Amazingly, in Afghanistan, where for ten years a war has been fought with 9/11 as its root cause and justification, not only do many locals claim to be oblivious to 9/11 but it appears that so are the police and even some of the translators working with the US military. "We're farmers, we're just working in our fields. We don't know anything else about the world," they shrug. With high rates of illiteracy, poverty and lack of infrastructure, many Afghans live in what is close to a media vacuum. With American troops set to start withdrawing this year, it appears that they will leave with a huge number of Afghans never having really understood why they came in the first place. For the majority of US soldiers however, it's a different story. "Some of us still have a personal vendetta with the beings that roam here. I still find it very personal."

Imagine having no idea what triggered the UN approving the invasion of your country; not being aware of either the internet or modern technology in general; and having explosions going off everywhere just like when the Russian's invaded. Can you really blame these people for being oblivious to the 'true cause' behind their country getting sent back to the Paleolithic era? 9/11 was an astronomically terrible event that took the lives of over 3000 people, but the war in the Middle-east has claimed over 200 000 civilian lives since 2002. Did we really need to send the Middle-east into more than a decade of chaos? No. Did it get us anywhere? No. Are we any more safe? No. End of rant (my apologies if I offended anyone).

8:32 Marine commander confidently and incorrectly states that the Taliban highjacked the planes (no hijackers were members of the Taliban), some of the hijackers were from Afghanistan and Yemen (a grand total of ZERO were from Afghanistan and Yemen), and that the hijackers trained in Afghanistan (actually, they trained in Sarasota, Florida). I'd like to add to the narrator's remarks at the end of this video: it seems EVEN THE AMERICAN TROOPS will leave Afghanistan without ever having really understood why they came in the first place.

When a new video reaches 300 videos, it will not count further views until the video has been verified by their system. It's basically an anti-fraud mechanism. At 300 views, the system is triggered. You can google it. There are even youtube videos about it.

The terrorist group Al Qaeda that perpetrated 9/11 were based and sheltered in Afghanistan by the Taliban, who refused to extradite their leader Bin Laden to the US. So we had to invade Afghanistan to oust the Taliban and pressure Al Qaeda.
