Team 17 managed to quickly communicate on THIS but completely ignored our in game feedback. @TEAM 17.... I have 6000+ hours in the game and have a server....talk to people like me and quit going after negative reviews...which you TOTALLY earned by your actions and/or inactions. 'Keep moving...we've taken a German OP!'. Wow. We love the original concept and get early access issues, but this QA failure on all fronts is T17. It's so fixable....but you gotta get a plan and get organized.

Doing silly run speed and dolphin dives to chase a different crowd and Franchise expansion $$$ is the great divide somewhere up at T17. I think the 17 in the name is either the number of minutes spent on QA annually or the average age of the management trying to figure out this WW2 stuff and business management on the whole. So easy to fix....but not with their scattered priorities and game identity crisis.

Having been in QA most of my life, I am almost 100% certain it's not a QA problem - it's a product owner problem pushing something that Dev and QA couldn't handle in the time given. It's often product owners who come up with a release date, with little to no consideration to the time needed by Dev and QA.

I still play it from time to time. And have had fun. But it doesn't feel like the game it used to be and I have little faith in the current devs. On the other hand I picked up post scriptum a few months before the rebrand and the game was all but dead. Been a Damn blast since they rebranded, updated some things, and has a fairly small but consistent and good player base. Does a lot of stuff better than HLL does. Not quite as accessible. But some factions having mortarmen, suppression feels more like you're actually suppressed, firefights are incredible. Nothing quite like seeing a friendly Sherman pull up, running over, climbing on top, and laying down some freedom with the M2 on top as you're advancing. Some maps and factions are better than others but has a lot of promise of a good return and an alternate to hll. Not Nessesarily a replacement.

Clearly T17 bought HLL to take it onto console, and make a cash grab from massively expanding the potential player base in doing so. Have T17 been good for HLL... no... the lack of squad collabroation and communication has never been worse, which I firmly believe is down to the console player base. That really sucks and is my biggest issue with the game at this point. Of course I wish they'd done more of the stuff they promised, and done it better, but I struggle to believe anyone else would have done more. HLL is a 5 year old, mediumly successful game that has in all probability peaked. Expecting any organisation to keep pumping resource into it is a little naive.

Great video Terry. I imagine what has happened is that from the get go Team17 tried to develop this game on the cheap. Outsourcing everything they could, rushing every update/patch, gutting QA department, honestly it is quite sad. I was so hopeful when they took over, I thought that HLL would go from an Indie studio (Black Matter) to a proper "big boy" developer like Team17. When they revealed the 2023 Roadmap with Polish and Finnish forces and bunch of other stuff I was hyped but very soon things went wrong. I thought the pace and quality of development would improve, instead it has got demonstrably worse. You're right that some of this is probably because of the "spaghetti code" and other legacy issues but that doesn't excuse rushed/unfinished or dare I say it again, lazy and untested updates/patches.

My friendship group that I formed and forged over the past 2 years in Hell Let Loose; almost none of them play HLL anymore and that’s purely because the lack of content, you’re my favourite HLL creator and who can blame you for leaving the game behind, it’s a massive shame because it’s the best Second World War shooter on the market currently and has a very dedicated playerbase that it’s currently haemorrhaging that playerbase.

T17 it's killing the HLL for the vets, they add changes that one asked for and they don't communicate that they were going to add those changes, like the UI, i spent an hour and a half making sure that i had the right uniforms, faces, helmets and loadouts just as i had 'em before this unwanted and not announced UI change; they call the foggy maps "new night maps", when all they're are the same old maps with a bit of low light and an extreme fog so one don't notice the LOD and performance issues, those foggy maps are not fun to play, they also call "new map" the same old maps with a lighting change... that's not "a new map" and we all know it. Instead fix and improve the LOD issues, both visual and solid LODs on all maps, remove the foggy maps and add really dark/low light maps, add more maps for the soviets and the british nop.. they come up with more foggy maps, broken patches and things, unwanted and unneeded changes, and base game price increase that game doesn't cost that money, they're killing the game with all this BS, and they don't seem to care, for the game.. or for the vet players, that broght the game to where it is and was, so... F T17.

Did not completely stop playing HLL, still play it sometimes (not neeeaaarly as much as before), as it is just so easy to keep playing the game you already know. I think I will soon jump on Squad 44 instead, as I already own it but just couldn't get around to play it due to work. HLL nowadays is a chore though, so it's just a matter of time until it happens.

One of the ogs of the community. T17 has done nothing but a terrible job since taking over. All the promised road map stuff they never deliver is whatever. The main thing is the stability and performance which is a huge issue. They have a niche on console not so much on pc, but they could have really killed it and they never did. It’s really said as I’ve been playing this game for 3 years now it’s sad the state of it.

