I am a drone user (I don't do audits) I am a drone user and its a hobby. I have all the correct paperwork like insurance CAA licence (even though mine is under 250) These auditors especially Dj Audits (AKA Nigel Dicks) gives us a very bad name. I do have a youtube channel bur mine has the video I take with information about the area I am filming. If I fly my drone at the park and people are there I will always ask before I take off and most people say yeh that's fine. Even had someone ask me once to film there football game so he could show of to his mate. These auditors give people like me who have a little hobby a bad name, people start getting abusive towards me when they see my drone because they think I am going to audit there business (which I have had a few times before) With idiots likes these going around it will only affect people loek me who uses drones as a hobby or even as work and will make it harder for us to fly.

Every work factory and warehouse in Britain needs to display this simple notice in staff canteens and notice boards . " If you see ANYONE filming without prior arrangement DO NOT MAKE EYE CONTACT DO NOT SPEAK DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE Every action gets a reaction , auditors know that no one likes being filmed . Zero reaction will make very dull content on the videos . Confrontation creates good viewing figures. Who really wants to see what the outside of a Biscuit factory or an Amazon warehouse looks like on the outside? If workplaces like those were so interesting there would be coach party's outside of every factory.

Agreed. DJ Audit comes across as selfish, obnoxious and arrogant. If he put himself in the other guys shoes responsible for the health and safety of loads of people on a site worth millions of pounds with heavy machinery being used he might realise why people are concerned about a drone causing an accident and don't want him doing it. He was outraged when businesses he audited started doxing his business address and suggesting people go audit him, yet he seems to think nobody else has a right to request privacy be respected just because he wants to make his videos. A bit of common sense goes a long way. I doubt his public liability insurance even would cover him if he did cause a major accident on a construction site resulting in a serious accident or someones death. One day he luck will run out and he could find him being sued by one of these big companies for millions or even charged with unintentional manslaughter if someone was fatally injured by the drone crashing down or startled by it.
@zoidster Жыл бұрын
The elephant in the room is this silly pretence that the “auditors” have an interest in the sites, when it’s clear to anyone honest with themselves that their sole presence is in the hope of provoking aggressive confrontation, which is based on site owners and employees being unaware of the problems where technology has moved faster than the law. This kind of entrapment will, in my opinion be key to promoting those changes in the law, but these things move slowly. It’s misunderstanding, nothing more. And these “Audits” exploit this misunderstanding to make money … dressing them up as some kind of “freedom fighters” and the site owners or Police as “Tyrants” is a bit of a reach to say the least. Silly little boys causing trouble is all.

I live in America. Businesses have airplanes, google maps, helicopters and drones that fly over their businesses. Some Auditors are rude, but 9 times out of 10 the representatives of the businesses get out of hand. If an area is restricted the drone can not launch. I have been flying my drone and all of a sudden it will not go any further. That is because the software stops the progress.

That appears to be the same in the UK. DJ Audits has explained numerous times that the software will prevent the drone entering restricted airspace.

Another thing DJ audits needs to educate himself on is the difference between SIA security and in-house security. In house does not require an SIA license if you're employed directly by the company for the site you're working at. I need an SIA license for the site I work at because I'm agency, not employed by the company. The other thing he gets wrong is "you MUST have your badge on display" - this is not strictly true. As long as you have your license in your possession and are willing to show it to confirm you're qualified to do the job you're fine. There's been an influx of identity theft because of stealing peoples badge numbers and creating fake licenses. I wear my license on a lanyard but turned around, so it is technically on display but I will only show it if needed. Too many badge numbers get cloned now and it's easy to screenshot a video.

100% agree. DJ, Veitch, AB, they're all toxic narcs with massive control issues, and they are massive hypocrites. The video where DJ was harassing a car crash victim at the scene was absolutely disgusting, and people have since posted videos of AB following a guy down the street in a super, super stalky way that raised so many red flags. When it came down to someone auditing DJ, he had a meltdown and couldn't handle it... meanwhile you have people like veitch contradicting himself every few episodes with regards to how he approaches people (when people do the same to him he cannot take it). The personality types with some of the auditors are often similar -- they are loner types that thrive on attention.... likely bullied when they were young, they have no partners, OR only date very young ones (e.g. veitch) that are easy to manipulate... and time and time again they'll disregard morality to obtain attention+profit. Unfortunately, as with all scandals, it is going to take a few more years before they fully unravel. Trust me. Come back in a few years time and I guarantee you at least 1 of them will have a conviction for something relating to abuse in a relationship. Unfortunately there's a lot of toxic people in the world that enable their behaviour for the sake of their own entertainment... and long term it will actually damage photography laws.

As soon as you said "the theme of the video is to be as vague as possible..." as to why you're filming, it's an easy answer because he's in a public place filming, it's not illegal, he doesn't have to say anything when challenged because he's doing nothing wrong. What people like you don't get is that a man with a camera isn't a threat to anyone, except to people who can't understand why public filming isn't a provocation. You'd have no views on your videos if you weren't slating auditors, perhaps you can do a few more videos of faux outrage or genuine ignorance of public photography laws and get more subscribers. Lets face it, if you weren't having a go at auditors you'd not be able to draw in more people.

