As someone who has just started collecting and flipping I can attest to the power of PSA grading and patience. In my first submission I hit a psa 10 Gyarados holo from Holon Phantoms. An $88 ebay auction buy has turned into a $600 card in my collection. Even if you have ZERO experience all you need is a good set of eyes and patience. Good luck to all! Thanks for another amazing video 👏
@ga1actic_muffin Жыл бұрын
have you sold the card though for $600? the true test is demand. Any card can have a value on paper but it doesnt have that value unless someone is willing to pay it. so i like to factor in potential demand and sellability of product before i choose which cards to get graded or invest in. Infact from my experience 5 years in this hobby, sometimes the highest value cards that everyone would love to have are the hardest to sell. so it may not be worth the investment. PSA9 - PSA10 Charizard first ed shadowless is very hard to sell unless you give a massive deal on it for example.

It was recently sold on Jan 29 for $617. There's only 66 cards in population 10. Card should be easy to move considering the art, artist, and population. Go look up the card if you haven't yet.

Wow you were on the money with this video. Absolutely recommend setting a goal for yourself when getting into the hobby. And the advice you gave on looking for minty cards for a steal and then turning around and having a crack at grading is exactly what I would tell someone as well. Awesome video!

No go fuck yourself, people shouldn't treat this as a crypto currency or a tool for investment, if you wanna earn money from cards just go to a local or regional tournament.

As a retro Tcg player, I bought a bundle lot on Mercari starting 3 years ago with jungle and fossil and the cards were in good condition but not mint. As I collected more, I bought and collected more theme decks in the years between 2003-2007 and a few from 2010. The 3 starter decks in my collection,from Hgss, goes for around $300 and i recently purchased a lot from Leafgreen/Firered in mint condition from another collector that had mostly commons and uncommons and a few rares, but nothing crazy. As a collector it brings me so much nostalgia, creating decks from the eras from 1999-2007 and deck testing from different generations of cards! I just can’t play the TCG today with cards having massive 200 damage attacks, mega evolutions, and all the big hp V/ex cards, bc they’re power creeping way too much!

Thank you for this, another great video with valuable information. What a wonderful idea for a starter collection. The thrill of the hunt, making new friends along the way, and the joy of having your favorites in a binder or slab = priceless! Putting these concepts into practice, I'm a fan of picking a favorite Pokemon or three, that has black star promos in a mix of vintage and modern, and starting with those. Something like: WoTC Eevee, Radiant Eevee, Flareon V (reg and alternate art), Flareon VMAX, Jolteon V (reg and alt art) and VMAX, and the same for the Vaporeon V, alt V, and VMAX. If I had a bit left over, I'd then stick with the family and might add the first edition Jungle Eevee (English and Japanese versions) to have her rookie cards. A similar starter collection could be made with the Mew and MewTwo family. And... now I have to go see what I'm missing. Happy hunting and collecting!

Great video. I only started collecting recently and don’t think of myself as an investor but I was lucky enough to get a couple evolving skies BB below MSRP. I traded the two BB for a full Neo Genesis holo set (inc 1st Ed lugia) and also bought an umbreon alt when it was around £100. Traded that for a shining mewtwo and shining kabutops. So sealed and modern is also a great method to get returns to put into collection items you want.
@patron9094 Жыл бұрын
I would spend $100 on the winner stamped promos. They are the last release of WOTC prior to passing the torch to the Pokemon Company, they are decently low popped. The dark venusaur in particular is needed to complete the Dark Starter trio.

A huge part of the market spiking so hard for a lot of products is market manipulation with fake sales and alt accounts listing the same item on eBay, flooding the market with higher prices in an attempt to lift the price floor. Pair that with the fact that eBay doesn't even show real sales data in sold history (my offer of 325 on a card was accepted, but sold history says 403, the base asking price), entirely removing our depth gauge on those lows
@nickslidel Жыл бұрын
EBay does have a sales research facility that shows actual sale price (including where best offer was accepted) And whilst there are shill bid auctions, alt accounts etc, that may impact the odd rare card value momentarily, there’s no way it’d ever be on a scale big enough to dictate or impact the entire Pokémon market

good video! would love to see a video like this on sealed collectors. im more of a sealed collector and I also use this criteria to decide on good cards to collect in addition to your criteria you described int his video. I like to score them for a general opportunity measurement. this is the breakdown for Japanese Dream League Sealed Product for example: ☐ Volume 8/10 ☐ Reprint Potential. 10/10 ☐ Price of cards in set. 10/10 (just look at Rosa alone my god.. ) ☐ Set history 5/10 (First Trainer Gallery cards included in this set) ☐ set card Aesthetics 9/10 ☐ Sealed box Aesthetics 10/10 ☐ Unique cards/mechanics that have low reprint probability 8/10 (Tag Team Mechanic) ☐ Pull Rates 9/10 (1/14 SR pull rate per box. Very difficult pulls means less supply of the SR cards. high demand for openings) ☐ Undervalued 10/10 (this thing is going for $300 a box. for an older set with he kinds of pulls it has, this is very undervalued)

If I'm paying 5 bucks for a pack then at least make it so after card trick reverse Holo Holo or v card or trainer art then v card ultra rare secret rare I want hits everytime or do what yugioh does and make more special sets like crown zenith shining fates not just three times a year then barely get any and then you should always get a hit first I think pokemon is in on the second market or they wouldn't make it so hard to get certain pulls now I'm not saying make it way to easy to pull what you want but make it easier than what it is
@LOSTmyHOST Жыл бұрын
I believe the same. The holos should be in every pack or better, having some empty packs feels bad and not great for collecting. I just started this hobby a few months ago and I'll stop before Scarlet/Violet cuz I can't with high prices.
