Ste is 100% right about Salah. He's dealing with the reality of the situation. The rest of you have missed the point & are stuck on an idealistic view of what you think should happen & don't want to accept Salah may leave on a free, which is a very real possibility. If you want to go down the "should" route, they should have bought Haaland, Mbappe & Bellingham too etc etc etc. Shoulda, woulda, coulda, It's irrelevant. Salah is in control & this is a problem of Liverpool's own making so what Liverpool should've done is long gone & they can't force him out so risk losing him on a free. Mbappe is Indeed the blueprint. The difference is Mbappe wanted out whereas I don't think Salah does. Yet.

I completely agree with Ste, Salah owes us nothing! Whilst it would be right for the club to look for a fee if he didn't want to stay beyond next season, he's done everything for the club to help us win trophies. He's been out top scorer every season for us, he helped us win the 2 big 1's in the League & CL. He's been an incredible professional & has never been a disruptive influence on the squad! For me when he returns to pre season both Edwards & Hughes will have a conversation with him about extending his contract. For me interms of squad strengthing we need a versatile defender who's comfortable at both LB & CB (Hincapie, Calafiori, Hancko?) a DM who's solid at protecting the defence but also progressive when starting attacks (Wieffer or Varela) allow Bajcetic to gradually come back into the side & be Endo's eventual replacement. A RW also who learn from King Mo, be able to roate with him when needed & eventually in time become his longterm replacement in the side. If Diaz were to leave then I'd be all over Gordon being signed, him or Williams would be spot on! I'd also like to see Beck & Morton given a fair crack of the whip in pre season to impress Slot.

I honestly think that the constant changes in the midfield didn’t help Nunez - Nunez makes them runs all the time, the midfield looked up seen the run passed it sideways and by then he is already on the last defenders shoulder - if we have a constant starting midfield, they will learn his movement, like at when Gerrard played with Torres, I think Nunez has the ability to absolutely fly!!

Absolutely agree with Ste on Mo. Mo will either leave on a free or he will sign a new contract on his terms. Liverpool cannot sell him against his wishes. Should have sold Mo 2-3 years ago.

I agree with Ste on Salah that he holds all the cards but I would not say that him leaving this summer is out of the question. He may be convinced into leaving by a much bigger salary.

Gordon would be great but if it were up to me £60m would be my max. Price tag pressure is a real thing and could affect him if he cost stupid money saw it with Darwin. Also another opportunity might present itself for another player like a dm so don’t want to blow alll the budget on a player we already have in Diaz

I do not understand why we are entertaining an idea of selling Diaz and buying a younger Diaz when we have another 3 left winger options after him going??? Not to mention a mo salah who’s aging and leaving in the next year, with no replacement? This makes no sense to me. Why spend upwards of 80 million on Gordon when there are so many more wingers that would hit the ground running and fill our squad better??

Not sure why we are not looking at Nico Williams sure his wages are high but we can structure his contract to be be more performance based salah get paid over half his basic rate through bonuses alone so it shouldn’t be a problem

Left back is priority for the future so we need to get someone in this year. Even if we sell Diaz I would not look to bring in Gordon. Gakpo needs to be given more of a run in that role. I like Baj and endo as our dm options. Endo compared well with all the other top dm's last season. He was a steal for the price. Baj before the injury was looking like the next big star from the academy. He will be incredible once fully fit imo. Other than that we need to assess the right side of our attack. I think zsobo and elliot can more than hold their own that side. We need more from zsobo, wasn't the same after the injury and lost his confidence. Also looked uninterested in tracking back, noticed it in the Euros. He's got to work harder or else could be gone after next season

I know lots of people wouldn't agree but I genuinely think that the young team had the energy and passion to do it. It all went wrong when people started to come back from injury and weren't fit enough and it ruined the continuity.

Nah Steve's argument is fucking stupid haha. There is no world where Liverpool don't attempt to sell Salah if he says he isn't signing a new deal. This is not to say he will be sold, but Ste is immediately dismissing any world where he will be sold, he's being a child

@gylduran9217 like the others you missed the obvious difference between "should" and "will". Liverpool "should" sell Salah if he won't sign a new contract, but Salah "will" see out his contract and leave on a free if he chooses and there's nothing Liverpool can do to stop him doing that. They can't force him to sign a contract, they can't force him out, they can't afford to bench him for a season. Salah holds all the cards. It's really basic stuff. I'd personally love to sell him, he's significantly declining and there no way he justifies £350k a week, but it's not happening.

He is totally dismissing any world where Salah is sold, when this will be exactly what Liverpool try and do if he isn't going to sign a new deal. The other's weren't saying it was definitely going to happen, they were simply saying Liverpool HAVE to try. It isn't a pointless discussion because it is the right thing for Liverpool to do.

How have yous managed to stretch out 2 hours talking about 1 transfer? Watched the first half hour and there's claims we should break our transfer record for a lad, albeit a Red, who's good but not elite to replace Diaz who is an elite dribbler but lacks end product. I can't see a tangible improvement from Gordon to our squad in a way that takes us from title challenge to title winners, other than allowing us to sign a foreign player in another role.
