Phyliss Wheatly, is the very first Black poet who rose up from being enslaved to prominence in America. At a time when this county was being established this brilliant young women. Learned how to speak several languages and she traveled to Europe. Her intelligence was on display as she had several poems and books published. She is the forerunner to great poets like Maya Angelo, Nikki Giovanni and Amanda Gorman. She accomplished this in the 1700's folk, yes the 1700's.

That was a wonderful history lesson about Mrs Wheatley, the only part about the video I didn't like or care for was when maya angelou's name was mentioned...because she personally disrespected me and she was an asshole to many black people for absolutely no reason. That was the REAL maya angelou 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾.

You lie. She was bought by John Wheatley in Africa and brought to Boston to be a Compainion for his wife who had lost a child. John Wheatley was not a slave trader, he was a writer. He taught Phyllis Wheatley to read and write.
