Good racing. You still earn IR (irating) in rookies. You just don't see what you have until you get a D licience For overlays, have a look at Kapps or Racelabs. Good luck!
@DDFRacer4 жыл бұрын
Cheers Frosty, I can definitely see my iRating now thanks to this race 😉 and I had a look at Kapps in my first couple of races but didn't particularly like the idea of spending even more money since the iRacing sub is already starting to add up now I need to get more content to race in D series. SimHub should do the trick for now until I can figure out some of the more complex coding issues 👍

BTW you had a little check mark indicating your License Promotion. You are now Class D. 3.5 to instant upgrade. Well done. Hopefully something a bit spicier for the next iRacing vid

I was wondering what that was! The next race I did was as a D license so I figured I got the promotion but was expecting a little more ceremony you know 😅 maybe a little notification or certificate come up on screen perhaps. I can assure you the next race is definitely spicier 😉 taking a little break from the editing as we speak, should be uploaded in the next couple of days.

Hi Dan. Good race! In answer to your name question with the number at the end. When I joined, I was given the number 2 at the end of my name because there was already a Steve Harvey with an account on iRacing. I submitted a request to change it because I didn't like it - you are allowed to change your name once apparently. I chose Stève Harvey - thinking people won't notice the accent on the first E.

Well driven mate. Smooth and consistent. You'll be out of rookies in no time (you probably are already). What's the plan? I remember a ton of people recommending the skip barber series, and vaguely remember it being a fair bit of fun when I got there. I think some very good drivers race there regularly because it's one of the better and more well populated series in the game.
@DDFRacer3 жыл бұрын
Cheers Richard! I didn't realise at the time but I actually gained my promotion on the spot after this race, indicated by the double up arrows next to my name on the results screen. I probably would have pointed it out a little more if I knew 😉 Skippies are definitely next on the list but after speaking to the Zansho guys I've had a lot of other stuff recommended too. Apparently USF2000 is now a thing in D license so you can imagine my thoughts on that 😍 but also Ferrari GT3 fixed setup and Touring Car Challenge come highly suggested too. Might just have to try them all...

Good driving. I've started doing the rookie races in race room. Had a good one in the silhouette class at Laguna Seca but then a feisty one at Stowe in the BMW M235. I think that circuit is based for your safety rating as it's so twisty.

Cheers Kev, just gotta keep that nose clean! Must admit I've never tried the RaceRoom Rookie combos though, but that BMW is great to drive 👌

@@DDFRacer Right now Rookies are full of rammers. It is rare to be abke to take the corner when somebody is behind you. There are even guys turning into you/driving from side to side on straights. But BMWs on Stowe were great fun this week.

@@gameboyterrorysta6307 The side to side people are probably gamepad or keyboard users. Plenty of them on RaceRoom. Makes it tough to pass them without contact. I’ve got a big question for ya. I’ve asked you others before which I’m greatly appreciative of your responses! But..... I just got heavily into raceroom. Bought the big pack. I’m loving it a ton. But. I’m having a big issue with finding people! It’s even worse because I’m in the US so that doesn’t help. I know you enjoy raceroom a lot too, so I was wondering if you think it’s worth it to hop on iracing? Are you thinking of making it your main sim?
@DDFRacer4 жыл бұрын
No I hear ya Geeb, it's a bit of an issue to be honest finding a full server outside of the EU region in RaceRoom. It depends on what you're after though and also what you can afford. It's too early for me to say what the rest of the iRacing content is like since the only car I've driven is the MX-5, but having driven nearly everything in RaceRoom I would say that sheer value for money with RaceRoom is unbeatable. However, you certainly can't fault iRacing for the participation levels if all you're wanting to do is race against other people and don't mind spending a little extra or being quite restricted on the cars/circuits you have available.
@ggNotSuree4 жыл бұрын
@@DDFRacer ahh okay. Good to know. I’ll be curiously following your iracing career then for sure. No matter what game it is, I always have that competitive itch for pvp. So I think that’s where I’ll always gravitate towards. I’ll most likely end up testing out iracing and seeing where it goes. Thanks for the response! I hate how iracing seems to have such a monopoly on that almost, and I don’t get how they can get away with charging such an insane amount compared to every other sim out there.

why without clutch? :]
@DDFRacer4 жыл бұрын
I previously used clutch in my first 4 races, but a someone mentioned in the comments that you don't actually need to in these cars. Even with auto clutch turned off, it does the clutching for you, but you still have to manually blip the throttle on downshifts and make sure the revs match on upshifts 😉 Not using the clutch allows me to keep my left foot on the brakes (which is what I'm used to in GT cars and single seaters) and improves my consistency in my opinion. I'm also really bad at manual shifting and have been known to destroy the odd gearbox or two 😅
@ralfhenning32044 жыл бұрын
@@DDFRacer even with auto clutch off it does the clutching? for sure? i have to check it;] its no problem for me to upshift with clutch, from time to time i miss gear of course. but its fun. main thing is downshift - with clutch and blip assist you can deaccelerate much more efficient than without it.. or i do something wrong :p but it seems to be quite simple thing to do.. my fastest lap was 1:53:499 without assists, in race. thanks for answer dude. wish you fast laps ;-))
