1/ „what are you sampling?“ do you mean what media? i sample almost exclusively from vinyl.. i sample straight into my MPC2500 and usually reaample individual chops into other samplers.. 2/ „how did i get the sound into the machine?“ in this case i transferred the chops from the MPC2500 (via a laptop) on an SD card and with it into the S2400

Great video and dope beats. So you said you used SD card with the machine. Whats your opinion on this compared to sample with the machine? I mean can you say what you like more by this time? How do you like the workflow of the 2400 compared to the 1200 (in general)? Oh, and you mentioned in a comment here that the sound is 'more like the emax (not as aggressive as the 1200)'. I think there is a big difference between sampling and loading a sample via SD card. Hope you don't mind another question: How does the 2400 handle a loud inputsignal? Does it kind of limiting/compress the input, give a nice distortion or will it end up in ugly digital distortion? Thanks
@hausundbaum3 жыл бұрын
i have not recorded into the s2400 because i have not been at home for the last couple of weeks.. that‘s why.. so i can not answer any question regarding input because i‘ve never used it.. i imagine & hope that the sound will differ when i record into (compared to transferred into it), though ☺️ workflow is similar, but so much faster and having a display (even such a small one) is great.. obviously you have to learn the machine since many options or functions are kinda hidden..

I have two questions, Is it possible to make trap beats on the S2400? And can it synch into Fl Studio?
@hausundbaum3 жыл бұрын
i might not be the best person to answer these questions since i rarely program trap beats and have not used midi connections with the S2400, but i can assure you that you can program practically any genre of music.. if you know the parameters (bpm, time signature, groove, …) you can easily program a trap beat.. regarding synching it has usb-connectivity and midi-connectivity: you are able time time sync as well as use it as a interface in (i guess) any daw.. i hope this helps 🙂

@hausundbaum3 жыл бұрын
not in the way an MPC or a DAW can layer drum hits.. at least not to my knowledge.. it‘s one sample per pad and no „simultaneous play“.. futhermore it‘s one voice per track, so you can‘t layer i.e. a kick with another sound in one track.. if i want to layer sounds i do so on an MPC and resample the layered sound into the S2400 😌

@Boef13 жыл бұрын
This is only stereo out. Most sp1200 videos, if im not mistaken, the individual outs are running through a mixer with comp, eq’s and effects ect. You rarely see cats do straight sp 1200 tracks With only the stereo out, like this. Maybe im wrong? This sounds really good i think! Good sample use and understanding of sound and sonics. Great video!
@Emileganja3 жыл бұрын
@@Boef1hmm i dony think i aree with that, ive used the 1200 in real life,on stereo outs without outbord gear/comp/eq,... still think it has way more punch/sp character on drums. Theres allot of sp vids with just straight stereo out i think, peace!
@Boef13 жыл бұрын
@@Emileganja You are probably right. I Never used one, it was just a thought. I got an emax 1 though, but I allways use it for resampling. Anyway, I think the s2400 sounds pretty good overall in this video though. Im not in need of harder drums on these beats. But It’s gonna be interesting to see if it can smack like the sp 1200.
@hausundbaum3 жыл бұрын
thank you guys for watching and your comments! 1/ i did not emphasize the drums.. what you hear is a combo of a line recording of the stereo out and the shitty mic on my Canon camera.. i could mix it more upfront on the S2400 to push it.. but i agree, there is a difference in harshness.. 2/ @boef1 a lot of the sp1200 sound depends on the board, outboard gear and on the mix.. so, yeah.. even in this case i totally agree and think tracked out versions of these beats would have more oomph to them 3/ the sp1200 does not have a stereo out, it has a mono mix out.. if you depend on the fixed build in filters, you have to track out your beats 4/ i‘ve stated this before: from first impressions i would compare the S2400 more to an Emax than an SP1200 because it‘s less agressive and surpringly smooth.. this does not necessarily take away punch, but it sounds slightly different (to me).. but i have to learn the machine more to really say something definitive 😏

Hey which do you prefer? The MPC or the Isla 2400 ..workflow and sound wise. I’m on the fence.
@hausundbaum3 жыл бұрын
it really depends on what you're going for and which MPC you have in mind.. i'll try to be helpful: the S2400 is a great, fun machine.. it sounds great, it's powerful.. it's easy to learn, yet has so much stuff somewhere in there that you need a lot of time to learn it completely.. for its size it is rather compact and with the case it's rather portable.. it's fast and you can make a beat on it rather quickly/efficiently.. there some limitations on purpose and you have to be creative to work around them.. from the new ones, i don't know the X, but the live, live 2 and the one.. there are very different in their setup from the S2400 but they offer so many options in regards to sequencing, effects and filters.. both sound good, but i really prefer the 'classic mode' sound of the S2400 to the SP1200 emulation on the MPCs.. is this your first standalone?

this might have to do more with me, my beats and my ‚mixing‘ than the S2400 🤔

That's the same i was thinking listening to all those s2400 videos.

Mission for me to set up my mix bus in my DAW to replicate the 12bit vibe on the master output.

i prefer resampling and sound design while mixing rather than in the mastering process, but it might be worth a try ☺️

@@hausundbaum You have the hardware that has the 12bit crunch so if I can emulate it in my DAW so it sets the stage and color and tone on the mix bus from the get for my beat making then it will be kool. Got some experimenting to do.

true ☺️ but one of the S2400‘s strong points is imo that you can combine 12bit with 24bit.. again imo: the bitrate is more important in recording the samples (or in a resampling process) than in the actual playing back of the music.. but hey, maybe i‘m totally off! please experiment and let me know if you‘re happy with the outcome 🙏🏻🙌🏻

@@hausundbaum Man no DAW outputs out of the box that lovely 12bit sound. That is what I aspire to achieve in the box.

very kind, thank you! if you have a good idea or find the right sample, you may create with any machine or software, but i totally agree: the S2400 is so fun 🌞🥳
