I was bought up with minis and Morris 1000s helped my dad with welding up everything fron the floors up ! Eg iner and outer sills boot floor battery box front floors A panels subframe mounts etc.... but also I've owned 4 minis of my own and they are the most fun to drive and they have so much soul So it's really good to see this very special 1275 GT being loved so nice job mate 👍

Metal shiny bits on the sump plug of a classic mini is normal. It's down to the gearbox being in the sump and is why the sump plug is magnetic.

It’s funny how the style of plates in vogue when you first got wheels remain special in the future. In my case, it was 1977 and plates were pressed aluminium, yellow background in that reflective finish and with raised, black painted letters. I had some new ones made for my first restoration, by a British company who will make you anything. The original plate is on m workshop wall :)

Is that a standard clubman with different lights, or a special edition? When I passed my test way back in 1993 I wanted a mini for my first car, but my brother had alright had one and my dad was said no chance am I spending my weekends fixing another one, you’re buying a metro. 😂👍

Fantastic update and fantastic progress, Ben - for the number plates, I would tend to stick with “Original” (being on a ‘V” she’s a ‘79. Yes?) Would be interested to see if all that old bodge silicone holds out, especially seeing as you’ve now revealed she’s at Stage 3 ! Really enjoyed that, keep ‘em comin’! JCHK

metro a series never had a 5 speed, unfortunately lol (i have one), Jack Knight engineering made 5 speeds but they're rare and expensive
