Bouea macrophylla, commonly known as gandaria or plum mango or mango plum in English, is a species of flowering plant native to Southeast Asia. The tree belongs to the Anacardiaceae family The evergreen tree grows to heights of 25 meters. Its leaves are lanceolate to elliptic in shape (see: Leaf shape), and range from 13 to 45 cm (5 to 17 inches) long and from 5 to 7 cm (2 to 3 inches) wide. The fruit (resembling a mango) are green in colour and mature to an orange/yellow, with the seed being pink. They grow to roughly 2 to 5 cm (0.7 to 1.9 inches) in diameter. The entire fruit, including its skin is edible. The fruit range from sweet to sour in flavor similar to the Alphonso mango[1], and have a light smell of turpentine. When ripe, the fruit is soft and has fibrous mango-like seeds. Flowering and fruiting times differ for Thailand and Indonesia. Thailand : flowers in November to December, and fruit appears from April to May. Indonesia : flowers in June to November, and fruit appears from March

A fruit grows on a tree in my backyard that looks just like her fruit same shape same color over here in San Antonio Texas USA and someone said that they are called LOQUATS. They are sweet and good to eat once they're full grown. I've always been curious on ways to cook them, but i just wash and eat right off the tree.

I have a Loquat tree back when I was in my home land. The fruit look similar but I don't think that's it. Loquats have a big seed in the middle, but she is eating the whole thing and I don't see a seed in there. Loquats are not that sweet, even the most ripe ones. They are a bit sour and sweet. Plus Loquats are tropical plants, I am surprised it can be grown in Texas when it gets too hot in summer and too cold in the winter for that kinda tree to grow.
@bubux4851
@bubux4851 4 жыл бұрын
@@JohnSmith-nj4zq I'm guessing you've not been to Texas or San Antonio.?. We are 3 hours from the coast so we're pretty much "tropical" 'round here and our winters don't come around until February and summer . . . well it's not hot enough to kill our stubborn plants and vegetation. But these Loquat trees grow plenty around this city . . . it's not 3 or 4 trees.

@@bubux4851 I did a cross country trip from Cali to NY. Stopped by Texas and it was cold as hell. Had to spent the night sleeping in my car and I could tell you that it was bitter cold. No tropical plant can survive a winter with that weather. But I think I drove on I-20, so it was north of TX. All I saw was desert plants. So, where you are might be warmer.

It is because of our climate. I been looking for some seeds of this tree but to no avail. Will try to grow one on our farm which resides on a mountain with temperate climate and cold at night. We have a lots of Passion fruit before that we take as juice, but when they fortunately cut them all, all fruits which are tropics are gone. Damn . I tried the LYCHEE tree but up to now it Grew very slow. been sitting there for almost 5 years now,