Used to love HLL, shame T17 did what they did the way they did it, people seem to "suggest" to switch to Squad 44, i can see why but man, that game is ALOT more mil-sim like and in general doesnt feel great for beginners, especially so for people who dont use mics. Also the graphics arent the best compared to HLL, and dont even get me started on how some weapons handle, i remember a server i joined i picked up the MG-42 and when i tell you that while proned and using a bipod, the recoil was SO BAD that you legit were better off "suppressing fire" with a damn bolt action. So, HLL is run by the awful team17 while Squad 44 just doesnt hit the same yet

That's the point of Squad 44, it is more hardcore, more realistic, more team-based and all in all a much harder game. If you are trying to lone-wolf or just to rack up kills, you are playing it wrong. Squad 44's graphics are inferior in close-quarters; they are still pretty good over long-distance where HLL fails miserably. Furthermore, the recoil of machine guns in Squad 44 is fairly realistic.

The best time I had with HLL was during the original closed pre-alpha testing after the kickstarter. The game was so much better back then. There was a clear goal and vision for the game. It was not the meat grinder it is now. Maps were bigger, and the battles were smaller and more focused (squad vs squad on strongholds) but there was alot more of them across the map rather than the clusterfuck of 50 vs 50 on a single point or two. The game had a slower pace with more team work, every match felt like the battle scene at the radar station on the hill in the movie Saving Private Ryan. I gave up on the game entirely probably a year or two after its public release on steam.

I get it, I get the frustration with "updates" that actually cause more problems than improvements. But frankly, the issue with the game is not the developer, it's the players. Perhaps one in four matches actually function like a team-based strategic FPS. Most are just a chaos of poor communication and a wilful ignorance of unit roles, squad roles, and how to actually play as a team. I play the game a lot, - and 90% of the time my frustration doesn't come from poor historical accuracy, or loadout bugs, or animations. It's from the blueberry hordes who function more like a janky AI than a team of sentient humans. Engineers, who never build nodes. Officers who never build spawn points. Support who never drop crates. And squads who burrow head-long into enemy fire, without ever thinking of repositioning. Commanding a team effectively, is more about looking at a battle map, and predicting where to manually-build spawns to allow the blueberry AI to "flow" over the map like a "water running down a hill" simulator. The game was designed as a passion project for die-hard fans, who wanted to use the functions (I wasn't there and came in around update 9). Years later, the problems with the game are meta. Not performance and aesthetics. Far more effort needs to be spent in moulding a game that drives blueberries to play the way the game was designed to be played. I'll keep playing. See you there.

It really is a shame. I’m a console player that bought the game on sale a few weeks before the Burning Snow update. I take long breaks. Didn’t play for 6months after the first British update with the Runspeed change, until the British weapons were fixed. Each update just makes the game worse. El Alemain was so laggy it was unplayable that first 6months. And the run speed change and subsequent update that re added in Background game analytics made stable maps play like crap. The stutters and rubber-banding on Remagen are ridiculous. Stalingrad still lags and DC’s and is still unplayable on console and should just be removed till they can sort it out. Quality of games has gone to absolute shit as vets leave out of frustration waiting for a Console server browser.

Big LOL at all the chomping on about 'historical accuracy'. The infantry-side of that, kind of highly nuanced (uniforms and correct gun period etc) but the armour?! Arcade AP-pong skill-stealing trash. No nuance in that whatsoever. For console kiddies who know nothing about the reality of WW2 armour, no fks given, but for those who know their apples from their oranges...they left, in disgust. The apparent bemusement over Team 17's behaviour...an even bigger LOL. How could you not realise, pretty damn quickly, that this is a soulless, cynical, profit-whoring gang of corporate hacks? No integrity, no ethics, certainly no passion or care for the subject matter. So yes, they did "destroy the game", but it's not as if Black Matter handed much over to them that wasn't already a promise-failed rip-off of the original Kickstarter betrayal. It's a shabby console-quality arcade abortion of a game but one that now comes with plenty of amusement when your jaw bounces off the floor upon seeing the price. The audacity! :D The final nail in the coffin...the game is over-run and infested with cheats. ESP, aimbotting, map-streaming, the whole enchilada. It is incredibly rare to get into a full-pop server and not immediately experience cheating. And that was the final straw. The anti-cheat software? ROTFFLMFAO!!!

Omg man…I am fucking LIVID! I hadn’t played in a couple weeks for various reasons. And last night I’m like finally let’s get stuck in. Figured I’d have some rust, annnnnd I just started having an amazing round - 4 kill streak, then a 7 kill streak that was clean as hell, so im at 18 kills and like 6 deaths with is rare for me to have a really positive KD ratio. It’s a great round enemy team is pushing we are pushing it’s an evenly matched game, constant action. amazing. ….and then I die…. AND THE FRIGGIN GAME PUTS ME IN SOKE KINDA ADMIN CAM! I can’t do anything can’t respawn, can’t move can’t see anything just literally stuck at a screen I’ve never seen in 700 hours of game play. And I eventually get kicked for idle. And it was literally the first match i had played in weeks. Thanks for coming to my TED talk/Suicide note. jk. but my god that hurt. This fucking gaaaame!!!! 😡 Aw man

