They're not rings, they are a spiral. They do not elongate the neck; rather, they compress and deform the shoulders and collarbones

There is an African tribe that does this as well for the same reasons, and I find that very interesting. They are called Ndebele.

How terrible for the kids even if its the culture poor women can not be comfortable. Imagine if we did that to an animal the world would lose it

Culture is mostly our enemy. There was an American woman who did this. Her neck suffered. I think it’s strange

It is not beautiful. It is extremely painful and can break their colarbones. As a doctor, friend or relative I would never advise anyone to hirt themselves like that. 😢

They may deserve a medal for upholding their beauty ideals, cultural heritage, and solidifying their status as an exceptionally unique tribe. But how awful it must be for them to keep their necks upright with those rings for extended periods!😑 Both the giraffe women and giraffes themselves are so distinct that they require special attention and protection. One intriguing aspect about these women is that they might never need a neck lift.😉 But I'd not like to travel like a local. I don't think I could pull it off there. hehe😏 And we all know that giraffes are considered a land species at risk of extinction, and we should cherish these beautiful animals.

@@arravolleyball Absolutely, I see where you're coming from. This practice could indeed prompt a heated debate involving cultural relativism and child welfare. The complexity lies in the differing perceptions.. For the locals, it might not register as disruptive, while foreigners might understandably view it through the lens of child abuse, as you mentioned. It's a nuanced issue influenced by cultural perspectives, and understanding these varying viewpoints is crucial in discussions like this..😊
