Having 4 hidden sidings means that even on a small layout I can run trains to a timetable. This adds variety to an operating session and also gives a reason and a purpose to the trains.
Filmed entirely from the rear of the layout, (showing the new frontscene to advantage) this video covers the first few hours of a typical morning. It starts with 2 locos on shed and then follows the various shunting moves necessary as they fetch their carriages for the day's services. The video then concludes with the first few trains of the day.

Time tabled movements, a history lesson and an excellent commentary. Just perfect. Regards Ian.

Fantastic layout you have achieved here. Really nice to see the old board getting use! I hope to have space one day to build my own layout again, something I have lacked for a good 15+ years.

Thanks for your kind comments. Using the old board saved time but where it was propped up against the garage wall for all those years it has developed a bit of a sag in the middle. I didn't notice this until it was too late! Have you thought of making some small building kits until the time you can build a layout again?

@@KV12543 I actually paint and play various wargames and RPGs at a local club (apart from covid of course). Renting a flat means I don't have the space for a full railway layout or gaming table currently, but at least I can store my various 28mm figures in boxes easily enough for now.

Absolutely superb, I too have been following your restoration journey with this delightful layout and it has inspired me to get modelling. I am pleased to read you are enjoying your running sessions. I very much look forward to seeing more of these types of videos in the future 😎👍 Many thanks for sharing and being the highlight of my day. Merry Christmas 😉👍

Do you have a separate backscene for shots like this (where I understand you would be looking over the rear backscene towards the operating area) ? I've been trying to make serious model railways for years but I must admit there is a kind of pleasure to a project with a fairly limited scope in size and cost and this kind of thing has been attracting me greatly, recently!

There is a backscene and a frontscene, both of which are removable for videoing purposes. Have a look at the previous video in this series for more details, Keith.

I’ve never seen your videos before but after watching this I have had to subscribe. Is it really only 6x4 including fiddle yard? It looks like it’s a great layout, thanks for sharing. Mel

HELLO, i HAVE JUST SUBSCRIBED TO YOUR CHANNEL. I WOULD BE VERY INTERESTED TO SEE A TRACK PLAN OF YOUR LAYOUT IF THAT IS POSSIBLE. CHEERS GREG FROM AUSTRALIA.

I don't have a trackplan but if you take a look at Episode 7 there is a diagrammatic representation of it. The only difference between that and the final layout is that I have managed to squeeze in another long hidden siding at the rear. Regards, Keith
Havant Aclew - a new backscene? no ....a FRONTSCENE.....Why?
