I like this type of music, but it tends to less memorable to those that have melody. This is ambient music, but I'm not going to classify since I love it.

I don't much care for this piece with it somewhat minimalized run on rhythmics but normally really like what he does with the piano and the music he makes from it.

Missing this for me is probably the biggest disappointing moments of my life. I was bored to tears in that god awful city. I'm so pissed at myself. Missing Hauschka for me is like finding out you had a winning lottery ticket the next day. SHIIIIIIIIT. He's my favorite artist, and to think he would play in a random ass city where I was randomly at because of a car accident. SHIIIIIIIIIIT. I'm pissed. I'm going to the bar.

Josh Mastel Here, I'll spell it out for you. You've said yourself that his "improvisations" are "tonal" and repetitive. I certainly agree about the repetitive. They are also so primitive and uninteresting that they make John Cage, whose music is rather simple and primitive, appear as sophisticated and complex as Beethoven by comparison. Wait, maybe analogy will help you. How's this: Nate Archibald is like Wilt Chamberlain next to this guy: watch?v=pcm_E7UoKLo . There, do you get it now, or do you need further explanation?

jaspernatchez Wow you don't usually find total jerks commenting on videos like this. To say this guy makes john cage sound like beethoven is absurd on it's face. You clearly cannot listen to music like this, nor do you at all understand what someone like this is trying to accomplish with their art. To not understand this is the same as not understanding any number of great experimental musicians today. To not understand this and claim to understand cage is hilarious. You probably have only ever listened to music you were told to by teachers. Don't make idiotic comments unless you have a point.

***** What is with the dicks trashing this music? Wow. Yeah I'll defend this, fine. Firstly in defending this, I will say anyone flat out calling it "garage-band nonsense" proves their ignorance. Also, in saying "if one has no clue what makes Bach or Brahms great, then one might be attracted to this or Lady Gaga or Eminem or Usher or whatever" is also incredibly ignorant. That is like saying Brahms is so much better than Aretha Franklin and you are a total ignorant asshole to make the comparison at all. This music however, if you have any idea about the face of experimental music today you would know, relates much more to Steve Reich, Richard James, Christian Fennesz, Thomas Ades, and the orchestrations of Jonny Greenwood. This is music that tries to tap into pulses that one can pick up every day and expand on that. In that way it is like soundtrack music. It is best experienced listened to in really great headphones while walking in a city. If you do not understand this and / or hate this music because your understanding of what music can be ended with a middle school trip to the symphony I highly suggest complaining about something else somewhere else. This music does not deserve your stupidity.

pete burkeet LOL! Exactly as I predicted - you are unable to cite precisely why this music is not garbage. It's primitiveness next to Brahms or Bach or any other good music can be so easily proven with the simplest analysis. Let's look at your reply, minus the name calling. You say I prove my ignorance. In argument, such a statement is an assertion that requires support with proof. You offer none - just name calling. In a vain attempt to demonstrate what you find of value in this garbage, you rattle off a few irrelevant names, then you babble about tapping into pulses and soundtracks (about as nonsensical as the music you're commenting on) and finally you make your case by saying it should be listened to via great headphones while walking is a city! LOL! Any particular city in mind, or just any old city? AAAAHAHAHA! I had you pegged - you're clueless.

***** I'll call you by your real name, Dick. It suits you just fine. Yeah listen to Hauschka in Chicago on the L train. As for your assertion that he sucks so hard because he does not measure up to Bach and Brahms you must realize anyone can say that. Bach and Brahms also made music for a completely different era so the comparison is a joke. If technically comparing art made today to art made in the past is your value judgement then why on earth would anyone make art today? If I take your judgement into visual art I could easily say everyone making art today is irrelevant because they don't measure up to Renaissance painters. If you care so much about technical genius maybe you can nerd out about it underneath a Mozart symphony. If you are so certain you are right and Hauschka is garbage maybe you should use your CAPS infused madness to tell that to his record label instead of people who might like his music.