You are missing the point entirely. If you actually watch his videos properly you would know he makes them for a number of reasons. Firstly to highlight both photographer's and drone flyer's rights. He has a much better understanding of the laws and civil rights in this country than the average person so by standing up to bullish security guards and the police he can educate the public who might be confronted by these people whilst they are merely enjoying their hobby outside. Instead of them freezing up and being intimidated, there's a chance they'll be able to stand their ground the more rights they know of as a member of the public. Secondly he audits places that are of interest to him and what he believes his viewers will find interesting. Unmarked buildings, operational facilities and he also highlights examples of environmental hazards, and points out where companies can do better. Look at all the great encounters he has with some of the friendly staff at places he visits, those are amongst his most enjoyed videos. People like to see professionalism, but people will also find watching conflict entertaining too. You make it sound like all he cares about is ruffling feathers for a living but I'm sorry that just clearly isn't true when you look at the bigger picture.

They would still have content - the interactions are funny but the likes of DJ and some others are there to look at the business and provide a view of industries normal people don’t know exist or may know little about - some are boring but others are fascinating Whether or not the interaction is positive or negative is usually down to the staff member. If you watch enough content you can see how they work - DJ in particular is a good example of this and gets some amazingly positive interactions sometimes but has no issues treating people how he’s treated

Yeah, the blue coat guy was just doing his job and did nicely ask them both to leave many many times. After DJ Audits needlessly and quite violently pushed him, the poor old fellas hands were shaking after it, as it was shocking even to us viewers. That’s really not cool at all. That’s somebody’s family member, someone’s husband, father, and if it was mine, I’d be very upset seeing this…as in very sad, but also quite vengeful. Good video, GGZII. It's interesting to read a lot of comments here by people who find the auditors' approach objectionable, to say the least. They seem to carefully control the comments and appear to delete anything which is not 100% supportive.

What is the point of filming a police station in a mask and when asked by the police they want to quote law to them, they are just a waste of time. But when they are in danger of being assaulted who is the first people they call?

Everyone is allowed an opinion without being attacked or judged so this is my opinion. Some audits are not very good and they do antagonise but I found with DJ audits he's very polite and sometimes when he's with someone else he can be a little boisterous but typically when he's alone I think he's actually very informative and in touch with the correct law. If it's lawful then why not do it. We know that not all lawful activity needs to be done because it can cause issues but it's content and people are enjoying the content and he's making money. He tapped into a market and it's working for him. So hate him all you like he's making money we ain't.

I've been a professional television cameraman for twenty plus years, and we're probably the people who did the first "audits" more or less by default. I usually won't tell people who I work for as I'm a freelancer and the last thing I want is for that person to hassle the person who booked me. That's my source of future work. That said, I'm very good at keeping it calm in a way both auditors and security guards tend not to. All parties come off as arseholes in the video. Still, I don't hugely object to DJ pushing the guy away. Hi-viz got right in DJ's face in a way that was not justified in the moment. Underneath it all I have some sympathy for the defence of civil liberties the auditors are (to a degree) defending as I often rely on those liberties for my living. In the end auditors should be keeping it painfully, painfully professional and calm in these situations to ensure they always come off as the good guys. It's not about what's legal and right, it's about what it looks like on camera. Very often they don't stay calm enough, and it undermines their whole approach.

It seems to me that this sort of "Auditor" always try it on with people who can't really react as a normal person would....Police officer who has codes to follow, security bloke who is doing his job etc. Now, if someone got in my face and pointed a camera at me while dressed like that, they would be getting a reaction that they would not like....and I think most people think along those lines. would agree

To begin with, there needs to be less drama with auditing. The drama gets the auditors views = cash for them. The auditors should make requests to audit, or have appointments, or contact a company for their suitability. I've seen endless verbal aggression from 'uk meets the tyrants', and DJ Audits rejoices in making people's working hours all about him. Auditors are very useful in the traditional sense, so maybe You Tube need to foster restrictions with hopelessly pedantic individuals like DJ Audits. Great video! Needs discussing.
@PhyllisGlassup2TheBrim Жыл бұрын
So according to you, a random member of the public should ask permission to do what he doesn't need permission to do? Are we to become like Russia or North Korea now where nobody is allowed to point a camera or fly a drone? "DJ Audits rejoices in making people's working hours all about him" I've never heard such nonsense in all my days. How is videoing interesting businesses, looking at architecture, hearing people talk about what they do a bad thing? He has zero effect on someone's working hours. They can just go on with their work. Or perhaps you believe that they should all stop and go onto the pavement outside and tell passers by not to look at the building and demand to know what they are doing? Have you ever watched DJ audits videos? He is immensely popular and not as confrontational and unpleasant as many of the auditors, like some vile racists who target immigration places. I'm subscribed to his channel and have learned *loads* from his interesting videos.
