ShartimusPrime Biography:
Inspired by watching boring Transformers action figure reviews, the ShartimusPrime youtube channel was launched in 2008. Engaging the audience with an edgy sense of humor for adult collectors, action figure collecting has never been this fun, and videos are posted daily! Unexpectedly, the channel became more popular for Marvel Legends reviews and Spider-Man, Avengers, and X-Men collection display videos. After a few years, the channel has branched out to review other figure properties aside from Marvel Legends and G1 Transformers Masterpiece. Hot Toys, Star Wars, Diamond Select Toys, DC Collectibles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dragon Ball Z, Attack on Titan, Godzilla, Evil Dead, and The Walking Dead toy lines have all been added to the roster of nearly 2,000 video reviews. Japanese import figures from SH Figuarts, Bandai, Figma, Square Enix, and Medicom MAFEX have been favorites as well. More recently, Kotobukiya Statues (including the very sexy Bishoujo line) and NECA Toys have become more prevalent on the channel. Being a big fan of movies such as Spider-Man, Batman, X-Men, Iron Man, Captain America, The Avengers, Evil Dead, Pacific Rim, Aliens, and other films has lead the channel in the direction of also reviewing movies, movie trailers, blu ray releases, and tv shows. News updates for 2016 releases and beyond are also posted. Audience engagement is a big part of this channel, with giveaways and fan mail being read publicly once a week in the PO Box Pick-Up videos. Impressive “Shart-Art” is shared via social media and included in the opening theme song. The audience is also kept up to date with any changes to the channel, along with recent comic book pick-ups, unboxings, and action figure hauls. Stop-motion segments punishing the popular meme of the Big Time Let Down Spider-Man close most of the comparison segments, and are compiled together for guaranteed access to patrons. Lastly, all figure reviews close with a slideshow featuring dynamic poses of the figure inspired by ACBA, with the added bonus of music performed and recorded by ShartimusPrime himself.

If the Haslab had been Carter Slade on horse, Johnny Blaze on Bike and Robbie in the Hellcharger, for $350, I would have got that. McFarlane has a Gunslinger Spawn with horse for $50, so don’t tell me it couldn’t be done. Tiers after the base offering could have been Blackheart, Mephisto and Damien Helstrom. As someone that started collecting at the tail end of what you describe as the dark ages the notion that THIS Is the new dark age of Legends is absurd! I had some Toybiz ML figures when I was a kid, but when I first started properly collecting the line it was in 2017, so the first ones I got was the Sam Alexander Nova and the Juggernaut BAF wave Deadpool which I'd been trying to find since the prior summer. For me I really feel like I started collecting at an ideal time, as there's been a pretty steady flow ever since of staple characters in the line, I've never had to get any pre-2017 figures for my collection. That said, I've always kept a pretty tight focus when collecting this line, I've never tried to get everything, just the characters I consider the most iconic or the ones I have the most attachment to, and even then trying to be one and done with most of them. With that I've really enjoyed the line this year, and I'll fully admit to really liking the colors and especially the head sculpts on that retro Loki

Those are such good figures. I wish that Colossus had double jointed elbows, but that's about it.

I started off getting the Spider-Man Classics and being in love with them and then blown away when Marvel Legends arrived way back in 2001-2 was a completist for so many years and the same as you ive started in the last couple of years to pass on many figures to the point where ive sold off the entire MCU legends and the vast majority of the none spiderman and x men ones too so i can focus in the collection. Very excited to see the X-Men heavy range for next year but definitely picking and choosing now, i have branched out to mafex and sentinel too (the mafex gambit and jean grey figures blow away the legends ones) cant say its dark days the price increases are annoying but have made it easier to focus the collecting.

60 dollars for the blob, 60 dollars for the doomsday and superman 2 pack... pricing matters for me, im a newer collector and I just can't justify the price of entry for these new marvel legends.

I've never quite understood the love for the toybiz era. I had the original Sentinel baf and it is literally the only toybiz era figure I'd add to my collection again. I get the added sculpting and articulation is a draw but most of just look terrible. I refused to buy X-23 even when I didn't know it could be better. Bishop was nightmarish. And the wolverine offerings? Ugh. I'll give points for paint, sculpt, and articulation but the end result was usually pretty terrible looking. So A for effort but an F in every other category. As for the current state... Pinless joints. New bucks both male and female. More character selection. I'd say the greatest weakness is the lack of accessories or at least new accessories. Havok gives me hope though.

Every single year Hasbro have gradually remade and perfected almost every Toybiz figure to the point where it's not worth picking up any of them anymore, besides maybe the Monsters pack since they've never been remade yet.

My first Legends figures were the Amazing Spider-Man 2 Spidey and Electro from 2014, and I really enjoyed collecting my favourite characters since. I didn't really start collecting until a year or so ago due to not having the money or space, but almost every figure I bought or considered buying was partially influenced by these reviews. I also used to watch Glenn Webb back in the day, rest in peace.

My very first Marvel Legend was 2017 Okoye BAF wave Invincible Iron Man. Loved the figure and still do today, and all we can do is hope for the best while speaking with our money and buying the good figures and leaving the crappy repaints to rot on shelves.

I've collected Toy Biz since the early 90's, so I've been a day 1 Marvel Legends guy. I don't have everything because I was a broke student for most of the ToyBiz days. I worked at Midtown Comic for Marvel Universe and the Marvel Legends Relaunch. I missed a bunch of figures the last four years because I got sick, but the golden age for me is 2014 - 2019, we got a lot of great figures in those five years.

I started with the Brood wave and only got Bucky, and then even further down the line I got Scarlet Spiderman from the Ares BAF, I eventually got Punisher and Daredevil from the Nemesis wave. I also remember getting a Nick Fury and Captain America two pack which I still own. I was a kid back then and didn't know much of the figures, i thought the packaging was cool and the figures look great, i still own all my first figures and well now i have progressed into a much better collection. I'll keep buying figures as long as there are characters i still need.
