Have A Clogged Toilet? 5 Simple Steps YOU Can Do Before You Call A Plumber

Here's some things you can try to do on a clogged toilet.
The 3 most common things that clog toilets way to much toilet paper, the flushable wipes. I know they say flushable on them. But older houses with their cast iron pipe the wipes get caught on the build up on the pipes and they will stop up your sewer lines sooner or later.
Some of the things you can do is, once the clog occurs, let it sit for a couple of hours you know, three or four hours.
You can try a metal coat hanger, what I'll do is cut a coat hanger and try to bend it as long as I can and stick it up as far as I can to help break it up. The other thing you can
do is try flushing the toilet when it's clogged.
The more water in the bowl the more head pressure is on the clog and might help it push it out through. If the water comes up to high you push the flapper back down as fast as you can and that will stop the flush by pushing the flapper back down.
You can try a regular plunger or go to any hardware store and try a toilet auger.
However if you need to go to this step you may want to save yourself the time and money and call a plumber to get the issue resolved.
You also want to make sure the jets are cleaned out on you toilet. This is especially true for people on well systems with the calcium deposits.

Thank you for posting, this is very informative. What finally worked after trying multiple methods (we didn't have the auger tool) was a product we picked up at Home Depot called "Green Gobbler" for around $10. Just pour in the powder, wait an hour....and it cleared the clog! Hallelujah! I won't discount the fact that perhaps the detergent and vinegar/baking soda also helped in their way since the toilet was sitting overnight with those additives, although the toilet was still full before we tried the Green Gobbler. Anyway, I thought I'd add this comment for anyone who was at their wit's end like we were yesterday after trying so many methods.

What worked for a really clogged toilet, was the baking soda and vinegar, wait 45 minutes, plunge , (wait for water to get really low) then add really hot water with dish soap, then plunge.

i work in a very old building that has drum traps in the bathrooms i broke 1 snake in 2 pieces going threw the sink and snap the second head going through the top of the drum trap i even tried running the super v with just a straight cable with no head an old plumbers trick i learned i get about 3 foot in and hit something that feels like rock and i just cant break through it any ideas?
