Ohhhh be still my beating OCD, that air freshener is meant to be opened into a 3D heart 😂 .....try living in Wales now 20MPH is our life. We're all motorbike riders crying as our favourite roads are all speed camera nightmares. Bring back the good old days of Sunday morning blasts from Wrexham to Barmouth, the wind in our helmets, bugs splattering our screens, not a tyre tread left as we arrived home after fish and chips to be asked 'how the hell did you survive that you nutter!?', lol MAGIC! 😂😂 Very very much enjoying all your content. Thank you!
@Pierre-de-Standing Жыл бұрын
I was in Wales this last weekend and my impression was that the 20MPH limits were only really applied to areas where there is housing (so towns and villages mostly) and plenty of country roads where the national speed limits still apply. I think more is being made out of this than necessary. In Oxford, all residential areas have been 20MPH for about a decade. Accidents are down and there are far fewer injuries and fatalities, which has to be a good thing. In truth, Oxfords roads are so congested, doing more than 20 is hard except when the roads are quiet.
@sarahkempster8098 Жыл бұрын
@@Pierre-de-Standing I was born in Aylesbury lol yes I totally agree with you, 20 mph around residential areas and schools is a good thing, true also congestion. But our old favourite road from here was the A525 all average speed cameras now, nationals are few and far between. More time to look at the scenery I guess 😎

Absolutely “ Top Draw “ my friend , I have just come across this channel and it’s awesome. When I was an 18 yr old lad , with a ( full head of Ginger hair like yourself ) the gent who I worked under as an apprentice Motor Mechanic in a wee village garage in Harefield Middlesex. Used to work at WP when they were based on Victoria Road in Ruislip and they would bring there Cars to him for MOT , he carried out a lot of mini conversations in his time there , Mercedes fronted ones , de seaming , he converted Peter Sellers and John Lennons Minis too. He was also involved in the 6 x Wheel Range River Conversations that W/P did. His tales were legendary , You are a “ Top Fella “ 👍👍

This is one of the best sounding Minis I've ever heard. Yes, I've got the nostalgia of the grumble you get from riding in a Mini along with the usual drivetrain whine. But this is soemthing else - it's got a real consistent, clean purr to it. I love it.

This is what I wanted my old mini to be back in the day when I was a spotty teen flipping through the pages of Mini World. I had a black 1275 mini clubman back in late eighties when no one wanted them. It had twin SU,s and pancake air filters but anything over 70mph you couldn't hear anything, The quickest i ever got was on the acle straight 112mph All you could hear was the Carburetors and noise of vehicle, I am 80% deaf from birth but it was stupidly noisy for me so my friends inside the mini 1275 clubman it must have been terrible, My lotus MK2 cortina wasn't that much better either, Mk3 2.0l gtxl cortina daytona yellow was quiet and quick , until I wrapped it around a storm stench pipe (bigger version of a street light) lol Pushed the driver's front wheel and tyre through the floor through the pedals and into the middle of driver's seat between my legs and pushed seat into rear seat, No one was involved or injured apart from me and it was in middle of the night, How stupid we are as teenagers, its actually frightening But the jump.in vehicle manufacture was a huge leap , Rs capri,s and my favorite capri 30l ghia auto I converted to manual, with the reg FTW7T car got stolen but I still own the reg and kept reg from 30 years ago, Frank Williams office tried serval times to buy registration and I raced Damon Hill back in nineties on a Sunday public road. Of course he denied it lol Granda,s 30l ghias My mk1 escort 1300gt which I did roof chop and put a Ford 30l capri engine in. Man those engines were heavy compared to the Rover V8 3.5l engines at time, My xr2, xr3 Worse car were dolomite sprints , .my preference is Ford but I have owned my Honda integra dc2 type R full turbo race engine almost 20 years Just sold my Nissan cabstar 2.5 diesel 97, my dad then me owned it for almost 20 years and I was very reluctant to sell it but being a retired roofing contractor i mot it every year but just sat there until someone wanted to.buy it and I said NO unless you make me an offer I can't refuse, Just say it was serval thousands, and vehicles are only worth what you are prepared to.pay for it I have regretted selling truck but heyhoe, My other love is 2 stroke mopeds and motorbikes but vintage ones are fetching silly money, Currently rebuilding a yamaha rd125 dx 1977 , that was taken to bits over 35 years ago by its previous owner then left lol We've all been there. Love watching your videos and I only wish I could take plunge and rent a small workshop near me as council garages just don't cut it lol,

There must be a mathematical way of recording a lap time verses the average speed cameras. As for Minis Ive had my share, my last one was on a frame in my garage being converted to a soft top and due to a marriage break up I was not in the mood for that bonnet "safety" catch going through the top of my head for the third time that day so with blood dripping down my back I dropped the shell off the frame loaded all of the rest of my mini spares into the car and towed it out of the garage with my Suzuki sj413 and phoned a scrap man! Mind you I have always been the go to guy in the workshop for SU tune ups ! Great Video Thanks TC

Awesome looking and sounds fabulous, cheers for the trip, looks like you had a blast. Just one thought…., that engine is working pretty hard to stay at 70, I’m pretty sure my brother had an MG metro back in the day and I seem to recall it having a 5 speed box ?. Is there a 5 speed box that you could mate with this feisty engine to give it more legs at higher speeds ??, if there was, the ratios would be closer all the way through the box and you would also benefit low down too.

Great video... But.. You missed 2 fantastic roads, instead of turning right off the A5 onto the Denbigh Moor road, stay on the A5 and take the left onto the B4405 signed 'Isbty Ifan' brilliant road, head for Blaenau Ffestiniog and then Betswy Coed. Evo usually took photos at the lake near the end of the 4407. The 2nd road was at the end of your triangle, go left onto the 5104, absolutely brilliant road that is similar to the 5105. Bet the Mini was great, being so small would give you lots of lane to play in, I spent so many weekends on my Zx10r over there on those roads, my self imagined riding god status usually punctured by some spotty youth in an Astra van overtaking uphill on a blind bend.... 😂

90mph redline sounds like standard gear ratios for a mini of that era. My 1982 mini 1000HL used to hit valve bounce at 78mph in 4th, they were never set up for motorway speeds. it was only in the 90s when they started having trouble with emissions regulations that they started to put longer gearing in.

Cracking little Mini, so angry sounding! I've never owned one of these (i can't fit in them being a lanky 6 foot 6 incher!), but a mate had one, and he let me have a go in it, but from the back seat! I kid you not! Took the front seat out, put a couple of cushions on the back seat, and my long legs and arms did reach the pedals and wheel. And yes, it did feel weird driving it like that!! I know that part of Wales pretty well (i've lived in various parts of the wee country over the years)......very pretty and open. Was wondering if you've done the horse shoe pass route near Llangollen? That's a good one to drive. Back to the Mini, i'm curious about the front grill....what's that from? It looks a perfect fit, sets the car off nicely. Looking forward to the next segment on the MR2...and that little Spitty too....keep up the good work.😇👍
