Kiri is totally right to blame HIGNFY for Boris tbh. It was a long, slow process, but her point is spot on that 20 years ago or so, they made him a palatable public figure who was ultimately harmless. But of course he isn't harmless and all the normal disasters of a conservative government will be multiplied by his stupidity.

I know this isn't exactly new news, but why are people still allowed to buy products from countries that heavily pollute to make them. It would be like how murder isn't legal in your country, so you have your enemies kidnapped and then killed in a country where murder isn't punished. That is exactly what is happening with pollution. This "not in my backyard but I'll happily pay to have someone else release pollution into the atmosphere somewhere else" has to stop. This has been going on for so long, you'd think pollution was completely legal. Pretend it isn't happening, bury your head in the sand, but someday it will be too late. Did you know that "thermal pollution" is causing natural disasters? Welcome to the future, it is getting worse all the time, and anyone that knows is supposed to pretend it isn't happening... If you can't make it clean, then no one can make it. That should be the slogan for the 21st century, and they should just ban everything currently making illegal pollution. Sure we go a few years without some basic things, but the market will quickly bounce back. We are killing the environment. It will probably not happen in your lifetime, but it will eventually happen until someone with actual power stops it, it's just that, right now, no one can enforce it. Like your parents telling you to clean up your room, only there are no global "Parents" that can make us clean up this mess.

The show writers were at least as clueless as that poor 81 years-old unnamed man. How could he see "the black forests of North Rhine-Westphalia" when he went to a place that is described as "in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern" a couple of seconds later? That's about as far apart as Edinburgh is from London...
