"Don't compare yourself to other artists" I compare my art to my favourite artists to motivate me to improve - it helps me want to improve. If I didn't do that, I wouldn't see a reason to improve.

I'm glad that works for you! I tend to find many beginner artists that compare themselves to other better artists and think "what's the point... I'm not going to ever get to their skill level" and end up giving up on art. But I'm glad that you find inspiration from them, that's great! That's really the right way to go about it.

i've been learning to draw seriously for almost a decade now. i'm 32, and i have developmental disorder. which means that i learn slower than everybody else. i went from an artist who could barely draw a character below the neck, to an artist who can basically recreate a reference anatomically, depending on the difficulty. even my sister who is an art teacher, has told me that i draw like a professional. :P i'm a traditional artist, btw...:)

Hey TheModdiestOfMudkips, it can be tough to look at it that way, but I highly recommend you to not compare yourself to other artists. Try to have fun and focus on just one thing at a time that you want to get better. For example, if you want to draw better hands, check out a quick tutorial and fill 3 pages of hands per day for a week. I'll assure you you'll see improvement FAST! It's all about that good practice, just don't give up and focus on having fun with your art. Hope that helps, keep going!