I was super hyped about Team17 takeover, simply cause I believed they have the funds to complete one of my favorite games ever. Yup was disappointed like everyone else, but it was not the reason to abandon the game like many. I saw some statistic that from total amount of players average level is 20 !!!! Its shocking, and I blame you and and ALL veterans who quit. Don't get me wrong I'm def not defending team17, F...k them but like in modern world people want it all and want it now. And all these new players do not have learning curve , and with many veteran players out to teach them and show them the way, they are just ruining experience for everyone. Some of the points hit home and as much as we don't like to have our laundry aired out, we fully understand and tend to agree on most of your points. Please please please don't give up on HLL! Yes, problems are there. The new dev team is not garnering our trust, especially with the old guard. But it still is a good game. The foundations are still present. There is hope that the dev team will listen to dedicated players such as yourself. A tutorial mode would help from the devs that highlights the necessity of teamwork and communication. But the players need to put in work also. Old players NEED to communicate with new players. New players NEED to heed the advice of old players. To the dev team, get rid of the crazy filters, try and get rid of the cheaters, and listen to the dedicated players. Basically we should slow down a bit and take our time, both players and the dev team. See you on the battlefield!

Its a bit unfair that we buy the game one time and keep expecting new content. The game's player base is already small (vs other big games) which means not lots of copies sold. On top of this, not a lot of people buy cosmetics. The game should have a small yearly subscription maybe of $7/8 to access all class otherwise just stick with rifleman/officer with base game only. This way the devs continue to make profits and are motivated to create quality content.

Truly it is amazing how the community always tries to point out flaws of the game or give suggestions which are needed for the game. The sheer volume of suggestions is enormous, none of this see answered yet keep posting because discord has a suggestion folder. We at team 17 pretend to listen, night maps skrimish, historically accurate content.... Current situation is so sad see many players go to squad 44 which does deliver content what is requested (or even delivers more than requested) Team 17 doesn't care all last money out of the cash cow with the ridiculous roadmap, ridiculous update (not worth waiting). Community was most important at kickstarter to get bigger, since team 17 is at the wheel it's hell let loose in all facets. There is not enough earning, when shit hits the fan it is sorry sorry sorry. Good suggestion in this is to pull the plug anyway is to temporarily play squad 44.

Yes they have. The last update and the UI changes are shite. Never had so many problems with stutter and frame rate drop on this game on PlayStation and Xbox.

I love Remagen. I like it because I can build an AT gun. The Germans have that cliff that overlooks the bridge. You can see so much of the Allied assault. The allies don't have that view but because the German AT guns can see that much map, the allied AT guns can essentially be built unnoticed on the riverbanks or further back and counter snipe them. I really enjoy Remagen, it is one of my favorite maps because I am not the guy assaulting the bridge. I let the team do it and assist from the back lines. That map stalemates until one side gets an effective enough airhead, thats the only down side honestly.

Idc care about content It’s the fact I can’t ever get below 100 ping I can’t play a game where I’m lagging around half the time my internet isn’t good but I can run other games that require internet connection and there perfectly fine but for hell let loose 140 ping is the norm for me and i live in us central and have it only set on us central and it’ll still put me in a lobby with a connection far away it’s a shame too I seen people play on 50 ping and it amazes me I wonder what that’s even like lmao

the HLL showed the greatest potential to achieve a proper ww2 game one day, this would mean to deliver good maps and on top of that to give us a campaign system with Europe Campaign map, divided by regions and populated with cities , resources, where players could engage on epic strategic battles not just tactical battles. This would have been nice. Now it's a lost opportunity. We, players, will have to do our own game like this.

As a newer console casual who picked the game up earlier this year, I think the most egregious thing I’ve dealt with is the Barracks UI. Attempting to equip cosmetics is a nightmare and not knowing if they’ll even stay equipped is demoralizing. What’s the point of having a cosmetics system if the UI feels like it’s held together with duct tape and spit? The input lag and lack of navigation control is absolutely horrendous. There are plenty of bundles I’d be willing to purchase because I enjoy the game overall, however I don’t see a point in doing so if they aren’t going to prioritize easy problems like a basic menu UI/cosmetic system. It’s not some niche area on some map causing player issues or a core mechanic glitching out for some unknown reason. It’s the IN-GAME MENU. Team 17…buddy…get it together.

There are dogshit indie games with better and more functional menu systems than HLL has. It should be T17’s main priority honestly.

I've got 3000+ hours in HLL, I really wish TEAM 17 didn't fumble the ball here. The game is stagnant and a lot of players have left, and there is a cycle of less experienced players that come in, stay a while and then leave, so it creates this revolving door or "game aware" players. I still go back to it, usually about a month and a bit after free weekends/updates is a nice sweet spot.
