The Rotary Valve Trumpet is common in Germany, and lots of companies make these instruments. The advantage of a Rotary Trumpet for beginners is that you don't need quite as much air to make a good sound on it, plus the Rotary Valves allow you to play with precision. The neat thing about a Rotary Valve Trumpet is that it takes a Standard Trumpet mouthpiece, but it has a Slightly mellower sound than a Standard Piston Valve Trumpet so it won't overpower other instruments.
