the Roman Empire in the west, and during the medieval period he became a knight in the service of higher rulers, and eventually was granted the Dukedom of Colonia Aquila. As Duke, he formed the Nosferatu Clan, which has the goal of bringing humanity under the rule of vampires forever. From this mansion, Duke Draconius oversees the operations of Clan Nosferatu, including their ongoing war with Clan Revenant, a rival Vampire Clan which believes that any attempt to instate vampiric rule will result in humans rising up to destroy vampires forever, and that the best chance for survival is to continue hunting humans from the shadows. Many have been summoned here by the undead Duke, from unsuspecting human victims whose blood sated his Hunger for the evening to other vampires whom the Duke saw as rivals and invited for a bloody dinner followed by a complimentary beheading or knife through the heart. In the cellar is a hidden room, wherein those who displease him are tortured; sometimes he goes down there to watch for his own amusement. Even when he dismisses his attendants, he is never alone in this place, for the spirits of his victims remain in its dark halls, watching the fanged, undead monster who took their lives as he continues plotting and scheming to achieve his ends.

Oh THAT piano, yes that's just a music box left on repeat. I'm sure you can track it down and get rid of it if it's bothering you. Drafty? Well where I come from we call that free air conditioning. It keeps this place nice and cool even in the middle of summer. And who doesn't like the dim gas lightning? *cough* Saves energy AND your electric bill. Could you imagine paying for electric lights? No way! Don't need em here! The moaning? That's just the spirit of opportunity saying "Boooo-uy now!" This deal won't come along again! -- oh-- you'll buy it? You don't even need a tour? I want to live in this mansion. It has the creepy style that I love and there are ghosts. It is just perfect.

A couple of years ago, my elderly neighbour died. His family lived some distance away, so we took care of the house until they could come and deal with it personally--opening and closing curtains, checking the mail, etc. One night, I went in to turn the lights off, and just decided to sit down in the dark and listen. You don't realise how many little noises even empty houses make until you do something like that...noises that were almost certainly wind blowing outside, the radiators making sounds as they cooled, a bird in the woods out the back, or a tap dripping in the kitchen. Almost. And those framed photographs that look so sweet look different in the dark. A bit more sinister. Like the eyes are following you. I lasted about five minutes of being certain that someone was coming down the stairs or creeping up behind me before I lost my nerve and nearly ran to the door.

My Mother heard her Father calling her name and she answered. He had died 3 weeks before. My sister had experiences at the College that she attended. Noises coming from an empty room. Someone running down the hallway but when she opened the door the noises stopped immediately. My daughter seeing my Mother almost a year after she died. She also saw the previous owners of the house that we moved into. She told me, "He's not happy that we're living here....he wants us to get out!!" I saw the previous owner as well....as a reflection on a TV screen. He was walking down the hallway towards the kids bedroom. I got up the nerve to go check and no one in there except my children....fast asleep. Very scary and spooky experiences that have happened to our family.

This goes so well as a background sound, and is rich and complex at the same time. It can't be easy to create such a soundtrack; I 'Like' this, and 'Subscribed' .

Nice work, very eerie! You can imagine hearing this after getting lost in a snowstorm in the middle of nowhere then coming across a seemingly abandoned house. That open coffin though... :o

“No live organism can continue for long to exist sanely under conditions of absolute reality; even larks and katydids are supposed, by some, to dream. Hill House, not sane, stood by itself against its hills, holding darkness within; it had stood so for eighty years and might stand for eighty more. Within, walls continued upright, bricks met neatly, floors were firm, and doors were sensibly shut; silence lay steadily against the wood and stone of Hill House, and whatever walked there, walked alone.” From "The Haunting of Hill House" by Shirley Jackson

Houses... are alive. This is something we know. News from our nerve endings. If we're quiet, if we listen, we can hear houses breath. Sometimes, in the depth of the night, you can even hear them groan. It's as if they were having bad dreams. A good house cradles and comforts, a bad one fills us with instinctive unease. Bad houses hate our warmth and our human-ness. That blind hate of our humanity is what we mean when we use the word "haunted". - Dr. Joyce Reardon, Rose Red (2002) Stand back! Protect yourselves! Who knows what evil lurks behind the hallowed walls in the house of the haunted! - Ed, Ed, Edd n Eddy - Honor Thy Ed Either we take our chances with the ghosts or become ghosts ourselves. - Robin of Locksley, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991) You see, nobody ever goes in... and nobody ever comes out. - The Tinker, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)

Step one - Play this on loop on a high quality surround sound system Step two - Turn the volume up enough to feel the vibrations of the subwoofer in your body. Step three - Turn off all the lights, lie down, close your eyes and clear your mind. Step four - Enjoy the surreal experience.

I've never made one of these, so I don't know about what effort it takes. But it would be nice to see some movement- like when the door creaks, the door moves... Or a ghostly figure goes across the balcony...

Surviving a haunted house is easy, just DO NOT INVESTIGATE ANYTHING!!!!!! Back yourself up in a corner with your back touching the wall. Hunch down and wait the night out. Guarantee you'll live and you'll get that 10 million easy.
