Björk is at her best when she is growling, squeaking, shrieking and making beautiful sounds in any language. Focus had a hit song (Hocus Pocus) with yodeling. Rammstein had a foreign language hit with Du Hast. It does help to understand the lyrics, but sometimes music is more powerful than words.

You can tell they wrote the songs in Icelandic first because none of the English lyrics to any of their songs rhyme.

Man, Einar is so good, the "Here Today, Tomorrow, Next Week!" critics were wrong
@antunivanovic2 жыл бұрын
No offense to you or Einar, he most certainly possesses character as a performer - but on "Here Today...", he is downright INSUFFERABLE! Revisiting this album recently, my personal feelings regarding his contributions on it haven't changed... There is just too much of him on that album - Björk herself sounds pretty theatrical and at times just as too much, but her singing added to these songs, his "singing" ruined a greater portion of it... Too bad, because essentially it is a good album, but some ingredients just don't mix well together no matter how hard you try and "Here Today, Tomorrow Next Week" is one such example of a daring experiment that didn't work entirely, the album suffering as a result... On the debut album, Einar's vocals were added for good measure. On "Here Today...", not so - and sadly I have to say, the critics were right.

@@antunivanovic You know what, as I listen to the album more and more, I find myself absolutely agreeing with you. While I love Einar and think that his contribution on 'Life's Too Good' was perfect, upon further listens I think that the charm of what makes him so great overstays it's welcome on 'Here Today, Tomorrow, Next Week!', so in that way I can now see where the critics were coming from.

@@antunivanovic I heavily agree, I listened to it recently and he downright ruined that album

@@RetroPlus I have to agree also as a SC fan. However there are still some gems on there such as Planet/Water and Tidal Wave

@@Mark-ku9bn Coincidentally those happen to be songs where Einar wasn't so present, those are definitely the better songs on the album.
