I met someone at a wedding recently who said her mum smoked a load of weed with George Melly, then watched the first appearance of the Daleks in 'Doctor Who' in 1963 and thought she was having a bad trip!

Paul looking good. I always enjoyed Charles as guest. Ian is cute in a nerdy kind of way.

I remember a classic quote from George Melley when he said that coming out from his reduction in his sexual drive was like being released from the bodily restraint of chains (or words to that effect).

George is so very funny. 😅❤

It's striking how unpleasant Merton is toward Deaton, and how he so dislikes not being the centre of attention.

Attention thing for sure, he often steals people's thunder..usually with a less funny joke sadly. Still, history now.

What does Ian say at 5:51? Der Spitfire kommen handy hoch England?
@LoneKharnivore2 жыл бұрын
Der Spitfire komme! Hande hoch Englander! The first part is a rough stab at "the Spitfires are coming!" or "the Spitfires have come!" and the second part means "hands up English person!"

Paul Merton really does hate Angus Deayton in this. Apparently it was because Deayton was cheating on his wife, and Merton was particularly outraged about it because his own wife was dying. I guess the reference he makes to asking whether somebody takes this woman to be his lawful wedded wife and responding mocking Deayton's "In what way" would fit with that.
@ladyflimflam2 жыл бұрын
I mean, a quick peek at wikipedia would tell you that’s not accurate. Merton was divorced from Caroline Quentin the year this aired and his second wife didn’t die until after Deayton was fired.
@lizclegg75562 жыл бұрын
@@ladyflimflam Maybe. Maybe Deayton was cheating on his wife and that was enough to annoy him.

Merton never really had any time for him anyway.
@elvisleeboy Жыл бұрын
@@pov_music Deayton had spent the entire decade under the impression that they got on very well. Yes, there was the onscreen sniping, but according to Deayton, they would always be the last two left at the after-show drinks and would always part on friendly terms. If anything, if true, that shows what a phoney Merton is and presents him in a far worse light than it does Deayton.

I've noticed certain people who have something against Paul, you are one of them. Since Paul was in Whose Line Is It his style of humour has always been the sarcastic dig, and Ian is at the end of it also. Quit projecting your own feelings on someone else's situation... its not attractive 🤣🤣🤣
